Shoe Strategies

I ususally wear sneakers during the day when we are going at a more frenetic pace and my chaco sandals in the evening when we are at a more lesiurely pace. I always take two pairs of sneakers and enough socks to have two pairs per day. My wife does the same and she owns crocs but hasn't tried them at WDW. I don't have crocs, I've tried them on but can't seem to find one them fits my wide feet well.

I also have wide feet, and Crocs don't fit me, either. So I tried on the Coast Walkers from LL Bean (we have a store in our area) and they fit like a dream. But they are only out seasonally, as well as the ones by Lands End, which you can try on at any Sears. Just something to think about for the Spring.

Cros for sure!

BUT! Make you sure you get some BODYGLIDE. This is anti-blister and friction stuff that you can get a a sporting goods store or online and once you try it, there is no going back. NOTHING is better than this stuff, I swear!

While we were at WDW this past September, there was a lady waiting for the bus at EPCOT that had her left foot wrapped in bandages. She had worn the flip-flop Crocs and developed severe blisters between her toes. Therefore, I would hesitate using this footwear for extensive walking. My husband has a pair, but he and I wore New Balance running shoes at the theme parks.

Enjoy your trip! :cheer2:

For me, I LOVE my Teva Elixir flip flops. They have great support and are very comfy. I wore them each trip and never had any trouble. I did take my Dis Crocs on my last trip and got a blister. I could not wait to get to my room to change into my Teva's. My feet are small and do not "fill" the Crocs very well, so that may be why I got a blister. I love them at home, but not at WDW.

My dh has a pair of Crocs and the Payless version, Airwalks. He much prefers the Airwalk "crocs" to the real Crocs. He says that they have more of an arch support. Both trips, this is what he wore and he never had any trouble. My dd wore regular Crocs and had no trouble.

A comfy foot is a happy foot!

On my last trip in June (hot!) I wore my Teva strap sandals for 5 days straight, no problems. On my last winter trip (Jan) I wore my Lands End women's all-weather moccasins (they don't look like the moccasins you usually think of, just look like suede loafers) every day for 4 days.

This next trip in January, I think I'll switch between the two but wear socks with the sandals. I'm assuming the socks won't be a problem. (I don't think I'll look too goofy since I wear jeans the whole trip.)

Crocs, Crocs and more Crocs. I have three pair plus my flip flops and I plan to alternate through them when we are there in a few days. Two years ago we did DL for five days in our Crocs and never heard one complaint from the kids about their feet hurting. And I never had a problem either. I'm sure the kids will take tennis shoes but I anticipate everyone wearing Crocs most of the time.

Whatever brand of shoe you wear, make sure you've broken them in and know exactly how they feel for you!
Bring 2-3 pairs and alternate them.
I bring my Brooks Addiction 7 with orthotics, my Keen Monterey sandals, and my Earth shoes. I have Crocs for by-the-pool wear.

I took 2 pairs of Crocs and a light pair of sneakers with me in September. I definately spent more time in the Crocs.

I remember a time where I used to comment on people in WDW wearing flip-flops. I could never imagine how their feet didn't hurt after a long day in the parks. Years ago, I used to wear sneakers to Disney. But at the end of the day, my feet were sore, sweaty, my socks would bunch and I had blisters from the shoes rubbing. And when my feet are hot, sore, sweaty & my socks move, I get a little cranky! Just ask my DH!:rotfl2: So, one year, I took my sister's advice and wore my Reefs to the parks (with my sneakers in my backpack) Pure heaven :cloud9: IMHO!! No more sweaty feet, no socks, blisters and no crankiness. Now, I only wear my Reef flip-flops in WDW everyday, on every trip! They are so comfy and broken in. I couldn't imagine wearing anything else while in WDW!

We always go with "New Balance"

I agree! I have really bad feet (joint replacement, arthritis, have steroid injections) and have found that New Balance is the best! The higher the number, the better the shoe. I don't have to break them in and my feet are fine.

This for me:

Wow,great info. are Tevas easily avaliable? The only problem with crocs for me is I have a VERY narrow foot and they don't fit either. I guess you have to be Medium width. I will also try the New Balances, see what fits the best. Keep em comin, love it!

You can usually find Teva's at Dick's Sporting Goods stores or places like that. I've seen them at some discount stores on occasion like Ross, TJ Maxx, or Marshall's.

I would go to a store, try on a pair you like and see if you can order them online for a cheaper price. I've gotten my Teva's from shoebuy.com and ebay.

With a narrow foot, the Crocs would not be your best bet. My feet are not very narrow, just a small sz 6, and wearing Crocs all day was not a good thing.

The Tevas were very hard to find today, so I got New Balances and Crocs. But I got the furry kind. Much more comfortable and fit well. Totally different, I would not have bought without the fur. Great for my narrow foot. They feel like slippers. :cloud9:

I usually wear running sneakers- lately it has been the Adidas Megabounce, the most comfortable sneakers I have ever had. I'll also wear some type of moisture wicking sock. If you don't have bodyglide to reduce friction, some solid deodorant will usually works.

I went for 11 days last August. I bought three pairs of sandels and the second day in, I was in pain and I could barley walk. I bought a pair of Mickey crocs in the gift shop and they were great. I wore them for the rest of the trip.

From here on in, I will only bring one pair of shoes and they will be my crocs. I wore no socks with them and had no problems at all.

Has to be crocs - my husband has always laughed at mine but this year I bought him a pair and he wore them every day. On our last day he came back from the bathroom and said some guy had asked whether they were comfy - and DH said "unfortuntely yes! They are far more comfortable than trainers for a day at a themepark"... of course the minute we got home he told me to pack them away for our next trip as he would not be wearing them in the real world! :rotfl:

I have had blisters the last two trips with my sneakers. Bottoms of the feet and between the small toe. What do you do about that. I carry a tone of bandages and go to the medical office in the parks. Thanks
