I really liked CL, we all did. But we also didn't use it nearly enough. We were barely up in time for breakfast (we sleep late on vacation) and then since we get out later, we couldn't really make it back in time for the evening stuff.

I don't know, ponder, ponder, ponder....:coffee:

I found that last trip CL just wasn't cutting it for us for the the timing issue as well as other reasons. Plus CR and BC have our least favorite CLs so I don't think I'm going to get the itch to upgrade. I'm excited to try a trip without it just to see if we really do miss it.
I thought we'd all really miss CL when we stayed at BLT in August, but we really didn't. I missed the wonderful CMs and I much prefer CL check-in, but other than that, it wasn't a hard transition. We did do a split with CL after BLT, but even so, we really appreciated the huge villa and all its amenities more than having a lounge.

babyberger, thinking good thoughts for you for your upcoming surgery. Recovery time means more time to spend on the DIS and tweeking upcoming trips ;)

chimo2u, sorry you are suffering from the blues. With your kids growing up life changes a bit, sometimes you just have to be blue before you embrace the changes. It gets better.

Been emailing with WL IPO this morning! :goodvibes

Can't wait to hear what you've been up to with the IPO:hyper:

I second the sentiment and advice:thumbsup2

chimo2u: These trips to WDW can be filled with intense emotion. They are wonderful to plan and partake in, but also come with stress and usually high expectations. Sometimes a break is a good thing (but, that's not directed toward you, JC). I'll be honest with you, I told Jeanette right after we got home from WDW that I actually could use a little WDW break. We spent around 34 nights in a year there and I actually haven't booked our next trip yet - and that's OK. You'll be OK, too:grouphug:

I just wanted to share a picture of this beauty that we are having built in the backyard today....

DH is in heaven to finally have a "man cave" to retreat to!!:rotfl:
What color did he choose for the curtains?

I asked for "quiet, away from lobby" on the ressie when I called earlier but I'll be on the phone with them shortly to change that to "Wedding Gazebo View, if available. Pretty please." How'd you find the sound levels at YC? Was it pretty quiet inside your room? What is it that you love about YC? (Miss M might not be sold on YC but I figured we'd go for something slightly different but with all the amenities we love. ::yes:: )
When I stayed at YC/CL-GV, I requested 'Gazebo View', but didn't get it. They upgraded us to a view overlooking SAB which was very noisy and I disliked it. I also requested (as I always request), 'no connecting door.' I highly recommend this if you like it nice and quiet like us. ALL sound travels through those doors and I learned long ago never to accept a room with one again.

Probably bed ridden for about 4 days (but at least at home in my bed) with the entire first week being pretty rough. Hopefully after day four I should be able to at least drive the kids back and forth to school, but probably wont do much else for a week or so. Nurse said dont plan on anything major for at least 2-3 weeks and to expect full (or close to full) recovery in about 4-6 weeks. Which includes no lifting anything over 10 lbs during recovery :crazy2: I see lots of pain killers and WINE in my future :p

We did happen to have a very LOUD family next to us at YC, the same family that was smoking on the balcony :furious: We did have a connecting room, so I wonder how much that played into us hearing them. It only bothered me when my kids were sleeping and their son was still up and yelling at his parents :scared: We really loved the quiet slow feel of the resort, it wasnt as busy at BC, just more mellow I guess. I think the rooms are identical, except for the colors, so you know what to expect that way. Oh and at YC you are sure to have a full balcony :thumbsup2 We loved watching Illuminations from ours!
The RC thread should prove very DIStracting for you, oh, and the wine (just don't mix it with the painkillers:upsidedow)

I will never stay at BC, but I really like YC's atmosphere. I think it attracts fewer families with young children than BC and also more conventioneers and retired guests. But, their CL lounge is very small, like BC:sad2:

Akl cl is cheaper than a savannah view, and you still get a savannah view. I would try something new. I don't think your done. Why not a split stay. WL/BW or WL/AKl. I wouldn't give up on the CL. The more you go the more time you will spend at the resort.

