Ships Horn

Okay, one thing I can hardly wait for is to hear the horn. However, the same cannot be said for DD3. She hates loud noises and then develops strong aversions to whatever she associates the noise with! I certainly don't want to spend 7 days with her screaming for fear the horn will sound!

When does the first blast come? That way I can try to prepare her for the noise and will know when to cover her ears!

The things we moms worry about....

Don't worry they now ALWAYS annouce well before they are going to blow the horn.

They typicaly do it arriving and leaving at the ports, including leaving homeport.

And during each day at sea at noon!!! But as your DD will probably not be at the Quiet Cove Pool, she'll won't be shocked.

I can promise you, she definitely will not be there! I fully intend to be there with DH by ourselves!!! (Not to mention she's under 18 and not allowed!)

But thanks for the warning... I can just see me reading a book for the first time since having children-- totally lost in this rare experience-- and making a fool of myself by screaming at the horn!

And it is a lot louder in port than when the ship is under full sail. I didn't know they blow it at noon as even having lunch at Topsiders I didn't hear it.

Also note, they do blow the horn during the lifeboat drill. It's not the When You Wish Upon a Star one, it's three or four loud blasts. It's MUCH louder than the regular horn IMO, and really no way to avoid hearing that one.

Its seven loud blast, and the last blast is the longest.
