Shoes to wear at Disney???

Skip the flip flops... Try Running shoes over flip flops. I currently wear keens.

I rotate between 2 or 3 pair. My Croc sandals, a pair of sneakers, and for when my feet are really sore, my Mickey-head Croc clogs.

The ones with all the fabric? If so, we're very opposite. Those kill me if I wear them for a block. Cuteness for days, but youch. Whereas the ones DS got, that are thicker on the bottom and just feel different, and are just plain flipflops, are so so so so comfy. His feet are now bigger than mine and those Sanuks were the same size as my foot, so I've taken them from him. :)

No. The ones with all the fabric kill me between my toes and make me feel like I'm the last person on earth practicing Chinese foot binding. Mine look like normal flip flops, have a cushioned band, and the bottoms are all rubber (or whatever that squishy yoga mat stuff is). The Yoga Paradise is my favorite style.

I am in agreement about the Teva sandals. They are very comfortable to walk around in. If you go on amazon, you can find them a little cheaper that the are on the teva website.

I wear Dansko sandals. Whatever you choose, wear them on a few long walks at home to make sure they are comfy.

It's funny how my feet preferences have changed over the years, and I agree shoes are a very personal thing. My very first WDW trip as an adult- I brought my regular shoes I walked in all the time- which were Birkenstocks and Crocs Athens. They were both AWFUL. The Birks that I had worn for years with nary an issue got wet on the first day and gave me a nasty blister that made walking very difficult for the rest of the trip. I switched to my equally comfortable Crocs Athens and they rubbed me raw between my toes. It was truly miserable. I had all the necessary blister bandages, moleskin, etc. And while that made me physically able to walk, it still wasn't comfortable or pleasant.

I hate having my feet in socks and sneakers in the heat. I just can't do it. So for the next trip I read a lot on here and ended up bringing Teva Olawahu and some Keens. The Tevas were so comfortable I wore them the entire trip and my feet did fine. No complaints. I wore Teva Olawahu (always a new pair, they don't last real long- especially after 10 days at Disney) for my next WDW trip as well as 2 trips to DL. It was literally almost all I wore. Then we took a trip to DL last year- I had my Teva Olawahu and I don't know if they changed the footbed or what but they KILLED me. My ankles hurt so bad I could hardly walk. One afternoon at the hotel I wore my DH's way too big sneakers because I just needed something else on my feet. Thought I recovered enough to go back to the parks and hadn't so we went right to the Sanuk store in DTD and I bought some of the yoga slings. They were a welcome relief but my feet still hurt that entire trip.

So- for our upcoming trip I have been researching what would be best for me. I like flip flops, they are what I wear most of the summer. I figured maybe I need more support as I get a little older ;) so have been trying to find better arch support. I think I have narrowed it down to my Olukai Ohanas, which are incredibly comfortable, Chaco sandals and Cobian Bounce flip flops, all which I am spending the summer breaking in. I also have Sanuk yoga mats, Yellowbox mellow mat and Skechers Reggae Rasta- which may make the cut, too, but the outer arch support is strange for me.

This is way longer than I intended it to be- there are a lot of comfy shoes out there and I do believe sometimes some trial and error is involved. I have had great trips where my feet never hurt and shorter trips that my feet killed me the entire time. I am nervous to not have my old tried and true Tevas coming along, but I am hoping my feet will feel better with my new choices!

I don't think there is any right answer since there are so many variables among people.

I have never been able to wear anything but Birkenstocks for walking any kind of distance. The problems arise when we have these out-of-nowhere quick Florida rain showers. Obviously Birkenstocks can't get wet, so I would have to take them off and go barefoot while my pricey Birks were protected in my bag.

This year Birkenstocks has come out with some EVA sandals that are made out of Crocs type material. I just got a pair. They are not attractive, and kind of remind me of neon traffic cones, but seriously comfy. The best part is that they can get wet and be washed off and dried. I'll be trying them out at Disney in a few months for the first time, but will also be bringing back-up Birks just in case.

The only time I've tried to wear closed shoes at Disney, I ended up with huge blisters on the bottoms of my feet and unable to walk at all. I had to rent an ECV for the rest of the week. Only flips for me.

