Sod it. We're going in January (still). Going to call tomorrow and change the AoA ressie to something a bit more preferable to us resort-downtime wise... fingers crossed what we want is still available. :upsidedow

Thanks for all of the advice offered earlier! :grouphug: Stay tuned for the reveal... :rotfl:

:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Can't wait to hear what you book!

I think I have talked myself out of booking in the spring. I feel like we are just too busy and I will be sorry if I try and squeeze in another expensive vacation. I need to figure out how to get two trips in next fall - one couples trip and one with the kids!

sjs  Sending you lots of good thoughts and wishes. I hope you are able to work the trip out and see the amazing holiday decorations. :santa: Whatever decision you make will be the right one.

Jenny, again, I loved the video :goodvibes

babyberger, thinking good thoughts for you for your upcoming surgery. Recovery time means more time to spend on the DIS and tweeking upcoming trips ;)

chimo2u, sorry you are suffering from the blues. With your kids growing up life changes a bit, sometimes you just have to be blue before you embrace the changes. It gets better.

missoutandabout, well????!!!!! Anxiously awaiting the update. Just a reminder, I will be at WL CL 12/13 through 1/13 :goodvibes How fun would it be to meet up again?!!!! (Even if you don't bring my friend Miss M :sad1:)

Been emailing with WL IPO this morning! :goodvibes

I'm a waffler. After all that talk about AKL or WL, too! :confused3

Hubs and I decided, after all the wishy-washy shenanigans from my family, we'll keep the trip in January -- well, since we already have the flights booked, right? :thumbsup2 (Scratching the idea of the spring trip since we're loathe to take Miss M out of school again. Even though I don't think she misses anything work-wise, it's more missing the social aspect of being around kids her age -- if that makes a lick of sense. )

Anyway, I was looking at ALL the choices... as we all tend to do. :rotfl: We discussed not going to any parks -- but then decided Miss M would probably want to at least go to HS. Big crowds kinda scare me so I'm a bit hesitant to even suggest MK at all since the dates are 2nd Jan - 6th Jan. Then we yapped on about all the downtime we would have if we only did one park (or even two) and wanted to be in a place where we could "do stuff" that wasn't park-related. Got to talking about POR, with the boat to DTD and how it would be convenient. Inevitably, we wound up ... right ... back ... where ... we ... always do. But different, only just ... a teensy-weensy little bit different:

2nd - 6th of January at ... the Yacht Club! :rotfl:

I told the kiddo we wouldn't be staying at Art of Animation. Then she asked, "Where are we staying then? Riverside?" ... "No." Her eyes got bright, "The Beach Club?!" ... "No. But almost kinda sorta." With the distinct tone of disappointment in her voice she said, "Oh. The Yacht Club?" :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl: Then I reminded her it was attached to SAB (though not telling her it might be a tad too chilly even for Chicagoland-living folks) and how we can go to HS and she perked right up. Little punk. :lmao:

Hiya Sarah! Ooooh, just what have you been planning with IPO? popcorn::

No worries, Miss M is a permanent fixture in our adventures! :goodvibes  It would be lovely to see each other again if we can arrange something.

Okay, couple-few questions for you experts...

:goodvibes

Have any of you done the Fantasmic! Dining Package? Any thoughts? How'd it go? I signed us up for it on a Friday night, since the idea of not waiting in a huge long line forever to see it sounds like the way to go. We went with Mama Melrose -- not sure why though.

We're going to try to make it to the following new-to-us places on this trip, so any opinions are greatly appreciated, like what are your favourite dishes, etc... :goodvibes

  • Raglan Road
  • Captain's Grille
  • Le Cellier (Lunch, only if we decide to go to another park and I can convince the hubs we don't want to go to MK.)

I was contemplating changing Le Cellier to the Yachtsman but they don't do lunch so there we have it. :upsidedow Anway, I've just got to see what all the fuss is about -- even though I don't go for steak. How's that for backward logic? :joker: Thought they had a burger on the menu but seems to have vanished? Darn.