:thumbsup2 I agree, Candace! AKL CL is just amazingly wonderful!! I love, love, love it there, and I think I'll be headed back the next time I go to WDW. I may split it up with BWI for the Epcot/DHS time....but then again....I just may not, I know I love AKL, I love the buses ....transportation has always been easy for me from there, I love the hot tub and even the pool is lovely at night with the stars all lit up! I just feel at home at CL there, it's a slice of heaven. It's still #1 with us, even after trying BC/YC and the POLY. Speaking of which, I don't want you to think the POLY was all bad, it was very nice and we did enjoy our time there.....we just liked our TPV room much better and I found it a bit more spread out than I like....but I wouldn't mind staying there again, I think it is beautiful. The pool is a bit small for the size and popularity of the resort...pics make it seem so much bigger, but it was quite tiny....it was fun though, although I didn't get a chance to try the slide :( it was always closed when we went (we used to do a late night swim as we where so busy during the day!!) -- I enjoy spending time at the resort to relax, being in the parks from dawn to dusk is sooooo tiring......I think next time BWI might be a great resort due to the proximity to our favourite park (DHS)..... also it might allow us to relax and enjoy some more resort time. I was so exhausted just doing the park and really enjoyed the little time we did have at our resort!
I 100% recommend AKL CL though.....you'd love it!!! :)
Marie

Marie: Doing a bit better, I hope?

At le cellier I get the filet and swap out the risotto for mashed potatoes. Even though I love the cheddar soup, it is very filling and so usually I opt for dessert. My 15-yr old is not much of a meat eater and gets the cheeseburger when at a non-Italian or buffet place. My dh and older ds will try anything. LoL.

At Fantasmic, you can get beer and wine...I usually go with a pop and dog, pretzel or popcorn depending on when we last ate. (that menu is up on all ears). Sometimes we have an ADR at prime-time around 3:30 and then go over. Lately, we have been at wdw when there have been two showings.

Hmmm. Wondering if they'd frown upon us for sharing an entree at Le Cellier? Soup sounds good but so does dessert... :scratchin I like the sound of your Fantasmic plan. :thumbsup2

Missoutandabout - We will be at the BC 1/2-1/7. We should try to meet up. :goodvibes I prefer the YC. It is much quieter than the BC and has guaranteed balconies! Wait, why did I pick BC this time :confused3

Oh, that'd be easy enough! Would love to meet more of our RCing lot. :goodvibes Yeah, just why are you booked at the BC? It's like we've swapped reservations! :lmao:

Probably bed ridden for about 4 days (but at least at home in my bed) with the entire first week being pretty rough. Wine. Yes. ::yes:: And Disney plan finagling. Sounds like a nice way to recover... :goodvibes

Made the call to request a Wedding Gazebo view. Yikes. I hope the "Family from the River Styx" doesn't stay next to us. :crazy2:

DH and I usually both get the grilled bone-in rib eye...I'm drooling thinking about it. So tender and delicious, and the sides are perfect!!! I also get a cup of the cheddar cheese soup as an appy because it goes wonderfully with the pretzel bread that I love to dunk in it!!! :hyper:

Oh, I'm droolin' now too! I love pretzel bread. Need to try that soup... that does it, we're going to share an entree. :lmao: Because this girl here needs her dessert. :thumbsup2

We just discovered the same with our last BC stay. Just didn't really take advantage of the CL amenities at all, so it was a bit of a waste for us. I'd miss the staff up there but I think we could easily survive without the lounge.

What color did he choose for the curtains?

I'm voting for a nice toile de jouy in red. :joker:

Ah, okay. Thanks! :goodvibes I'm definitely going to call back and put a "no connecting door" on the room request. Have you ever not got that particular request honoured?

