Shocking quote from the WDW boards

Are they sure they were on POTC? :confused3
They probably went on Storybook by accident. :lmao:

That's funny. I've never heard of anything that was "too long" at DL, except lines of course.

On our WDW trip probably one of the few things my DH decided we did (because we had to) that we really could have skipped was Pirates. As he put it, "They forgot half the ride."

:wizard:

Nothing to see??? Maybe they were very short and were sitting in the middle of the boat with very large adults all around or blinded by someone's rude flash photography.:confused3

As a life-long WDW person (been there more 20 times) whose first trip to DL was a week ago, all I can say is :rotfl:

Rides in common and which is better:

Big Thunder: WDW

All just my opinions of course.

I agree with most of what you posted. I've been to each park more than 50 times, but I greatly prefer Big Thunder at DL more. It is wilder and faster!

By the way, am I the only who HATES the logs on Splash Mountain in CA? I like the single-file deal, its scarier going down the flumes, but those back rests just about did me in on the lift hills. Sheesh!

I agree, I did not enjoy my ride on Splash Mtn, I didn't feel safe in the logs..... I know, I'm probably the only one that felt that way. I didn't have anything to brace my feet on & not being buckled in....I really felt I could fall out. And yes, the back rests did hurt a bit. Just my experience with it... the rest of my family loved it.

Interesting....I actaully like SM better at WDW...DL makes me barf.... But Pirates DL ROCKS so much harder...the line is BETTER at WDW..but hey who really waits in line for POTC?!?! :)

Marsrunner I totally agree with your list! But teacups is a tie for me. Because I like them open at DLR but also like the cover from that hot sun or rain in WDW.

Where is there nothing to look at? It's like 10 seconds long and just getting you in the pirate mood....some people just need to sit back and enjoy the ride!

Yeah, I would like the tea cups better uncovered unless it was really hot or raining. I don't remember if they still do, but I seem to remember the tea cups in FL having metal spinners (or whatever you call them in the middle of the cup that you turn). Those would burn the heck out of your hands with no covering! :) What are they like in CA? I didn't ride it because it was raining that day.

I agree with some other comments...I absolutely prefer DL PotC except for the exterior facade and queue area. Problem is, the exterior facade in FL wouldn't mesh well with some of my favorite things about the DL version; the Blue Bayou restaurant, the fireflies, the banjo music and the old man on the porch. Oh, and minor thing, but I like where Jack is positioned at the very end of the ride in FL better...its a more expansive treasure room rather than a treasure broom closet like in CA. Of course, I wish they hadn't added the movie stuff to the ride at all and left it un-PC, but it doesn't bother me that much. pirate:

Do you mean Space Mountain (rather than Splash Mountain :))? I can't agree with that. I don't know how long its been since you rode Space in FL, but it is so ridiculously rough now. The one in CA is SO smooth.

:scared1: I have to admit... I am ALL ABOUT WDW! I'm honestly not even really all the big of a fan of DL, I appreciate it for the fact that it's the original and that it's a lot easier for me to get to since I live in AZ, but that's about it.... but that is just wrong! I will totally give it to DL, POTC is WAY better at DL!!!!

Yeah...I meant Space Mountain...what is the code for that...;) I am new! I have not been to Florida since 2002....but still CA makes me dizzy and a bit barfy! :)

SM is widely accepted as Space Mountain here.

I did the new DL one in '06 (but I didn't know it had just been renovated as I was a noob then) and the WDW one in '07. At that point, I couldn't tell the difference, but I now recall the DL one to be more thrilling. Of course, opinions vary.

As far as POTC goes, at WDW I was expecting that big drop at DL, but didn't get it! I had my arms ready to thrust up in the air, and then... sploosh...:confused3

Even though they really are the same ride, I'm gonna have to give the edge to DL's Dumbo simply because of the nice pool of water and fountains it sits on vs. the slab of cement at WDW. :)

Can't say that I agree about Pooh, I think DL's is pretty awful but I rather enjoy the one at WDW (whether or not it was worth tearing down Mr. Toad for is a whole 'nuther story!).

Snow White, I like both but prefer the more gratifying happy ending on WDW's version vs. the abruptness of DL's ending.

I sooo agree about DL's Splash logs being torture devices. :scared: Yeah, it makes the drops a tiny bit more thrilling, but at what price? LOL. I like being able to sit back and relax in a REAL seat on WDW's Splash.

I really like the non-covered Tea Party (feels more outdoorsy and garden-like). The one at WDW reminds me more of a tent at a carnival, but I understand the necessity of having them covered there.

Both Peter Pans are good, but flying in amongst the stars above Neverland at DL gives it the edge for me.
:thumbsup2

As a life-long WDW person (been there more 20 times) whose first trip to DL was a week ago, all I can say is :rotfl:

Rides in common and which is better:

Disneyland Railroad: Disneyland
AstroOrbitor: WDW (just because of where it is)
Autopia/Indy Speedway: Disneyland
Buzz Lightyear: Disneyland
HIStA: Equal
Space Mountain: Disneyland
Star Tours: Equal
Dumbo: Equal
Small World: Disneyland
Carousel: Equal
Tea Party: WDW (covered so not closed in rain)
Peter Pan: WDW
Snow White: about the same
Big Thunder: WDW
Tikis: Disneyland
Jungle Cruise: WDW (indoor temple is better)
Haunted Mansion: WDW
Pirates: Disneyland
Splash: WDW (the Disneyland logs are torture devices)
Winnie the Pooh: Disneyland
Soarin': Equal but better themeing at CA
Toy Story: Equal
Tower of Terror: WDW
Muppet Vision: Equal
Tough to be a Bug: Equal, but the queue is way better at WDW

All just my opinions of course.

I agree with most of your list except:

I like Peter Pan better at DL - not sure why.....maybe it's the stars. I don't remember seeing the nighttime stars on the WDW Peter Pan, but maybe my memory is fuzzy.

I like Winnie the Pooh better at WDW - the ride vehicles actually bounce during the Tigger bouncing part.

I like BTMRR a little better at DL - both are great, but the one at DL is a little more fun for me.

Hey, I like the Storybook Canals, especially at night when the arches are all lit up. :)

I'm so confused...what Pirate ride were they talking about? Because it wasn't POTC! There is only 1 place where there is "nothing to see" and that's at the beginning as you're going around the bend, you can hear the skull talking but can't quite see him.....I love POTC, it's one of my absolute faves and a must do at least once per trip. :)

I personally do like the logs on Splash at DL (I've never been to WDW) but I usually sit in the back w/DD9 because she's now too short to ride in the front like she likes to.