Hi Miss!! have you checked your PM's???:rolleyes1

We did not really love the Mama Melroses Fantasmic pkg food, the kids didn;t really like their meals, and I really only liked the calamari for two. Also we found it to be packed and crowded in there and you actually felt cramped. :crowded: When I moved my seat back just a touch I was bashing into a baby sleeping in a full stroller at the table behind us. And then we didn't even end up going to see the show!!! :headache:

Highly recommend Le Cellier though....super yummy!! Small place also, but did not feel like it to us...more cozy.

Hope that helps!!:goodvibes

We love Le Cellier!!!! We eat there every trip. We are going to make ADR's for our upcoming trip too...and paying OOP for dinner, we like it that much!

We have never done the meal packages for Fantasmic. We have never found it difficult to get a good seat in the place and we always go during peak times. Even if we have to wait in line for a half hour, it's a good time to rest. We don't really like any of the TS places at DHS (with the exception of Sci-Fi), so we would not do the package.

Miss- Haven't done the dinner package with fantastic...in the early days we would get there early eat from the concession stand and get a great seat, now we just wander in at the end of the line and say we've seen it so many times it's fine on the side..let's just get in :)

Oh forgot.. we love Le Cell, it's out first ADR this trip- lunch though as its out of pocket. We couldn't get reservations the last 2 T'giving trips, so did it with the CP package, got a little pixie dust this time.

Uh-oh. Maybe I should change the package ADR to something else then... :scratchin Italian isn't really our first choice (ever) so not sure why I'm doing it other than the thought of long, nightmarish lines scare me.

What was your favourite thing off the Le Cellier menu?

What do you get when you go to Le Cellier? I'm gonna cancel the package methinks... :upsidedow

Definitely going to cancel the package. :rotfl: What do you tend to get snack-wise whilst you're waiting? Now, if I could settle in with a Hurricane and a Jalapeno Cheese pretzel, I think I'd be A-Okay... :thumbsup2

This is becoming a broken-record question... what's your favorite Le Cellier dish? :goodvibes

No reply came through yet...:confused3

DH and I both had the Mushroom filet with mashed potatoes which were sooo good, and the steak just melted in your mouth...sooo good!! ::yes:: We also had some cheese soup to start off and it was delicious to dip into with the pretzel bread! I actually left with our left over pretzel bread in my purse!!! Don't know how that happened!! ;)

Came in handy later to toss into the girls mouths when we wanted to distract from a sitaution! And then heard "hey how come Mommy has bread in her bag??? Ooooh I want some!!":rotfl:

I just wanted to share a picture of this beauty that we are having built in the backyard today....

DH is in heaven to finally have a "man cave" to retreat to!!:rotfl:

Why does Disney have to be so stinking awesome?!?!? :bitelip:
Seriously too many great choices....but...WL makes my girls the happiest so I'm going with it. Maybe after their 2nd 10 night WL stay w/in a 9 month period, they will come out of it wanting to try something new....but for now...home. :hyper:

I know the choices are so hard...I keep thinking maybe I will move back to YC for next weekend becuase I love it sooo much, but then I remind myself of the crowds from F&W and how hectic that area is going to be. Plus I now how have CV BB at WL, not like I can really go wrong with that right :confused3

I think I have talked myself out of booking in the spring. I feel like we are just too busy and I will be sorry if I try and squeeze in another expensive vacation. I need to figure out how to get two trips in next fall - one couples trip and one with the kids!

Do an early trip with the kids and then go back for F&W adults only and try to go as late as you can so you can enjoy the "cooler" weather. Or you could always just ship the kids home half way through your trip :p

babyberger, thinking good thoughts for you for your upcoming surgery. Recovery time means more time to spend on the DIS and tweeking upcoming trips ;)

Thank you :flower3: My trips after surgery at both at CR BLV, I dont know how much better I can make them but being laid up in a bed will probably end up in some changes somehow ;)

2nd - 6th of January at ... the Yacht Club! :rotfl:

You saw my reply over on the BC/YC boards...You DEFINITELY need to request wedding gazebo view, it is exactly what you want!!!!

