Okay guys, somebody please go back and read your thread about the banquet night of the convention, 'cause I asked you all some questions, but you haven't been back to it since, and I need somebody in the know to fill me in!!

I'll be waiting---patiently of course......Thanks everybody!:D

I don't quite remember all the details.

I believe you were required to buy the package unless you could prove your residence was within 40 miles of Disneyland.

So if you are out of town, you will probably have to buy a package.

I know you can register for the auction and attend that without buying the whole package. That is 25 dollars.

Whether packages are still available I would contact this email for information. You can ask whether walk in registration is allowed.

WDW.Disneyana.Convention@disney.com

or you can call (407) 827-7600.

As to who attends this convetion. It is mainly collectors and Disney fanatics. As you can see, seberal people fromthe collector's board are attending. This will be my second full time attendance. It is really a good time. The events in the evening are fun for any Disney fan. There are classes and lectures on the history of Disney. It is not only fun but educational as well.

I hope this answers most of your questions.

Sorry for not answering.....I had to work. :(

David is correct. Unless you live within 40 miles of the site of the convention you have to buy the package. The only exception is is you are a Disney Vacation Club Member. If you use your points to book the hotel, you get the inside 40 mile rate.

The convention in the past has been limited to between 1800-2000 attendees.

Who goes??? Why Disney Fanatics who else??? :D

The banquet has been good and bad since I've attended.

1997 The costume thing......bad
1998 Great.....like a Broadway show
1999 Tarzan Safari theme on a scale of 1-10 this was a 5 Disney can do better
The best part of the 1999 banquet was the DJ who played after the production.
2000 Haley Mills and Richard Sherman were the Masters of Ceremony Very nice.

I've met
Pat Carroll the voice of Ursula
Lillian Bliss the voice of Anastasia from Cinderella
Dick Jones the voice of Pinocchio
Eddie Carroll the voice of Jiminy Cricket
Marc Davis one of the "9 Old Men" and the animator/creator of Sleeping Beauty & Tinker Bell plus others
He designed Haunted Mansion and Pirates for the opening of DL
Alice Davis original costumer for Pirates and Small World in Disneyland
Tim Considine (Spin)
David Stolley (Marty)

So many more I forgot

This year the Mouseketeers will be there. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Hope this helps. If your interested go to the web site David has listed. Maybe we'll see you there!

Last year was our first Disneyana Convention. We tried to take part in all the
events but did a lot of wandering around. This year we should be ok. DH
will pin trade and I will soak up the Disney lore and events. I loved seeing
Haley Mills and am looking forward to the Mousketeers Reunion and seminar.

I understood that you must purchase a package if you lived gt 40 miles from Disneyland.
The package included four nights accommodations, theme park tickets, two (2)
breakfast coupons, one (1) lunch coupon and admittance to convention events.
I didn't even know that you could attend the auction without having an all events pass.

Conventioneers are also given a pre-registration package for next years events on the
last day, and are given an incentive to pre-pay early. The incentive gift this year is a sculpture called "California or Bust". This figurine was designed by one of Disney's talented Design Group artists, Alex Maher and features Mickey and friends as they travel to California to join the rest of the family at the "Disney Family Reunion"
