Shipping to Resort?

Hello,

Has anyone ever shipped to their "home-away-from-home" for their visit?

We are going for 10 days and there is no way everything is going to fit in the suitcases! We were thinking about shipping down things like some non-pershibles and the tolietries.

Has anyone done this? How has it worked out? Any problems I should look out for? Any advice?

Thanks so much!

We did this for our last trip to WL (not through DVC). It worked out great! I packed one box with diapers, baby wipes, some snack foods, and Halloween things for MNSSHP. I shipped it via FedEx ground. From Connecticut, it cost less than $7.00 and took only 3 days to arrive at the WL. I chose FedEx so I could easily track the shipment and I knew who signed for the package upon delivery. Once we were checked in, DH went to the front desk and asked for our package. No problems at all. I did write our name, reservation number and date of arrival on the package in several places.

Have a great trip!

many times - not only to dvc resorts. Like TDERadulski said - just send the package via fed ex or even ups - as long as you can track the package. You should be fine.

when they were charging for storing these boxes at the resort? I remember reading that a few years ago. Some people were charged a daily fee. Does anyone remember this or was I dreaming?

I would LOVE to hear more about this since we'll be going to HH for Christmas. (Maybe I can ship some Christmas decorations that way and not have to travel with the van being overstuffed!)

If the package arrives a couple of days early, what does the resort do? I would think this would be such a hassle for them, especially at the holidays if people ship presents, etc. I would rather have it arrive early since we check in on 12/24, but don't want the resort to throw it out!

How do you label your package? With your confirmation number and arrival date? Tell me more!! :D

hoosiergirl,
I just shipped a package to BCV. I shipped it UPS. Since I am 4 days away, I shipped it so it would arrive the day before we would arrive.

I addressed the package to BCV - "attention guest ___" (my name in the blank). I also put my name and arrival date on the outside of the box in a permanent marker.

After I checked in, I told the CM about the package. We got to our room, and the package arrived about 2 minutes later. No problems.

Thanks, ktbugsmom! That's the kind of info I was interested in! Did the front desk seem annoyed at all about having to deliver the package? Was there a charge?

Not to be the spoil sport in the crowd but...

My sister sent me a package this summer (I didn't know about it). It was marked with Guest - My name and arrival date. She called the dy after I arrived and it was a funny conversation. Finally, when I asked what was up, she asked if my DD liked the gift:scratchin :scratchin

She gave me the tracking info and the signature and I called the front desk. I was told no package, sorry. I than went down and stood there for 25 minutes while they dug for it. I was told in the future put my name, guest and arrival date:confused: They were less than thrilled when I pointed to that info on the package.

Moral of the story....Sometimes, surprise gifts don't work

InstImpres-
What I have found at Disney (just like any other place) is that some of the CMs are superb and other are not so great. When I first checked in, the CM was so-so. She never even told me my room was not ready, just handed me some keys. I asked for my room number, and she acted surprised and said "Well, it is not 4pm yet, so you room is not ready, of course." Oh well...

But, when I went back at 4pm - this CM was great. Super nice and polite. Thanked me for being patient. When I told him about the package - he could not have been nicer. He also called bell services for me and had my bags sent up as well. My bags were there in about 4 minutes (package in 2 minutes).

So - I suppose it depends on who you get if you are going to get good service...

hoosiergirl, there was not a charge and the CM I dealt with was wonderful about it. The CM who delivered it was also very pleasant and kindly offered to cut it open - since he knew we probably did not have a sharp knife in the room (studio).

InstImpres, you're not being a "spoil sport" just because you told us about your experience! That's just the type of info that we need to hear--"reality"!

ktbugsmom, your info is very helpful and encouraging. I just hope that the HH staff is understanding and helpful when I ship some things down there for our 9 day stay!

Autumngirl, I feel like I've "hi-jacked" your thread! :o Thanks for starting it, though. It has helped me out a lot!

Had a netgrocer order shipped to BCV in July and was charged a fee by the resort. I don't recall what they called the charge, maybe handling???? VWL didn't do this on our prior trip, so it was a suprise. I was told luggage is no charge, but I think the BIG netgrocer name across the box was the tip off ---- I didn't argue the charge, (truly.... it was hardly noticed on the PAGES and PAGES of out bill) .... not sure what I'll do next time ....