Well I was tempted to call today just to tweak my room request for WL becuase it was still showing from when I had a woods view, but I looked again and I requested North wing, 4th or 5th floor, so I actually think that will be perfect for our courtyard view as well, so staying off the phone with WDW for at least a bit ;) In such a funk and so tired lately, I think still recovering from initial problem and then not looking forward to the surgery itself, keep telling myself the Disney magic will help immensly next weekend pixiedust: Plus DH and I are going to a wine tasting this Saturday night and as he says it will be good for my emotional state ::yes::

Hope everyone is having a great day :goodvibes

Melissa

Jen: Love the mancave! LOL. Will it be complete with flatscreen and sports on satellite? :lmao:

Your DH is spot on. A wine tasting and some relaxation is just the ticket (along with the required dose of Disney, obviously). How long will you be sequestered in bed afterward? We're all sending you pixiedust: by the truckload.

I asked for "quiet, away from lobby" on the ressie when I called earlier but I'll be on the phone with them shortly to change that to "Wedding Gazebo View, if available. Pretty please." How'd you find the sound levels at YC? Was it pretty quiet inside your room? What is it that you love about YC? (Miss M might not be sold on YC but I figured we'd go for something slightly different but with all the amenities we love. ::yes:: )

At le cellier I get the filet and swap out the risotto for mashed potatoes. Even though I love the cheddar soup, it is very filling and so usually I opt for dessert. My 15-yr old is not much of a meat eater and gets the cheeseburger when at a non-Italian or buffet place. My dh and older ds will try anything. LoL.

At Fantasmic, you can get beer and wine...I usually go with a pop and dog, pretzel or popcorn depending on when we last ate. (that menu is up on all ears). Sometimes we have an ADR at prime-time around 3:30 and then go over. Lately, we have been at wdw when there have been two showings.

babyberger - I hope everything goes well for you! :) Obsessing over ressies sounds like the perfect way to spend some relaxing time post-op! :thumbsup2

jennyjinx - love the man cave! :cool1:

Missoutandabout - We will be at the BC 1/2-1/7. We should try to meet up. :goodvibes I prefer the YC. It is much quieter than the BC and has guaranteed balconies! Wait, why did I pick BC this time :confused3

Probably bed ridden for about 4 days (but at least at home in my bed) with the entire first week being pretty rough. Hopefully after day four I should be able to at least drive the kids back and forth to school, but probably wont do much else for a week or so. Nurse said dont plan on anything major for at least 2-3 weeks and to expect full (or close to full) recovery in about 4-6 weeks. Which includes no lifting anything over 10 lbs during recovery :crazy2: I see lots of pain killers and WINE in my future :p

We did happen to have a very LOUD family next to us at YC, the same family that was smoking on the balcony :furious: We did have a connecting room, so I wonder how much that played into us hearing them. It only bothered me when my kids were sleeping and their son was still up and yelling at his parents :scared: We really loved the quiet slow feel of the resort, it wasnt as busy at BC, just more mellow I guess. I think the rooms are identical, except for the colors, so you know what to expect that way. Oh and at YC you are sure to have a full balcony :thumbsup2 We loved watching Illuminations from ours!

Yeah and probably spend more money ;)

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards

Melissa- I was just looking through some old notes, obviously keep using the same notebook for my wdw notes (lol), and we were told to get to the dessert party at 8:40. Wishes would have been at 10pm.

DH and I usually both get the grilled bone-in rib eye...I'm drooling thinking about it. So tender and delicious, and the sides are perfect!!! I also get a cup of the cheddar cheese soup as an appy because it goes wonderfully with the pretzel bread that I love to dunk in it!!! :hyper:
