Ever shipped a box to your resort, or now thinking about it with the luggage restrictions? What where your experience, and the how to do it, please.

Thanks, mky:cutie:

For the first time ever, we will be traveling with an infant who will need diapers and formula. Rather than make room for those items and add weight to our luggage, we might ship them to the resort. We're lucky in that we booked our JetBlue flights 2 weeks prior to their new luggage fee rule so it won't apply to us, but still, we like to travel light so we're definitely considering shipping some items ahead of our arrival.

Don't forget you will be charged by the box weight if you ship to a Convention Resort.

We always spend our first night at Riverside (to see Bob). We can ship boxes there with no trouble.

I print a very big label and under the shipping address I include our date of arrival and confirmation number.

It will be entered into your reservation.

Very easy!

I LOVE doing this an Halloween or Christmas time.......I send down decorations!!!

I shipped a box with UPS and it was waiting for me at POP when I checked in.

I put

Resort name
my name/reservation number
arrival date
Resort address

I shipped about 5 days out.

We do this! It's a great idea.

We ship:

diapers, wipes, sippy cups, dish soap (to wash out the bottles/cups in the room), a bottle brush, sun screen, bug spray, some toiletries (anything liquid over 3oz b/c we don;t like to check luggage and we can't carry it on the plane), granola bars, oatmeal, disposable bowls/utensils, cereal, etc.

DH works at a shipping place and his boss lets him charge the boxes to the corporate acct..so we do it for free!! It's such a space/time saver!

We shipped about 4 days out last time and it was waiting for us when we got there!

Charged by who? The resort, or do you mean the ups place? I thought they always weighed it anyway? We are checking into Contempary so it is a convention resort.

Who has the boxes when you pick them up? front desk, or valet / luggage area?

Thanks so much for all responses! mky:cutie:

We have done this. :) We shipped it USPS 10 days prior to our arrival and it arrived on the same day we did.

When you ship your package, be sure to place your reservation number and name the reservation is under boldly at the bottom of the shipping address.

So it should look like this:

Wilderness Lodge Resort
123 Disney Street
Orlando, FL 32165

c/o Jane Doe
Reservation # 1234567890

We shipped three large containers with all of our camping gear down to Ft. Wilderness in Dec., and they were waiting for us at check-in. I would imagine that it would be the same in most other resorts.

I'm thinking about shipping my luggage down for my next trip, whenever that will be! It was very easy, and we shipped all that stuff home again, too, along with some dirty laundry.

Does it have to have your reservation # on it? I'm a little leery about putting that on anything that contains my name and mailing address.

we've shipped boxes to CR, ASMO and Pop, never a problem

small box, fedex, packed with toiletries

outside of box, in addition to info, photo of a pig

(so it "stands out" when they need to find it!)

again - do this every trip, never a problem

I too am interested in the specifics of mailing to a convention resort. I am contemplating a last minute send to the All Star Sports this week, which is the overflow hotel for the Coronado for my conference. I would like to better understand the thing you said about being charged by the weight....is this something the resort does or the shipping service does?

We just did our first DVC stay at the Boardwalk Villas. I wish I would have shipped a few items down, now I know better.

Questions: Shipping items back home? Do you repack and call UPS to pick up at the resort? Does the resort have a person in charge of shipping and they can help you make arrangements to get the box reshipped back home?

Items I would bring myself for those who are interested:
-laundry detergent (loved the washer dryer but I forgot we had to do our own towels in between the once a week maid service)
-small electric skillet
-a few extra kitchen towels and wash cloths
-salt, pepper etc.
-small hand mixer to whip up my pancakes (gluten allergy)
-my gluten free mixes and gluten free bread

I do not believe it would be mandatory, but it sure will be a lot easier for Disney CMs to figure out who the box should go to. My understanding is that the mail goes to a more general place and then is delivered out to the resort from there.

I understand your being hesitant, I was originally too, but then I figured as close as I am to arriving, it would be too late to make any changes to my reservation anyhow. I would hope that the post office would not do anything crazy.

I was asked by both the resort and post office for future shipments to separate the name and reservation number from the address. I was told it slows down the shipping. :confused3

I think its a great idea. We had used fedex's luggage delivery service before and it worked awesome. But boxes might be cheaper. I think we'll give it a try this trip to alleviate some of the lugging around of luggage.

I was hoping to do some online shopping before I leave home and have the package shippied to me at POP. The company I want to order from only ships via US post.

It is my understanding that you can't use the resort address for US post. Their mail goes someplace else. How can I get my package delivered to the resort?

Forgive the self-serving post but don't forget that you can leave your stuff with us between trips. We pick it up when you leave, keep it in our climate-controlled warehouse and have it waiting for you at your resort when you come back for your next trip.
