I remember hearing about this years ago and wondered if anyone had any recent info.

Suposedly, you could enter a park for two hours MAX to do shopping. If you were not back by the end of two hours you were charged the price of a one day admission ticket.

This January we'll be staying at the BWV for the marathon but are doing the US/IOA parks instead. However, we'd love to get into Epcot to pick up a few things.
So, has anyone done this? TIA!

MODS -- I posted this here knowing that if anyone had the answer to this it would be a fellow DVC'er. However, feel free to move it to the appropriate forum if necessary. Thanks!

My MIL had to go into Epcot to return something in Mexico that was delivered to SSR broken. She went to the CM at Guest Services, the woman was a total jerk. And I mean it. She was very, very nasty to my MIL and said she had 15 minutes to get back to the window or she would be charged the (forgive me I don't remember the exact dollar amount) approximately $56.00. My MIL ran like crazy to get from the Boardwalk entrance to Epcot to Mexico picked up a new item and made the exchange and booked it back to GS so afraid she would have to pay the money. The CM had a terrible attitude as if she was asking to get in for free, she could have simply stated their policy was you have to purchase a ticket, go take care of your business in a timely manner and then come back and get the refund, but she said "that's $56 and you have 15 mintues to get back here!" while holding her hand out for the credit card. So I'm pretty sure they don't give you two hours anymore. As a side note to this CM's attiutude, we got a lot of what I would call "disgruntled" CM's, we always strike up a chat with CM's, etc. and so many were saying, we're just interns, get paid dirt, and a monorail worker stated he only got a $.10 raise and they were very upset about it. Unfortunately those comments, and there were many, kind of took a bit of the "magic" away. Anyway it doesn't hurt to ask about a shopping pass, maybe you'll have a better experience!

They used to have shopping passes, but they've become darn near impossible to get. It sort of blow to the winds with the homogenization of Disney merchandising.

You used to be able to request one of these "shopping passes". You could go to Guest Relations at any of the major theme parks, and an imprint would be taken of your credit card for the amount of a one day pass. You (and ONLY you!!) then had one hour to get your item, and get back to Guest Relations. If you didn't make it back within the hour, (or just forgot to stop by! :) ), your shopping pass "magically" converted to a 1 day ticket, and your card was charged. If you made it back in time, your imprint was voided, and you owed nothing.

You may be able to find one or two Guest Relations CMs who know about these and can do them, but they're really kind of gone....

This rule applies in my family - if you see an item that you HAVE to have, don't wait!!! Whether you're on vacation or not!!! By the time you remember to get the item, or have a chance to get it all - it won't be there! :) (Or in the case of Disney World - all your admission will have expired)

Thank you both for your reponses! I had figured this was something that had been done away with anyway. Oh well! I guess this means I have more money to spend at their competition! ;)

The shopping pass still exists. As far as I know, the time limit is 1 hour. If you find a Guest Relations CM that doesn't know about the pass, ask for a manager, they'll be able to help you out.
