Can anyone give me info on shipping packages to the resort ahead of our arrival? I was wondering if there were any restrictions to size of package, weight, quantity of packages and how far in advance can we ship it?

Thanks again, it's getting close sorry for all the questions!!

I haven't done it YET but have been doing some research on it myself as I am planning on sending one later this month. The convention resorts all now charge a small fee to receive a pkg. ('though I don't know how much the fee is). Non-convention resorts such as SSR do not charge a fee. They will hold it at Bell Services for you. No restrictions to size or weight or the number of pkgs at this time (I am also going to order a case of water from Costco & called to ask if it was a problem to have 2 items delivered).

Be sure to use the street address that's on your res. confirmation and put it to the attn. of the name of the person that the reservation is in and include your arrival date & res. confirmation number on the pkg. somewhere. Advice has been given to me to use UPS or Fed Ex rather than USPS as it's a direct delivery to your resort and therefore more reliable. I priced my box (est. 35 Lbs) & compared using Parcel Post thru USPS with UPS. UPS is several dollars cheaper for 2-day guaranteed ground delivery with tracking (no guaranteed time with Parcel Post).

I always ship boxes down for our trip and can offer my suggestions. Number one is that FedEx ground is by far the cheapest and most reliable shipping service we've used. One time I shipped a 50+lb box and a 35lb box and both together were around $52 to ship (4-5 business days).

Secondly, try to get the package(s) to arrive as close to your arrival date as possible. Fedex gives you the exact date and time (generally) you can expect your package to arrive.

When addressing, make sure you have the exact resort address (know this sounds like basic information but there are SO many addresses for resorts and other areas, I always double check).

Under the name of the resort, put your name-I address mine like this

Disney's Old Key West Resort
Attn: Walt Disney-guest
1111 WDW Drive
LBV, FL 22222

Then on top and bottom of box, I hand write in bold, black Sharpie
"Hold for guest arrival on x/xx/xx"

Hope that helps

I would not include this information on the outside of the box-too much personal information. I would just put guests name and date of arrival. Just my .02

That is what the CM at SSR told me when I called to ask about it.:confused3 Apparently, given a choice, that is what they would LIKE to see on the box...

I liked the idea of the UPS 2-day ground with a tracking number (for approx. $25). I figured we're going on a Friday. If I send it on that Monday, in theory, it should arrive on Wed. With the tracking # I would be able to verify that before I finish packing on Thurs. (I am shipping stuff for our OL and am including things like moisturizers & sunscreens 'cuz I hope to just go in carry-ons for the flight down...) But I figured I could always make a last min. change of plans on Friday if I had to and check a bag with these items. I will go ahead & try to price it thru Fed Ex tho...the biggest drawback I see with UPS is that I don't know if they will deliver on the weekend should it NOT arrive on time.

We always ship a box to SSR this past trip we stayed at BCV and we were not charged the fee for being at a convention resort. They told us that since we were not shipping stuff for a convention that there was no fee associated with it. We had water delivered from Staples and it wound up going to the convention center since it was from Staples and the man that delivered it said we would get charged but my husband called the front desk and they said no charge would show up on our bill. I also shipped a box down and there was no charge at all for the box. It was there when I checked in.

FYI~~ I always include my ressie number on the outsdie of the box!!

We just got back from BCV. For the first time in over 8 visits to the BCV and shipping packages each time, we got charged $5 per box. The boxes were about 15 pounds and were the size that copier paper comes in. The front desk told me that it is a new policy thed.at they are now enforcing, in the past they waivered the fee.

Even with a charge it is worth knowing we had some stuff there just in case our suitcases got delayed.
