Shipping ahead of time. Worth it???

This is our first time to WDW with our daughter. We will have a stroller, car seat, luggage etc. We are considering shipping her supplies ahead of time to our resort to have less to worry about carrying/lugging thru the airport. We are thinking of shipping diapers, wipes, snacks, etc. b/c we don't want to have to stop and go shopping once we land in Orlando. Has anyone done this? If so, is it expensive and is it worth it?

it worked out really well for us--I sent the package via UPS (to the Contemporary) and when I checked in there was a note that we had something at the business center to pick up. I called over there, explained I had a napping baby, and they brought the package to me regrettfully I didn't have any cash on me to tip the guy

we shipped diapers, wipes, and snacks to ourselves. it was less than $10 and well worth the time.

if you are renting a car, though, it isn't a big deal to stop at the Albertson's along the way and pick up supplies there. We made a stop there for drinks and bread--I browsed the baby aisle and found the prices exactly the same as they are in Ky. except for the baby formula--it was $3 per can more.

Hi, madge,

How far in advance did you send yourself the package?

I'm thinking of doing this to send my girls treats "from Mickey" to have when we arrive so I would want the package to get there before we did.

Oh, and how did you address it?

I think I mailed it on Tuesday and it got there on Friday. this was via UPS, which was cheaper and faster than the post office.

I addressed it to Madge Hearne, guest (arrival date May 25)

We shipped all of our baby's supplies (diapers, wipes, we even added in all of our film) to the AKL ahead of time. It really worked out great, and we will surley do it again. the package was given to us right at check in.
It only cost $15.00 (our package was 32lbs.) and UPS garuntees 3-day delivery when you are shipping a package to a business address such as the Disney Resorts.

We shipped all of our presents and Christmas items last year ahead of time. The boxes were in the room when we arrived. We also shipped boxes back home. It was great not to have to worry with it, as soon as we got in the room we decorated! We were told to put our ressie # on the label. This was at the BWI.

when we went 12/99, I shipped an order from netgrocers.com directly to the resort we were staying at using similar address format that was mentioned above.

You can get deals online (www.edealfinder.com) etc and/or free shipping. I was told then that they'd hold a package up to 5 days, just call the resort directly and ask the current policy.

If you're in the market for diapers, wipes, etc, try sites like drugstore.com.

For those who have shipped packages of supplies to the resort prior to your visit, have you also shipped your luggage? I have heard of people doing this b/c flights are often being changed to ensure the luggage doesn't get lost by the airline, but I would never have thought of this. Wouldn't this be expensive? Is it worth it to not have to worry about your luggage being lost?

There have been posts of people shipping luggage ahead. I thought about shipping shorts ahead with our packages since we wouldn't need them here in Chicago during the winter LOL!

What a great idea to ship summer clothes ahead...

will include this in our shipment which will also include a toaster, hot pot, plastic silverware, styrofoam plates and bowls along with snacks, individual cereals, disposable cameras and a hairdryer!!
