Should we have water shoes to wear at the water parks? Are we OK with bare feet? I am afraid of the kids going down the slides and getting their feet caught if they have water shoes on. But will the pavement be too hot with out them? We'll be there in Sept., kids are 6 & 8. I know they'll end up lost if we are always taking them on & off.

Suggestions please?

Are water shoes even allowed at the water parks? How about the resort pools? We just spent 4 days at Jellystone campground and no water shoes were allowed in the pools. Now Im wondering about the resort pools?

You're allowed to wear water shoes at the water parks, though I think I read somewhere that you have to take them off on one or two of the larger slides. I found the concrete at Blizzard Beach was very rough, which is great to reduce the chance of slipping, but it's hard on feet that have already taken a beating in the parks. They sell Disney water shoes (around $10 for the adult sizes) just inside the entrance to Blizzard Beach. DH, 4yo DD, 7yoDS and I wore them all the time.

Water shoes are great...we used them for a trip to a water park in Williamsburg, VA last year. A word of caution though, be sure the insoles of the shoes are either sewn in or glued very well. Last year, I bought the cheapest ones I could find (insoles slipped in, not glued), and as soon as they were good and soaking wet the insoles started bunching up as we walked. You don't even want to hear about the miserable blisters that caused.

In May I went to a WDW water park for the first time, my sister and I didnt think about the ground bothering us, boy were we wrong!! I would definatly suggest getting some kind of shoes to wear especially if you are going to BB. I will never forget running to the shade of a leaf andthen having to share it with 4 other people! LOL :D

While I don't know about the Disney water parks, I do have experience with water parks locally. We go to Water Country in Portsmouth NH every summer, last year I didn't wear water shoes and my feet hurt so bad from the heat and from just walking on a hard surface with no support for your feet. I went out and bought water shoes and they were great! But, I also bought the cheap ones with the insoles that bunched up, but I took mine out they were lined underneath and were fine.

Hi,

Just a note to say that we alway wear watershoes to the water parks.

Some of the surfaces can be a big rough on the feet, so these are a boon. The Disney ones are more expensive than those bought outside WDW.

On some of the bigger slides you have to remove the shoes as a safety precaution.

:smooth:

OK, so when you have to remove the water shoes, what do you do with them? Do I need to have something to carry them in? Or do we just leave them at the entrance? Thanks for all the replies. This is a big help.

Michelle,

As far as I'm aware, you can wear anything into the parks - it doesn't matter.

On the rides where you can't wear them the best bet is to take them off and leave them with your luggage.

Some rides do allow you to hold onto them while you ride but others don't.
