Shore excursion reviews?

Hi, all! This is a GREAT forum and everybody seems so friendly and very much into Disney!

Since this is my first post here, a little background. I'm a former WDW Cast Member. I did go on the Magic when it first started in 1998. I was working on the cruise doing guest surveys. We weren't allowed (by our boss) to take part in any on-board activities and had two hours at Nassau (which I didn't much care for). Hurricane Mitch blew through, so I got major sea-sickness the last two days. We didn't go to Castaway Cay due to the storm.

So, I'm looking at my upcoming 4-Night Wonder cruise as a first-time DCL cruise. :earsboy:

But I do have some questions.

I'm wondering where I can find reviews of the different shore excursions for both Nassau and Castaway Cay. I have found plenty of *descriptions* but very few reviews from people who have actually done the excursions.

Just for reference, it will be two adults who are Disney fanatics and who are certified SCUBA divers but don't really want to do SCUBA on the trip, but would like to snorkel.

Any reviews (or links to reviews) for the following activities would be greatly appreciated:

1. Nassau's Catamaran Sail & Reef Snorkeling
2. Nassau's Caribbean Queen Snorkel Tour
3. Nassau's Ardastra Gardens & City Tour
4. Castaway Cay's Walking & Kayak Nature Adventure
5. Castaway Cay's Banana Boat ride
6. Castaway Cay's bike rental
7. Castaway Cay's parasailing

Are any of these worth the time/money? Should I do something totally different? Go on my own? Stay on the ship?

Additionally, I'm wondering if anybody has done the "Romance at Sea" package. I have the following questions about it:

1. What comes in the gift basket
2. Is it the full massage for two or just the back/neck massage
3. Will I know when I get my docs what my dining rotation is in order to make my Palo reservation in advance (a perk of the Romance at Sea package). I don't want to miss AP or Triton's.

Any additional details about the Romance at Sea package will be most appreciated, too.

Thanks in advance!

I know there is a place on these boards with reviews-someone help!

If you want to search any of the excursions, try the search box at the bottom. Sometimes it is not up and running, be patient.

We did the catamaran sail and snorkel and we had a great time. I would imagine if you like to see fish scuba diving, you probably would like this. I know my dad did a lot of scuba diving and always enjoyed snorkeling. The nice thing about this particular excursion is the timing. We were back for lunch and had plenty of time for other things...getting cleaned up, spa appointments, 2 trips into Nassau, a nice drink at the bar, etc....all before 6:00.

We have also done the Blue lagoon. This was a very calm excursion but long. Nice shallow waters, they have equipment to rent (small boats). For someone who has done scuba, the snorkeling here might not thrill you. It did for us, but it was our first time so it didn't take much!

I've heard that there is a stringray place at the Blue lagoon (separate excursion/or an add on).

Atlantis is suppose to be very nice for gambling and a pretty cool place to sight see. But many things here are extra.

One thing that you'll find is that someone will always try to answer any question that you may have.

have fun!
