DH is traveling alone with our two kids to meet me at DL since I'll already be in Calif. for a business trip.

I've got two carry-ons already packed - one with the kids' clothes (thanks, people who posted the ziploc tips!) and one with toiletries, DS's allergy-safe granola and cereal, formula, bottles, etc.

Anyhoo, I checked the FedEx site and it looks like it would only cost a total of $37 to ship both suitcases to GCH. Seems like a bargain, since it will be less for DH to carry and cheaper than the $50 it will cost to check them w/ the airline.

Anyone done this before? Did it work out well for you? The luggage will be arriving about five days ahead of us, under this plan, but the GCH CM I talked to said we could just put our arrival date on it and they'd hold it for us.

My husband ships luggage and tools to various hotels all the time. It is best to put your name, date of arrival and if you have a confirmation number or something put that as well. He also calls and lets them know, but the times he hasn't been able to (read: forgets) it goes without a hitch. We fly Southwest, but for work he often needs more than the 2 free bags so it's easier and cheaper to ship them.

Remember that you have to arrange to ship them home as well. There is a FedEx drop off point at the Marriott Hotel on Convention Way....that's a bit of a walk from GCH, but not bad, maybe 1/2 mile. Hubby uses this one when he works in Anaheim (he stays at the Mariott or at Staybridge down the road). It's closed on Mondays, but open really early (7am weekdays, 9am weekends) and stays open until 10pm weekdays (5pm weekends). So just plan accordingly.

Fedex told him not long ago that they are seeing a large increase in larger/heavier packages going to hotels since the airlines started charging fees. So they're happy about it, lol.

Thanks ConnieB!

I'll be traveling back with the family, so the luggage will be easier to handle and we'll just check it with the airline, I think.

Hmm... Unless we go overboard with souvenirs, then we may have to ship stuff back after all! :lmao:

It's good to know you guys have had success with this, since I've never done it before. :thumbsup2

We have shipped boxes to GCH before. Be sure to put down your arrival date and name on the reservation. Mention the boxes at check in and bell service will take them to your room. Just to be safe, have delivery confirmation from FedEx in case they can't find the boxes. The date/time of delivery will help them locate a delivery.

Have a great time!

We shipped boxes to PPH in December. I wanted to surprise the kids with a small Christmas tree with lots of Disney ornaments we'd been buying for months. We also sent out coffee pot, the stocking for all 6 of us, along with all the stuffers and whatever else fit in the two boxes that I had ready to go a week early. The boxes were in our closet when we got in the room. It was so cool!!!!
