Okay, I know shoes have been covered and I have read about Crocs and Tevas...but haven't seen anyone mention Birkenstock Birki's...the water resistant all non leather sandal. I am trying to make a decision and was wondering if anyone has these how they compare comfort wise to regular birkenstock footbed birks - which is what I already own. But I am not too comfortable wearing my Birks in the rain or on water rides. It has been engrained in me since I bought these almost a decade ago to not go jumping through puddles and use my cork sealer and I am one geek who has, religiously, lol. Now, my DH will wear his in the water - but I just won't.

So, I have been trying to find some sandals for the family that are more water resistant. I am really thinking my DD (3) will like the birki's because she already has a pair of Teva's and they aren't her faves. I only have a pair of Reef's and I like them, but don't know about wearing them in the parks. They are old, from maybe 93 I think. Back when the only Tevas I ever saw were the flat sole hurricane ones.

Anyways! I tend to tangent. I have heard great reviews on Tevas either Pretty Rugged Nylon or Terra-Fi and those are the two I am looking at and going to go try on soon.

But I am also interested in these Birkis and just looking for any comments from any who may already own a pair.

Thanks a Bunch!

Hi, I just wanted to bump this up.

I just bought my first pair of Birkenstocks and they are Birkis "Fuji" style made with the Birko-flor. I absolutely love them for the comfort and have ordered another pair - the thong style in birko-flor.

I was also wondering if I could wear these in the parks in August when it rains spontaneously just about every day??

For the Birkenstock fans, how does the arch support compare between the different styles?? I want LOTS of ARCH SUPPORT!! What is the best model for arch support??

Thanks for any info

I have a pair of Birki's as well as many pairs of regular Birks. My Birki's are ok, but not as comfortable or supportive. For a waterproof sandal, I prefer Croc's or Keen's. Both of them are very comfortable.

I don't have the waterproof Birks, but I have regular ones. I LOVE them. My feet and leg never hurt. I can wear them all day. I also have Born sandles and they are not near as comfortable as my Birks.

I'll bump you.

I wear rocket dogs (flip flops) rain or shine. Most comfy on my feet.

I don't like Birks (I will no longer "break" shoes in.??!!. I don't wear Crocs (too ugly and I do not wear plastic shoes...).

Hi, I have many pairs of Keens and really like them for the wet weather, I just thought the Birkis were comfy with a better arch support than my Keens.

Do regular Birkenstock sandals have better support than Birkis?? I thought they were the same???

Sorry if I hijacked this thread. :guilty: Just any info helps. I hate sore feet.

TIA

Thanks for the info!

Lives4Disney - this is what I found on the birk site about arch support

Classic Support

Pronounced arch support, including pronounced metatarsal (ball of foot) support.

High Arch Support

Our highest, most aggressive arch support.

Moderate Arch Support

A subtle to moderate arch and metatarsal (ball of foot) support.

Most of the regular Birks I saw, I couldn't keep going through many, but most I saw like Florida (my fave) or Milano (the ones I have on now) have the Classic Support while the Birki's I looked at like Aruba, Haiti or Sansibar have moderate.

Now, I myself have flat feet and my Milano's are just at their most comfortable stage now, and I bought these in college either in 94 or 95. maybe my flat feet are why its taken me so long to get them comfortable? My DH has had his probably just over a year and loved his since the day he got them. Not that I didn't love mine, but it took me a while. I actually wore them more in the winter with wooly socks while in school. Anyways....

I wish there was some big giant superstore where I could try all these on instead of having to go all over creation, lol.

Thanks again!