I am thinking it may be time for a disclaimer on my relationship with WDW :flower3: When our girls were growing up we went a total 5 or 6 times, every other year or so, not that frequently. We have fond memories of time spent there, as do many with grown children. I go more often than most now (3 times a year) ever since I got "knee deep" into this cancer. It is for me a magical, restorative place, with more time spent at a resort than in the parks. :goodvibes At WDW I am Sarah, not a patient with a disease. That is the magic of Disney for me. pixiedust:

miss, the YC, wonderful!!! And I was there last few days in Dec, first week in January last year and my DD went swimming several days. We had a string of 75 degree days...not what you would expect, but make sure you pack Miss M's bathing suit. You never know!

i heart the mouse, CR and then the BC :cheer2: Last year on 12/30 we were surprised that the fireworks were the amazing ones they did the following night on NYE! I guess they must test them on 12/30 to make sure they go off without a hitch...anyway NYE fireworks from your balcony two nights in a row...priceless!

miss and i heart, an RC meet in January over by the YC/BC?!

jenny love the man cave! Will you deliver food during sporting events, or is he on his own :rotfl:

BC GV room, here we come?!?! :goodvibes

Miss If we are missing YC and you are missing BC we can just swap rooms! :rotfl2:

Sarah- continued good wishes :)

Miss- I'm thinking that since I'm at LC for lunch, maybe I'll do soup and dessert and skip the entree :)

You are Sarah to us. :grouphug: :goodvibes

We love ya, Sarah. You're a tough cookie -- like my mom -- and have exactly the right, positive mindset to kick it right in the tush. :grouphug:

Oh, I'm glad you like my newest resort choice! :goodvibes Knew you would. I'll definitely pack the suits. I'm really stoked not to have to worry about the stroller (we shouldn't have brought it with us this past trip, since we didn't use it :crazy2:) or the Halloween outfits.

BC GV room, here we come?!?! :goodvibes

:rotfl: At ... the Beach Club?! :faint: There wasn't any availability at YC still? I'll officially be able to give an opinion on the YC after January; I do love the BC though.

Miss If we are missing YC and you are missing BC we can just swap rooms! :rotfl2:

We can do a key exchange at Beaches & Cream. :rotfl2:

Miss- I'm thinking that since I'm at LC for lunch, maybe I'll do soup and dessert and skip the entree :)

Have you tried the burger? It looks pretty yummy. I know it's probably sacrilege to think about getting a burger from a steak joint ... but I might be able to coerce the hubs to share one with me in lieu of steak and that'll allow me to indulge in soup and dessert. I need to stop thinking about food. :rolleyes1 ... ... what will you try for dessert? (See how long that lasted?) :lmao:

Nope. Still only CL at YC or water view. BC is lovely. I'm sure it will be great! :bitelip:

Missoutandabout DH loved the burger at Le Cellier so much he requested returning for one this trip and I do wonder if it will be non existance once they go to 2 credits so I think I just may forgo the steak this time too

Happy Friday, RCers,
I am hopelessly behind. Please accept my apologies. With the wedding less than a month away, it's a happy, but crazy time here.

I think I have finalized our dining for the upcoming trip. It probably seems like a buffet-a-palooza, but I wanted lots of choices for family and grandson.
Day 1.Cape May Cafe for dinner
Day 2. Garden Grill for Dinner
Day 3. Sci-Fi late lunch
Day 6. Back to Disney-- Animal Kingdom, followed by Boma for dinner.
We'll be a few days at BC, and then off to the hotel near the wedding. DS and family wanted one more day at Disney, so...we're going back to disney and staying at Pop on our last day!
Janet, I'm going to zip over to the Pop thread and read a bit today.

We are trying BC for the first time, too, so lots of new things this trip. :cheer2:
Here's hoping for nice, sunny weather! :beach:

Hope everyone has a great day! to all the RC friends!

Good morning to all of you! :wave2: :goodvibes How's everyone faring so far this Friday? Any weekend plans that don't involve Disney or changes? :upsidedow

Beach club! Beach club! Beach club! :-)

You're not helping! :lmao: :stir: (The pictures they keep posting in the BC thread aren't helping either.)

Oh, nice! Did you get a taste of this heavenly burger or was he not sharing? Only having drooled over the pics, I really hope it's still on the menu come this January. :hyper:

Your plan sounds GREAT! Can't wait to hear your thoughts on Pop and the BC. :goodvibes

This is the thread for me.. Currently contemplating switching resorts... AoA suite to 2 rooms at all star sports... Saving $540.

