Hope all in Sandy's way stay safe tonight .. Night all ....

Worst of the storm is past here I think, still raining but the winds are dying down still a big gust every so often, I took Bella out about 11:30pm and she wanted to stay out in the rain crazy dog lol

Hope everyone is ok!

It's morning!! And we still have power!!!!
Thank goodness for underground utilities!
The girls have no school again today, because unfortunately, most of the city/state is still without power.
The neighbors on our street who did not lose the pear trees out front in the Halloween blizzard last year have unfortunately lost them this year...:(

But, we are all lucky compared to a lot of folks....thinking of all of you in the NY/NJ/PA area...WOW, you guys got slammed...I hope you're hanging in there...let us know you're all ok. :worried:

Morning. Made Mickey pancakes. House is intact.generator is on..have to charge my phone.wanted to say hello :grouphug:

That's great to hear! We got the edge of the storm and I was afraid we would lose power through the night but didn't, let's hope it stays that way!! It's rainy here with sustained winds 20-25 mph, gusts up to 35, so much lower than originally anticipated.

Hi! The pancakes sound YUMMY!!!!! Glad you're ok!

Sent from my GalaxyS II

Still no power I had hope of it coming back on when I saw workers one street over but no such luck. I think the house is colder than outside. Have to conserve my battery power so off I go Hi Ho Hi Ho lol

Hi all..checking in. We did not lose power or satellite...our town is 47% w/o power and the other the towns around us range from 47-100%. I will go out in a little bit to see if my Dunkin is open...husband went to work because he figured he would get a lot done as the people he works with have no power and won't be in!

Good morning everyone! I figured I would try to catch up with everyone while the house is quiet. DH has been great about everything, grocery shopping, taking the kids to school and picking them up, etc. Because the stock market is closed the brokers can’t really bother him as much and he is getting so much more done at work, so yesterday when he left to get the kids he didn’t go back. He is saying he will go back this afternoon to take advantage of the quiet day, but we will see ;) I was hoping to be in better shape by today and able to drive, but I am still in too much pain :worried: Although I am trying to see how far I can get in the day without Vicodin, although Motrin just isn’t cutting it right now.

Marie – glad your inlaws were not affected by the earthquake, I had heard that on the news, scary. I hope your BFF faired okay in the storm. Good luck with the 6 day work week, hopefully all this full time work will slow down in November right

KOOK – Oh how I miss Krispy Kreme! We had one that opened down here and those fresh hot donuts were insane ::yes:: Unfortunately they didn’t last and closed after a couple of years. Glad you got your necessities before the storm ;) I hope you didn’t have too much damage and are safe!

Candace – YAY on keeping power! I have a few friends in Manchester who have posted on FB that they don’t have power. It seems like it is about 50/50 of my friends and family in New England that have power. Glad you are safe!

Jeanette – glad you finally made it out of work and were able to hunker down with the fam. Glad the house is intact and the generator is running. Sounds like you had a scary night! Wine is always on my hurricane preparedness list  Mickey pancakes sound perfect this morning! Sounds like you could use a little Disney magic today :wizard:

Sarah – I hope you have enough propane to get you through the power restoration process! I hope you can get to the doctor’s tomorrow and get back on track. As always my thoughts are with you :grouphug:

Jen - How awful about the woman dying!!! These storms are sooo scary and so many people just don’t realize how strong a Cat 1 is. I hope you fared well last night and you're weather didn't get too bad.

MUFFYCAT – I hope you made it through the night safely. My BIL and SIL are on LI and seem to be okay this morning. My hubby is also from Queens and most of his family is still there or on LI.

Janet – glad DD kept you entertained last night :) I hope last night wasn’t too bad and today doesn’t reveal too much damage.

Dani – glad you were able to be home with Danimal yesterday. Sorry you lost power, hopefully it will come back soon.

i_heart – I hope you are safe and kept your power last night.

DznyCrzy11 – hope the winds don’t pick up too much today and you keep your power!

