Shoes for kids

Well, the shoes I got for my ds9 and ds5 are not going to work. I'll be bringing their tried and true gyms. But they wanted open heeled sandals/shoes but I'm finding that they are slipping from side to side or off completely. Ugh. Please post suggestions for the best shoes for kids....comfortable....breathable....minimize blisters. I know they need to break them in and I'm seriously running out of time. I appreciate everyone's help!

I saw Teva Hurricanes on deep discount through Sierra Trading Post. Are they good? Other ideas?

For my dd who is 11 she wants to wear crocs. I'm going to put Scholls linings in for extra comfort and protection against blisters. For my son, I want to buy sandles that have a closed hard toe on them. He is a Type One Diabetic and they have to take extra care of their feet.

Anyways, I think everyone is different. I've heard of people wearing flip flops but I personally can't imagine walking a lot in a crowded place with flip flops. I'm reading a book on Disneyland and the author recommends wearing socks. Socks? not for me. My feet get much too hot.

I'm going to wear Mary Jane crocs with Scholls linings in also. I'm not a Croc wearer but if I'm going to be walking a lot comfort comes first.

Have you checked out Keens? They are closed toe and water resistant- my kids wore theirs all over disney. (me too)

Open backed? hmm my daughter trader off between her Keens and her Sketcher flip flops.

I was hesitant at first, but Crocs worked best for my DD6 and DS4. I actually got a pair of Disney Crocs off the Crocs outlet website for $9.99!!! for DD6 and then a pair of regular green Crocs for DS4 at our local Crocs outlet store. They wore them everyday at every park and never once got a blister!!!

I did have them wear them around the house, to the waterpark and outside to play in before the trip as well, just to make sure!

For me...I bought a pair of FitFlops on sale for $25.99 and they were the best investment ever!!! I LOVE them!!! Wore them everyday except one I think, when I wore my Crocs because it was raining buckets!!! My Crocs were fine as well and got them off the outlet site for $14.99 (Disney style and also a pair of criss-cross ones in black).

I love Teva! I actually bought my DD 6 and DS 4 each a pair and they love them. We used them at Six Flags as a test run for WDW later this summer. They were great for the water rides - dried pretty quickly, have excellent support, etc. My DH was so impressed we had to go back to the shoe store a few days later to get him a pair!

I see that you've already ordered the Keens - we love them! A tip- because they are closed-toed, the shoes tend to get a bit stinky after awhile. Just toss the sandals in the wash and air dry...good as new!

I was going to suggest Keens too!

I always check the end of season sales and buy bigger sizes so we always have them and don't have to pay full summer price for one season.
