It's funny how my feet preferences have changed over the years, and I agree shoes are a very personal thing. My very first WDW trip as an adult- I brought my regular shoes I walked in all the time- which were Birkenstocks and
Crocs Athens. They were both AWFUL. The Birks that I had worn for years with nary an issue got wet on the first day and gave me a nasty blister that made walking very difficult for the rest of the trip. I switched to my equally comfortable Crocs Athens and they rubbed me raw between my toes. It was truly miserable. I had all the necessary blister bandages, moleskin, etc. And while that made me physically able to walk, it still wasn't comfortable or pleasant.
I hate having my feet in socks and sneakers in the heat. I just can't do it. So for the next trip I read a lot on here and ended up bringing Teva Olawahu and some Keens. The Tevas were so comfortable I wore them the entire trip and my feet did fine. No complaints. I wore Teva Olawahu (always a new pair, they don't last real long- especially after 10 days at Disney) for my next WDW trip as well as 2 trips to DL. It was literally almost all I wore. Then we took a trip to DL last year- I had my Teva Olawahu and I don't know if they changed the footbed or what but they KILLED me. My ankles hurt so bad I could hardly walk. One afternoon at the hotel I wore my DH's way too big sneakers because I just needed something else on my feet. Thought I recovered enough to go back to the parks and hadn't so we went right to the Sanuk store in DTD and I bought some of the yoga slings. They were a welcome relief but my feet still hurt that entire trip.
So- for our upcoming trip I have been researching what would be best for me. I like flip flops, they are what I wear most of the summer. I figured maybe I need more support as I get a little older

so have been trying to find better arch support. I think I have narrowed it down to my Olukai Ohanas, which are incredibly comfortable, Chaco sandals and Cobian Bounce flip flops, all which I am spending the summer breaking in. I also have Sanuk yoga mats, Yellowbox mellow mat and Skechers Reggae Rasta- which may make the cut, too, but the outer arch support is strange for me.
This is way longer than I intended it to be- there are a lot of comfy shoes out there and I do believe sometimes some trial and error is involved. I have had great trips where my feet never hurt and shorter trips that my feet killed me the entire time. I am nervous to not have my old tried and true Tevas coming along, but I am hoping my feet will feel better with my new choices!
