Shipwreck Cove Snorkel Tour in St Maarten

We're beginning to think about excursions for our next cruise and this one looked interesting, especially to my kids who love to snorkel and swim. I did a search on it and didn't find much. Has anyone been on the Shipwreck Cove tour in St. Maarten??? Just looking for opinions and experiences.

Julie...we did this tour on our first DCL cruise in 2001 and did not care for it. The water was very murky, what fish we did see were not very colorful. I probably would not do this excursion again.

I've only heard of one other person taking this excursion. I thought it sounded interesting too. We booked it. Two days before we arrived in St. Maarten we were notified that it was canceled because visibility was very poor. We went in January. From talking to CM's onboard, it sounds like snorkeling gets cancelled on St. Maarten with some regularity because it's on the "outer edge" of the caribbean and gets a lot of wind and choppy water from the Atlantic. We signed up for the Golden Eagle catamaran excursion (because it included snorkeling). The snorkeling part got cancelled (because of the visibility) and DCL let us cancel the excurision at the meeting area for the excursion because of it. Remember, the weather there was great We ended up doing a beach day on our own over at Orient Beach instead - and had a blast playing in the water, looking at the topless ladies (not to many actually and not much to look at), snickering at the couple of neked people that strolled by (Playboy this wasn't) and had the best chuckle when we noticed the tubby "white guy" a ways down the beach that decided that when in St. Maarten to do as the "French" St. Maartenians do. What he forgot was that the "sun hadn't shined down there" in like forever. So his lily white cheeks had turned a painful shade of red
