For a split second I was elated. I nearly screamed out loud and almost jumped right out of my chair. And then I realized what had happened. They had teased us. They show you the board in descending order of time and sure enough Seat 2 was the fastest time, but it took me second to notice there was a blank space above my seat number. And within milliseconds of embarrassing myself the flashed Seat 276 and the hot seat slipped through my fingers. She had beat me by .02 seconds. Alright fine. She beat me, I could live with that. That is until she got in the seat and the host started asking her questions.
Host: So whats your name?
Seat 276: Rachel. Name changed to protect the player. (I didnt get her to sign a waiver to be in the trip report)
Host: And where are you from?
Seat 276: Ontario, Canada.
Yep, remember the fastest finger question? Put these US states in order
ME: But shes from freakin Canada. (Note - No Canadians were actually freaked during the trip or in the recounting in this trip report)
I think I may have said it a little too loud. Others were staring. But hey I was the one who lost out to the Canadian. I had a right. So I am thinking alright maybe schools in Canada have curriculum based on geography and they actually teach the kids all the US states. Heck I cant even name the Canadian provinces let alone but them in order from west to east. In fact I am not even sure how many Canadian provinces there are. I think its 7, but Im not certain. So OK I was beginning to realize I had been beaten by a smarter player. And then it happened
Host: So how did you know the answer so quickly being from Canada?
Seat 276: I didnt. I just randomly pushed the buttons as fast as I could.
Alright. Foul! Throw the flag! Blow the whistle! Do something she just admitted she didnt know the answer. You cant let her play. Come to find out you dont actually have to know the answer to play. Fine some lawyers Disney has got.
Well she missed the 1000 point question and I cheered. OK I didnt really cheer but I knew I could have gotten farther than she did. I really enjoyed this attraction and as we emerged I was so, so tempted to get right back in line and play the rest of the day. I can she how Zurgs crew spent the entire last day of their trip at Millionaire. Its addictive. I knew that if I got back in line my obsession the rest of the trip would be to get into the hot seat. Forget the handy dandy Worksheet and carefully laid out plans. The rest of the group could follow it. You can just pick me up at Millionaire at the end of the day. I saw the downward spiral that would have been our trip and I refrained from getting back in line. But believe me, the next trip to Disney California Adventure is going to consist of 2 things. Fastpasses to the newly opening Tower of Terror in between Millionaire shows. I am going to get there and I will report back to you when I do.
So next we walked in to see the props and scenes from Haunted Mansion that were on display in one of the buildings. Next we toured One Mans Dream. I really liked this walkthrough exhibit. All the old pictures and models are very interesting. A true Walt Disney fan should take the time to slowly walk through here. Set aside an hour to read everything and look at the pictures. Great, great exhibit.
On to more Tower of Terror. Just cant get enough of this ride. Truly one of Disneys best. Since the animation studios were no longer filled with real people doing great work we skipped the animation tour. I am hoping that on our next visit the brain trust at Disney realizes what a mistake they made and get animators back on the job.
So we had pretty much hit everything we had wanted to do at MGM and headed to the boat launch at the entrance to make our way over to the Beach Club/Yacht Club Area.
Side note I really love the options for transportation at the World. But far and away my favorite is by boat. I grew up around boats and just love to be out on the water. It is so peaceful to me. If only they could figure out a way to take a boat to Animal Kingdom.
We exited at the lighthouse and walked around the Beach/Yacht Clubs. On my last visit we never made it over here so I was anxious to see it. It really makes me feel like being in New England. I like Stormalong Bay but it almost looks too big.
We headed to eat lunch at Beaches and Cream. After reading all the reviews and how popular this place is I had a vision of it in my head. And when we got there is was about 1/5th the size I had in my mind. I couldnt believe how tiny it is. Luckily we were there at an off time and had no trouble getting a table.
After lunch we decided to head back to the hotel to rest up before heading to the MK for Spectro and Wishes. But we had a dilemma What was the best and fastest way back to the Poly from the BC/YC? Ask 3 different people and get 3 different answers. One bad thing about the transportation is that sometime there are so many options its hard to tell whats best.
Option 1 Take the boat back to MGM and hop on a bus to the Poly
Option 2 Take the boat to Epcot, walk through Epcot to the Monorail and take that to the TTC and walk to the Poly
Option 3 Take the bus from BC/YC to MK and monorail/boat back to Poly
Option 4 Take a bus to DTD and then switch buses to the Poly
See I told you there were too many options.
Which would you choose?
