Shipping snacks to yourself?

I've heard a few people say they ship snacks to themselves rather than shop at the resort or use a grocery delivery service.

It's just me and I like to eat breakfast in the room and then have various afternoon or evening snacks available to save money. Usually I pack stuff in my luggage but it takes up a lot of room. So I'm considering doing this but I need more info from some experts.

If you've done this before, I'm curious for a few details like what types of food did you ship? How many days in advance did you send it? Any other tips?

Thanks so much!

We always ups a box down, cereal ,oatmeal, bagels, jam, coffee, sugar, coffee filters and snacks. We buy the milk down stairs

Amazon shipped easily and free (we are prime members) for diaper and pool tube delivery--We'll do this again for the bulky commodities. I think they do some groceries too. There is a reference page somewhere here on the DIS site with shipping addresses for each resort.

The last time we went, I shipped some sunscreen from Amazon to BLT (since I ordered it at the last minute) and figured, great, I can just ship it there and pick it up. I had to pick it up at the Business Center at the Contemporary and they charged me a handling fee - can't remember how much, but just a few dollars. Is that typical? I thought I'd be able to pick it up at BLT and was not expecting any charges.

I have shipped food and clothing. If shipping to a resort that has a business center CR, BWV then you will be charged as they are run by a non Disney enterprise. Disney outsourced it a while ago. If the resort did not have a business center we were not charged.

Any of the Disney resorts that also have a convention center charge for package pick up. The Contemporary is one of those, hence the charge at BLT.

And there's no way to avoid that? Now that BLT has it's own check-in in the building, is it possible we can pick up packages there? I wish I had known ahead of time that there were a few resorts that will charge for package pick-up.

No way to avoid it, BLT, BCV, BWV, and VGF all charge package handling based on package weight and size.

This is really good to know. We had it shipped to SSR because we started our stay there, then went to BWV. Good to know since we'll be at GFV next.

If the fee is just a few dollars (i.e. under $5) I imagine it is still cheaper than paying a shopper or something. Our grocery delivery was $30 for two stores.

I had a case of bottled water shipped from Costco last year when I flew down to FL. I ordered a week ahead and it was there the next day. I called OKW and confirmed they received it and said they will hold for up to 30 days (I was worried it would be there for a week!). I would do this again.

If you are staying at, say, BLT, can you have a package shipped to the poly or GF, and just pick it up via monorail ride?

Thanks for the tips everyone! Keep them coming! I ordered all sizes of the flat rate boxes from USPS. Apparently, if you pay and print online from home, it is cheaper than going to the post office.

I am going to Animal Kingdom Kidani next week. Do they charge? I was also wondering which is the best place to order groceries being delivered?

No rental car for us, but I like the Amazon idea as we are Prime members too. Diapers and sunscreen is big!

My experience has been if there is a Covention/Business center there is a charge. No Convention center no charge. Put the reservation name and arrival date on the package. I've been told the ressie number is not needed.