I wore Keen Rose during our 7 day trip in June and they were awesome. My feet never hurt, even after 11 hours in the parks

I take 3 pair of shoes with me. Two pair of Nike sneakers, identical except that one pair is a bit newer than the other, and one pair of sandals. The sandals I am taking this year are Teva, and they are hands down the most comfortable sandals I have ever put on my feet.

I'm here now and I can tell you from experience ....blisters can do you in! I brought three pairs of Nike flip flops with squishy comfort soles. It's like angels kissing your feet. But.....I made some cute red with white polka Keds. While I got tons of compliments, even someone took a picture....my feet had two LARGE blisters on the soles of both feet. The next two days I suffered terribly. Iced at night, etc. I shuffled through the parks but...man oh man!

I needed to stick to my tried and true flip flops! Find what comfortable every day for you and wear those!!!!

I bought my Teva Tirras two years ago for our trip to Universal. Wore tennis shoes the first day and ended up with horrible blisters, even though the shoes were well broken in. Switched to the Teva sandals and wore them the rest of the week. Wonderfully comfortable, and didn't have to worry about getting them wet, as they dry quickly. And really good arch support, which I need.

Hey i am going to Disney World and Universal Orlando this summer and i want to know what shoes should i wear i have both tennis shoes and flip flops which shoes should i wear???

Whatever you wear on a day-to-day basis and find comfortable is what you would probably want to stick with. If you can walk around shopping all day in flips, then you can probably do it in the parks as well.

I would recommend bringing a stick of Body Glide with you. As soon as you feel a hotspot begin to form on your foot, just rub it with some of the Body Glide and the blister will be stopped in its tracks. You can also use the Body Glide if your thighs rub together; it will totally prevent any chaffing. It's a very valuable item to have along with you on your trip!

I bring/wear a variety of shoes while at WDW. My feet act up less if I change up my footwear a bit. I have a small bone spur and plantar fasciitis in one of my feet, so I have to be careful with my choices.

I always make sure to only bring footwear that I have already broken in and know won't leave me blistered. I think it really depends on the individual person.

This year's assortment:
1 pair of Polo boat shoes
2 pair of Sketcher flip flops (1 pair is several years old and have those ridges so it's like getting a foot massage as you walk. So sad they discontinued this line. The other I got not too long ago and am currently breaking in. They are made from the same material as a yoga mat and feel amazing). Both pair have the cloth between the toes instead of plastic. Prevents chafing for me.
1 pair of Converse all-stars. Not sure how this are going to do yet. Just got them a few months ago.
1 pair of Coach "Barrett" tennis shoes. Best $60 I ever spent. These shoes have been on 5 trips to WDW, 2 trips to Vegas and a trip to DL. Still look like new and I have never had any sort of blisters or foot pain after wearing them.

Only listed brands for recommendation purposes. Cannot sing the praises of the Skecher flip flops and Coach "Barrett" tennis shoes enough.

i wear sanuk flip flops. with the two cloth straps around the foot. and i wear Fit Flops. both are so amazing. and can get wet and dry fast.

Sanuk flip flops for me.

The IMPORTANT thing is you wear whatever you're used to walking around in. Don't buy new shoes the week before and wear them. Don't wear shoes you don't generally already walk around in.

I went to Kentucky Kingdom this past weekend with some friends and one decided to wear his flip flops which he's worn before but this pair was new (about a month old) and he hasn't really been wearing them for long. Ended up with back pain during the day and painful calves the next morning.

A few years back I went to another local theme park with a friend who had just bought new sandals and he ended up with blisters on his feet before the day was done!

I always wear flip flops to the parks. I go with Hurley Phantoms which come with the surfer top so dry quickly if it gets wet and they have Nike Free souls so they have plenty of support

It kind of all depends on the person, the weather, the amount of walking, etc. My first trip I wore flip flops the entire time, I did it another trip because i had a broken toe and couldn't manage closed toed shoes.
Second trip, I wore runners most days, sandals if I had a dress or something.
Nowadays its Toms, all day everyday, unless it's cold enough for boots.

I say bring sandals and runners, and alternate when your feet start to hurt, if you have a half day in the parks, that's a good day to test out the sandals. I also always regret only having toms and not having sandals for when you get back after a long day and want to run down to the food court or pool but dont want to put on the shoes you've had on all day!

DW is always in flip flops . I have low hikers every day My feet hurt at the end so I know DW is hurting but still goes on at Disney lol . One more thing DW brings two pair of shoes each day , one pair may brake
