Can I ship home items from the shops on the ship?

(I want to ship home snowglobes and not have to carry them around for hours where they could get damaged.)

Thanks.

I dont have an answer for you, Pam, but I thought Id give you a bump...and wish you good luck in case I dont see you around here again before your big day. Have a great wedding & honeymoon! :D

We bought the large Mickey & Minnie shipmates figurines, and DCL shipped them to our home--no problem. So, I assume that they will ship any items as long as you are willing to pay for shipping.

PamCo88 - like Rikersmom, we bought the large Shipmates figure and they shipped it home - they did not have the figure on board (other than display) and so it came from their warehouse I believe. With regard to shipping from the shops, we were told on our June 02 cruise and our July 03 cruise that they did not do that. We simply bought the snowglobes and then hand carried it off the ship. We had an extra day at WDW after the cruise and shipped it home from the Boardwalk - their business center there did it for us and it arrived home safe and sound. We have also done that from Coronado Springs as well.

Good luck on your wedding and have a great time on your honeymoon!

Hmmmm.....the shop did have the Shipmates figures when we were on board. However, the box they were packed in was about the size of a small desk. I don't think the airlines would have accepted it, at least without an extra charge. The shipping fee from DCL was a flat $50, but it was well worth it because the box was so big.

Generally, Disney charges shipping fees based on cost of merchandise. I don't think they want to mess around with weights, size of box, etc.--so cost is the easiest way. This is true of shipping fees at Disney Stores, catalog, and the shops at WDW.

Maybe the Magic and Wonder will only ship if the item is extremely bulky? Does anyone know?

Hi....this is another of my pet peeves....DCL does not ship things for you.....except those large shipmate statures/figurines. And, they just started doing that recently. When we were onboard the 5/17 cruise I specifically asked about having those shipped because I really wanted the Captain Mickey one and was told no....then we got home we found out that they just started shipping those statues on the next cruise.

Since day one of DCL I had suggested that have a shipping desk in the terminal when you disembark that you could ship all your purchases home. I really think if you have to fly home it really limits what you may buy in the shops and in different ports...I know if they had a shipping desk set up I would definately purchase more items onboard.

Just as the airlines come to the port, DCL should make arrangements with UPS or FED-EX to set up a desk on days when the ships are in Port Canaveral.

Just my opinion!!

In Nov 03 we purchased a large framed object from the shipboard silent auction. They packed it very well in a large box and it went UPS. They told us about 3 to 4 weeks. We had it in 2 weeks in perfect condition.

Every time we bought an item at the silent auction, we have had it shipped, no problem. So, I am surprised to hear people respond that DCL does not ship. Perhaps they just ship auction items?

Both times, arrived about 2-3 weeks after the cruise in great shape!

We were on the 8/16 Magic and had wanted to have a snowglobe shipped home.

Unfortunately, they can't do that. It apparently has something to do with customs and the item being duty-free when bought on the ship. We later saw the same snowglobe in Downtown Disney for $15 more but at least we could get it shipped from World of Disney.
