I've never shipped through paypal before, but read it is cheaper to print the label via paypal than going to the post office. I also read paypal will give the buyer tracking info where the post office charges you for that tracking.

Having said that, I want to ship something through paypal.

I do not have any shipping boxes or bags so I grabbed one of the free flat rate boxes from the post office. I don't think the stuff will fit in the small box, but it will fit in the medium box for sure.

It's clothes so it should be light. I'm thinking maybe 1-2 lbs at most.

Can I use the medium flat rate box from the post office and print my label from paypal, tape it on there and then just drop it off in the post office mailbox?

Is Paypal shipping pretty straight forward?

TIA!

Yes. Go to paypal.com/shipnow. Should be pretty self explanatory. You just choose and pay for the flat rate box, print and attach your label.

You do need to have a PP account.

If buyer sent you payment through PayPal goods, click on the prompt that says Print Label and follow the directions

Just be aware that a flat-rate box is going to cost you more to ship than a regular box unless you're shipping 4+ pounds. If you have the men's to weigh it yourself, the normal boxes make more sense.

last I checked you could print from USPS site and get tracking/ money savings also.

This. If it is clothing and fits in a medium box, it may be less to not use the flat-rate pricing.

Don't forget the flat rate envelopes! You can fit a lot in them you just have to be able to close the flap. If it fits it ships.

Bummer! That's what I was asking, but guess I wasn't clear.

I was hoping to use the medium flat rate box, but pay less to ship through paypal at home b/c I do not have a box.

So, I should find a regular box, huh?

What if I covered the box with brown paper and shipped through paypal? Is it the same price b/c of the size?

Covering it with brown paper may actually be a crime. It's illegal to use the boxes without paying for priority postage, and, since you have a "flat-rate" box, I imagine you're tied to that rate. They do, however, have plenty of "regular" priority mail boxes available. You can even order them online and have them delivered to your door for free.

Flat-rate postage is based on the size, while normal Priority Mail rates are based on weight. It gets more complicated when you find Regional-rate boxes, which are like flat-rate, but the price varies based on how far it's going.

The price is based on weight, unless your package is oversized. Go to the PO and get regular Priority boxes NOT flat rate boxes, they cost a lot more unless you are shipping heavy stuff. Shipping thru Paypal once you sell something is more convenience than the USPS site.
Your post isn't clear to me, you want to ship in a flat rate box but you don't have one???
Priority boxes are free and you save a little doing it online and PP gives you extra insurance free. You will have to weight your package though so you will need a scale.

Ok, I found a box that works. I took it to the post office and it weights 1lb 8 oz.

Paypal has all these different options for shipping.

I just want the cheapest option.

Media mail is the cheapest, but I'm not shipping "media" so I guess I can't use that.

I'm getting $7+ dollars to ship this little box. Does that sound right?

I'm just trying to ship it cheapest way possible.

Yes, a 2 lb. box (which yours is, Priority Mail rounds up to the nearest lb.) is between $5-8 to ship depending on zip code to zip code.

Did you sell the item through ebay? You can print a label right through ebay (connects with Paypal) and I actually find that to be the easiest, personally.

Sometimes parcel is just a little less than priority. I would recommend priority, go to the Paypal site where your payment is and click print label or whatever it says, put in the weight and pick which service you want. Delivery confirmation and $100 of insurance will be included if you are mailing priority and it gets there faster.
