shipping a large ebay package

I just got an offer for a large 10 gallon pickle crock--there really heavy and big

I had it in the listing for local pick up

but I got a great bid on it that I wanted to accept but the buyer asked if I could ship it

the buyer is in Kentucky and Im in Wisconsin

I really dont have a clue on how to box it up to start with

so I really need advice or tips on shipping

it weighs about 25 pounds but then its also the box and packing material adds to it

does anyone know what would be the cheapest way to ship maybe I should forget the whole thing and just wait for another bid for pick up

any ideas or advice would be greatly helpful

How good is the offer? In my experience, FedEx ground has been the least expensive for large, heavy items. But you’re still looking at $40+ in packing material and shipping costs.

We sent a not even 25 lb box and not that big box last Christmas from Denver to Houston and it cost $33 UPS ground so I hope your offer was really good!

I just priced from a zip in WI to a zip in KY, assumed 35lb and 14x14x14 box and got a ship price of $37.45. Did they offer you enough money to cover the shipping cost? If so I would honor it and ship.

As long as they are willing to pick up the price of shipping then yes... I would go for it...

If you have to pay for shipping, box and packing materials and you subtract that out of the good bid they offered...is it still a good bid?

I sold on eBay for years, make sure its paid for including shipping before you ship, insurance and tracking with signature is important when you have instants like this.