Shelia – UGH, sorry you are still without power. Time to bundle up and stay warm!!! LOL about Bella, crazy dog is right :upsidedow

DetTigsGal - glad you have power! Please be safe trying to go out today! Even though things may look okay those downed powerlines can be a huge hazard. I always get so scared when I see kids playing outside in the puddles down here after a hurricane.

Good morning Linda, Ginny, Miss ad everyone else I am missing!

Hope every stays dry, warm, and safe today :goodvibes Thinking of you all :grouphug:

Melissa

Well we never did lose power but it did flicker on and off several times through the night. It looks like the other side of the street is out as are many (most?) in my city. I guess we got lucky. :goodvibes

No school for the kids + mom who was up all night = major coffee consumption this morning.

To those who have checked in, I'm glad you are safe! I probably can't post much today, but I will be in major stalk mode for more updates from everyone else. :magnify:

Just checking in too....we had a really windy night, and still windy today with rain again, but overall fared pretty well. But between the wind shaking the windows, and DH's work phone going off all night (he was on call, lots of downed trees), I didn't sleep much either.

Glad everyone is safe today....waiting to hear from everyone else too...:surfweb:

Thinking of you all. :grouphug: Hope those without power get it restored quickly. The numbers of people without are simply staggering.

Has anyone heard from our Sarah and Dani recently? Hope all is well with them.

Hi all ! Quick pop in ... We r still without power and have to deal with the sump pump - also missing shingles but it could be worse. Happy for everyone who have power:)

Melissa .., hope your pain lessens every day

Pas Mickey waffles - yum! Sarah hoping and praying they can clear your roads soon

Sheila .. Crazy Bella! Lol ... Keep her close for warmth :)

Everyone continue to stay safe! Hugs!

 s to all my friends!! I am happy to hear that for the most part you are weathering the storms...hope the power situation sorts itself out ASAP so you can all get toasty warm again!! :) Candace, I never thought about underground utilities being a plus...but you are right, another reason to be thankful that's how ours are installed in our area! Also, last night, when I was talking to DH about this storm and what we'd do in the event of such a major storm (we don't have a generator) --- he pointed out something I didn't know about our fireplace -- apparently it has a battery pack backup so if there was a power outage, we could still light it and have a small heat source from the gas fireplace.... good to know!! it would be horrible to be without heat, I hope you all are finding ways to keep warm. I hope your power is up again fast!

Looks like I'm going to be full time until probably at least the 3rd week of Nov, hopefully by then, the job will be filled and my new partner will begin training. It's only been posted since last WED, and as of yesterday (2 days posted) they have 56 applicants!!! it closes NOV 2 and interviews are NOV 13/14. I hope they find someone committed this time :)
I was so tired that last night, I just crashed at 7:15 and didn't wake except for an occassional bathroom break until 6:30 am this morning for work!!
LOl...it was nice to get caught up on some sleep :)

Thinking of you all and praying for this to be over soon and things normally functioning as fast as it can be. Stay Safe!

Hi All

Just got a text from Janet ..... they are still without power but doing okay. She has heard from Sarah this morning ... her town is considered a disaster area. She also still doesn't have power. Trees are down on their property and driveway. They are managing. Janet hasn't heard from Dani today.

Hugs and positive thoughts to all! Please stay safe!!!

Thanks for the update, Linda. Gah. After looking through pictures of some of the devastation in NJ / NY, I can only imagine. :worried: I'm relieved that Sarah is okay despite. Hope we hear from Dani soon.

How's it looking in Chicago? I'd heard there might be some flooding close to the lake? What about the river?

I was just looking actually since they'd issued a warning on Lake Michigan -- it's getting near-record high waves (~20 ft.) Not read anything regarding the river though. Only getting 25 mph winds with 40-ish gusts here in suburbia.

Wow ... those are some big waves for the lake!!! I wonder if any of the downtown area will flood .... when we were there a couple of weeks ago we stayed at the Hyatt on Wacker (sp) which was close to the lake. All of my family except for one niece and her husband live in suburbia. Hope it doesn't get any worse for you. Let us know ....

I'm originally from Western Michigan... my mom called this am to ck on us and said that they were having strong winds and the waves on the Lake were massive, she was going to drive down to have a look.
