I was looking at some stuff on disneyshopping.go.com, and I added an $8 pin to my basket, and clicked on the checkout, the s&h for the pin was $35 US, for an ordinary pin, maybe about 1" x 2" (or so), fairly flat, very light weight (under an ounce). So how can shipping be this high? And this was just regular mail, no express delivery. And it's not like I'm shipping to the Baffin Islands or something, I'm not much more than an hour from the US border!

disneyshopping.com treats shipping to Canada the same as shipping to any other international destination, unfortunately. If you can, get a US post box close to your border crossing - that will save you LOTS of money for shipping and disneyshopping.com often has free shipping or $5 shipping.

HTH! :goodvibes

disneyshopping.com used to only ship UPS Express to Canada, no matter what method you picked. The good part is with a large order last year (we're talking in excess of $300US in goods, I only paid $18US in taxes). UPS explained had they shipped Ground, I would have paid substancially more. Apparently with the Express service, the customs processing fees are included.

So, while the rates are insane for a little tiny purchase - which would only cost a couple dollars with USPS First Class Mail, their shipping costs are actually reasonable if you're doing a large/heavy order.

I get my stuff shipped to a little town just over the Border. They charge $5 per package. Duty can be a killer tho b/c almost everything is made in China. I try to time it with a weekend trip to avoid duty.
