I've thought about doing this but have a few questions. First of all, how far out to send it and what do you put on the box to make sure it's delivered to your room?

What all do you ship? Since we're going in Oct. what about costumes and such?

Also, if I'm shipping something home, is there a place at the resort to do that?
Who's done this before that can tell me what's best to do?

We're going Oct 7-15...if that helps.

We typically send our box a week ahead of time. Be sure to put your check-in date on the box! It won't be delivered to your room automatically -- you'll need to call bell services and ask for it to be delivered.

We ship our breakfast shake mix, and protein bars.

not sure if there's any facility to ship from resorts, but you could call main wdw number and ask. if not i'm sure there is a ups hub or mail boxes etc. nearby.

we have done this on our last couple of trips-i mail all of our shoes with the exception of those we will travel in, any water toys/flotation devices for kids, any surprises for kids (couple of travel games, coloring books, crayons), laundry tablets, a roll of bubble wrap (for breakable souvineers), roll of packing tape to repack box for mailing-and ANYTHING THE TSA WON'T ALLOW ME TO TAKE ON BOARD (mainicure set, disposable lighters). i also have thrown in a few magazines so i won't be tempted to read them before i leave home.

We have shipped cold cereal, juice boxes, cookies, snacks etc. a few days in advance to the resort. I really recommend it. As for shipping back, I'm not sure since we finished everything we shipped. LOL.

I am not sure about shipping things to the resort, but as far as shipping stuff home I am sure there are places nearby to have stuff shipped. I am not sure but UPS might come pick up a package from your room. I know you can take your Disney only stuff to your resort gift shop and they will ship it for youand you pay shipping fees.

dudedisney-
That's a great question! I was wondering exactly the same thing! Last year I saw a tower of Terror bath robe and wanted 2 get one for my daughter but didn't think I would be able 2 fit it in our carry on or luggage. Wasn't sure about how 2 go about sending it from resort hotel 2 home. I want 2 get it this year!! Anyone else do this???

We ship down all kinds of things for our condo stay, i.e., food, etc. We also ship home. I bring a UPS printed label with me for the return trip and we usually reuse the box we shipped down and if you take it to the front desk, they'll put with their UPS stuff to go out. I've also gone to the UPS store, picked up a box and packed everything and then gone to the UPS store to have it shipped home. There's a great UPS store behind the Premium Outlet Malls in the same plaza that the Publix's is in. The people at that UPS are great!

I forgot to mention that I usually ship about 8-10 days ahead to the resort and put my name and the word "guest" after it with my arrival date and then when we check in I just ask for our box. Yes, you could definitely pack your costumes and any other items you may want to include. Hope this helps.

We bought one of those big figures of Beauty and the Beast and when we paid for it we just asked that it be shipped to our house instead of taking it with us. They don't charge tax since it is going out of state. I think shipping was 15.00 on it but since we didn't have to pay sales tax we really only paid about 4.00 more to have it sent home, and it was a HUGE box. We purchased a big snow globe at DTD and they asked us if we wanted it shipped home too. We should have said yes, that big box was a pain to carry on and off the plane. At the Germany pavillion in Epcot, we bought some smurfs and the girl asked if we wanted them sent home too.

Don't forget to bring your tracking number with you in case the box gets lost.

My box was misplaced at the resort, and my tracking number was at home by the computer. It took a few hours, but they found it. UPS will not give you the tracking number over the phone.

How big is the Beauty and the Beast figure? I have not bought things before because I thought the shipping would be too expensive. $15 would be fine... Is it less expensive to pack things together and send them or to send things separately? Has anyone tried sending anything very heavy?

We paid 200 for the Beauty and the Beast figure, and let me tell you, it is HUGE! Since we had it shipped, there were no taxes on it. Shipping only cost us about 4.00 more than it would to have bought it and paid tax. I think total shipping was 14.00 - 15.00. The box was so big, the UPS man coudldn't carry it more than a few steps without having to put it down.

The box could have easily fit my 3 kids in it, the figures alone are about 2 1/2 feet tall.

We had it shipped from the store we bought it from, so I coudln't tell you about packing things together and sending them off.

Thank you so much for the information! boy this is going to change my shopping habits... Wow, I had visions of prices like $200 to ship something big and heavy

You can ship something FROM the resorts. Just bring it to the front desk and the staff are always very helpful.

The helpfulness of the resort staff may depend on the resort, or what you are shipping. We had too much stuff from the DVC cruise to carry it all home, and I asked at the desk at SSR. They said the problem was that I needed an empty box (and I big one, I might add), so they directed me to UPS. WHICH, by the way, has moved from the address they had - where I ended up at only had FedEx, which we used instead.

I was thinking of buying Mickey Christmas Ornaments while there for gifts for family members and thought shipping them home might be better than bringing them home with me on the plane...so could I do this directly from the shop? Or do I bring everything to my resort?

They usually ask if you would like to have them shipped home when you go to purchase items. If they don't just ask. So yes, you don't have to carry them with you.

Oh dear! We shipped a LOT of stuff to/from BCV two years ago, and had every intention of doing the same to/from SSR this December. We just handed shopping bags of our stuff across the counter at BCV, and they took it from there; boxed it, shipped it and charged our credit card. I'm going to have to think about shipping boxes, I guess.
