Shopaholic Goes Disney.... A Pre-Trip Report (Updated 12/26)

A blonde moment to rival all others.....

Yesterday I decided I had been cooped up in the house with my poor, sickly DH long enough. I packed Belle up in the car and we headed to our local watering hole (AKA.... Target).

Let me preface this by saying that I've been driving DH's SUV all week. Being the thrifty man he is, he bought a standard vehicle instead of spending the extra money on an automatic. I am used to my automatic.

I pull into the parking lot and notice an old caddy, which has been spray painted to look like a Nerds candy box. Imagine this.....

Who knows? It could have been Snoop Dog himself, right in my very own target.

I pull in to the spot next to this "eye candy" of a car (pun intended), turn the car off and hop right out, cell phone in hand. I just knew that DH would get a huge laugh out of it all and he needs cheering up these days.

As I begin to take the picture, I notice that DH's car is moving behind me and it's heading right for the car in front of it.

I forgot about a little thing called the emergancy brake!!!!

I jump in front of this car like I'm Supergirl and use all my strength to prevent it from bumping into the truck in front of it. (DH would kill me if I wrecked his vehicle under such silly circumstances.)

Then I realize that I'm stuck. There's no way I can move to get into his car and pull the emergancy break without it smashing into the other car.

So there I am (all 100 pounds of me) holding back an SUV with all of my might!!!! (Praying that God will send along a good samaritan to pull the E-brake for me.:scared1: )

(Please take a moment to imagine this senario..... )

Eventually a little old lady came out of Bed, Bath and Beyond and came to my rescue.

All along, Belle is sitting inside the car laughing at me. She enjoyed the show!

Girl!!! How funny!! Thank God He helped you out!!! Geez!! What did G say? Or...did you tell him!!!???

Oh --We went to our Target yesterday too!!! I guess that's the escape place right?!!! In Shreveport, is there a big mall? I can't remember. I know we went to a place that was like a shopping strip-not all in a mall. It had a huge Bass Pro shop,a bookstore, an Ice Cream place...maybe some elevators--I don't know where they went except to a public bathroom. What was that---I can't remember. This was over a year ago we went. I know they had other stores, just can't remember what!!!

Oh my goodness! You could have been smushed!! I'm so glad everything turned out ok.

Oh my Soleil, I'm so glad that you weren't hurt!! And that the car is still in one piece and no dents, but still....more happy you and Belle are okay!!

WOW...Soleil!! my hero!!! I'm impressed....did you tell G? And did you end up with the picture? LOL!! :rotfl: Holy cow!!! Glad you're okay and that Bella got a chuckle out of her Super Mom!!!

No, I was fine. It shook me up a bit, but no dents, cuts, scratches or bruises. G even got a good laugh out of it. :lmao:

No, I didn't get the picture. After that fiasco I didn't really want it. People should not be allowed to paint funny things on cars. It is too distracting!

This maybe a stupid question...not sure if it's because I live in Michigan and they are not available...but who or what is a Vera Bradley. Never heard of them or it before.

Soleil... Glad you were not hurt and that the car was okay. :)

We love Target here...we go at least once a week...just openned 2 new ones in the area. Since I'm still in the market for part-time job to pay for my Disney trip, I also applied to work there as well. The discount will help out greatly, along with the pay check

Mana Liz~ Vera Bradlye has a line of purses, handbags, luggage, wallets,etc.--They are made from a fabric---not like a leather purse. The company brings out new patterns every so often, and retires old ones. The fabric makes them sooooo much more lightweight than a traditional purse--that's one reason I like them so much. They are great for organizing too-little pockets inside so all you stuff doesn't just drop to the bottom. Also, they usually have a pocket or 2 on the outside for keys, cell phone, whatever. She has a website--Vera Bradley, but that doesn't do it justice because they don't show the room inside--it's just a description.

I thought it would be fun to play a little guessing game....

Yesterday I found out that one of my very best friends will be joining G and I at Disney for a day or two. Can you guess who it is?

Best Friend # 1
Katie

Katie and I have been friends since the 6th grade. We went to Disney together on our Senior Trip and I am completely embarrassed to report that we wore matching outfits. I'm even more embarrassed to report, it probably won't be the last time either.

She is now a High School English Teacher. Katie has traveled all over the country as the sponsor of her High School's Debate Team. Will there be a Debate Tournament in Orlando in January?

Best Friend # 2
Evangeline

(E is the short one. Hehe!)

Evie is my baby sis and those of you from the Snowbirds have heard alot about her. She is my polar opposite and the love of my life.

She lives in New Orleans right now while she is finishing school. Evie is known for her random road trips. Will she drive to Orlando before she starts a new semester to spend time with her favorite sis?

Best Friend # 3
Tina

T was my roommate and co-worker on the Disney College Progam. It is insanely rare that co-workers would live in the same building, much less the same apartment. We were destined to meet.

T is and born and raised New Yorker. Has she decided to pack up her life and move to the Sunshine State?

Stay tuned to find out.....

HAHA about the nerds car. I just read it.. I have been seeing a lot of those around here lately! I saw a Reeses Pieces one and a McDonalds one. I don't know what those people are thinking? :confused3

I'm going to guess Katie.. just because I like her name. :rotfl:

Are you serious? People are so crazy in these parts! I told my story to a co-worker and she said there is a neon orange school bus on Old Mansfield Road with "Miz Peaches Ghetto Bar-B-Que" painted on the side of it. They really sell food out of it! I bet it's good.

I would like to guess......Tina! She's sick of New York winters, just dumped her boyfriend and needs a getaway. She planned a Disney trip to find a real Prince!!! did i get it, huh, huh?!!! This is fun!! In the first picture--is Katie the one on the left?
