I thought it might be fun and maybe informative to share what shoes you wear for exercising and why.

I wear the NB 790s which are trail racing flats and the Muzino Revolver which is a road racing flat. I like a lot of room in the toe box area but a snug fit on my heels. I don't like a shoe that's tight on the top of my foot either.

I have a normal to high arch and medium wide foot. I need a low heel but lots of cushion for walking.

Erica wears the NB 790s for all her training and racing. She also likes lots of toe room and has a flat arch. Her foot is long and narrow.

What do the rest of you wear and what do you like about it?

I run and train in Brooks Adrenaline GTS 6. I've tried Nike, too narrow in the toe box--tried NB too wide in the toe box--Brooks, just right. They are very comfortable. I am ready to try the GTS 7, to see if the soles wear better--the 6's seem to wear out quickly!

I have "retired" 2 pairs of Brooks Glycerines due to mileage. They have been my favorites so far. Great fit, durability and cushioning. Also, very lightweight.

I have shelved a pair of Brooks Axiom 2's. Eventhough they are lime green and very lighweight, it felt as though there wasn't enough cushioning. Does anybody want a pair of size 12's with low mileage?

I am currently training in a pair of Brooks Adreneline 7's. They are alot like the Glycerines, but with a little more stability. I'm having a little bit of cramping along the outside edge of my right foot, after running that I haven't had with the other shoes. The soles seem to be wearing faster than the Glycerines.

I plan to go back to the Brooks Glycerines with my next purchase.

Two pairs of ASICS Kayanos...:cloud9: ... GREAT for short runs

Saucony Hurricane Grid 8.... for longer miles...more cushioning and stability :thumbsup2

ASICS Gel Evolution collecting dust because I didn't buy wide width.

I have "difficult" feet, since I have wide (re: platypus bill) feet, bunions and hammertoes on both second toes. Not pretty, I know. I've had bunion surgery and hammertoe surgery on the right and need both on the left. :scared:

I also have pretty low arches.

I am also a "bootylicious" runner, carrying about 40 extra pounds, so the Hurricanes take the pounding a little better than the Kayanos.

Geez, the more I think about it...my poor feet! I should probably forget this running thing and take up knitting or something where I can sit down!

OK this is probably more than you wanted to know. Sorry. :upsidedow

Hi all,
I retired a pair of NB 766's and bought a pair of ASICS Kayanos because the local running store didn't carry NB's. I like them a lot. But, I miss my NB's so I plan on buying a pair of NB 767's the newer version of the 766's. I like the wide toe box on both of these shoes.

I also have a pair of Reebok Premier something or others that I use for shorter runs and on the treadmill. These were purchased 1/2 price when I bought another pair of shoes. They aren't really too bad although the toe box is a bit narrow.

enjoy,
Duane

Judy we nearly went broke trying to find shoes that Erica wouldn't blister in. She has Bunion problems also as well as flat arches.

Another problem I have is sore ankle bones from long walks. So I need shoes that don't rub the ankle bones. The slope of the roads someplaces make it even worse.

I use Asics Nimbus. Love them, but the podiatrist thinks that are a little too heavy for distance running. So when my current pair wear out, I may be looking for some new ones that are lighter. She says now that I have custom orthotics, I don't have to be as fussy with the arch support.

Actually the Nimbus is fairly light as running shoes go. If you insist on changing, remember "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Unless you are very light and efficient runner the added cushioning will help keep your knees and joints happy. Any weight reduction is usually in the amount of cushion a shoe has.

Dave,

I use Montrail Hardrock Trail shoes. They are beasts(big and heavy) but I like the feel and support. I get a good deal from Montrail on them because I am a RD.

As Montrail website states:

Animal:
For the toughest mountain trail races
Crossing passes
Thru-hiking

They work well up here at the Lake:)

Brooks Adrenaline GTS 6 here also. But I'd like to see how the 7's are. I haven't been anywhere to try them. I'll probably get the 6's again, as they are quite a bit cheaper still!

Robert, Erica and I are awaiting the new Muzino Universe. It is 3 ozs and cushioned for a racing flat. We saw a prototype at the Flying Pig Expo.

Dave - thanks for the info on Nimbus. My podiatrist is a runner and she couldn't believe how heavy my shoes were. It made me think. I noticed that Asics came out with a new shoe for distance running. I think they are called Ohana and are supposed to be the distance shoe for the nimbus. I was going to check those out.

I train & race in Asics Gel Nimbus 9's. I love the cushioning. Started with the 7's, then the 8's now in the 9's. I wear wide width & tie them funky to hold my heel in tight. My foot is wide in the front & I have a narrow heel.

Asics Gel Kayanos and 2120s. However, I think the Kayanos aggravated my PF.

I'm still searching for the perfect running shoe.

The Kayanos are pretty stiff for stability. The PF is given a better range of motion by a shoe with more flex. The Brooks and Muzino shoes have more flex.

The search for the perfect shoe can be expensive and frustrating, especially if you and your lady both run/walk. What I've never figured out is why a shoe works wornderfully for a while then just doesn't anymore. I think maybe as your foor gets stronger and leaner with exercise it's needs change.

I'm in Brooks Radius 6, my second pair. This is what I wore for the WDW Half last year; when I replaced them I went up half a size. I'm not 100% sure this is the shoe I need as I train longer distances for the full this year but up until now I've really loved them!

Right now the last years Brooks models are cheap. I saw the Radius on sale at the Sierra trading post site for $29. The Runningwarehouse had some good prices also.

Nimbus are my shoes of choice. I have very high arches and wide feet. I also run in Mizuno Wave Riders and Brooks Epiphany. I currently have 5 pair of running shoes in roatation:rotfl2: . They are my closet addiction that makes DH crazy:headache: .

Thanks for the heads-up; unfortunately the ones on Sierra are men's! Man, I could have stocked up!