My motivation? Being a SAHM in January
:welcome: AoA looks awesome!!! Is a suite at ASMusic cheaper?? You could still have a "family suite" just not at AoA...don't know if that helps....Congrats on the SAHM status !The toughest but most rewarding job ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2

Good idea .... that will sure make packing easier!!! And I say go in January during the RC trip!!! That's when all the cool kids are going!!!
Absolutely!!!!!!

Just wanted to post that I got antsy so I went ahead and booked the CR TPV and then called CRO. An awesome CM got me edited down to just 12/30 - 1/2 in about 2 seconds!

I am over-the-moon. Sure my budget is blown by a few hundred, but DH and I will actually get to see the NYE Magic Kingdom fireworks!!!!!!
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheer2:

So I just had to share with my RC family what my grandson who is on the Disney CP just posted on Facebook ......

Super excited for next week! I got three days off so I can hang out with my super amazing grandparents and aunt!! I can't wait!!

Gotta love that kid!!!! Can't wait to see him!!!
He DOES have an awesome Granny :flower3:

Jeanette - DD has been wearing glasses for a few years now and it was definitely and still is an issue to get her to keep them on all the time. I think your pans for Nov are perfect!
HRH is the only one who consistently keeps her specs on...lucky too cause she has the stoingest rx....DD6 is getting better, DD5 is good when she is coloring or reading at least....

 your recovery sounds :faint: tough.....I hurt for you already

If you had to do a 4-day resort-only stay during a non-swimming month, which would you chose and why? WL or AKL.
Totally too late BUT we did a AKL stay which was amazing...it was pool weather though..

Melissa- Meant to reply earlier to this...got distracted !! We have done the dessert party twice on day of arrival. Arrival day we drive from Smithfield NC, get to wdw around 4 and are usually in the by 6pm. Your table is reserved according to when you made the reservation, you will see people start lining up about 30 minutes before the time you are told to be there. You can't see wishes from your table...you will need to stand along the wall. Pick out your spot early and keep an eye on it. There is also a photopass photog there, so you should get some good shots. Look for the wire...if the weather is right tink will fly over you!
Now I am nervous...I go into Mama bear mode...don't know if I should do it....we could always see it from the Poly :upsidedow

I'll come back later to multi-quote, but I just had to post that the bolded brilliant gem had me LOLing in my current semi-conscious state
I'm better than coffee sometimes...

I'm a waffler. After all that talk about AKL or WL, too! :confused3

Hubs and I decided, after all the wishy-washy shenanigans from my family, we'll keep the trip in January -- well, since we already have the flights booked, right? :thumbsup2 (Scratching the idea of the spring trip since we're loathe to take Miss M out of school again. Even though I don't think she misses anything work-wise, it's more missing the social aspect of being around kids her age -- if that makes a lick of sense. )

Anyway, I was looking at ALL the choices... as we all tend to do. :rotfl: We discussed not going to any parks -- but then decided Miss M would probably want to at least go to HS. Big crowds kinda scare me so I'm a bit hesitant to even suggest MK at all since the dates are 2nd Jan - 6th Jan. Then we yapped on about all the downtime we would have if we only did one park (or even two) and wanted to be in a place where we could "do stuff" that wasn't park-related. Got to talking about POR, with the boat to DTD and how it would be convenient. Inevitably, we wound up ... right ... back ... where ... we ... always do. But different, only just ... a teensy-weensy little bit different:

2nd - 6th of January at ... the Yacht Club! :rotfl:

I told the kiddo we wouldn't be staying at Art of Animation. Then she asked, "Where are we staying then? Riverside?" ... "No." Her eyes got bright, "The Beach Club?!" ... "No. But almost kinda sorta." With the distinct tone of disappointment in her voice she said, "Oh. The Yacht Club?"
:beach: Congrats!!!

DH is in heaven to finally have a "man cave" to retreat to!!:rotfl:
:thumbsup2 Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the video rocks!!!!!!!

At WDW I am Sarah, not a patient with a disease. That is the magic of Disney for me. pixiedust:
You are Sarah here...always

Melissa- I was just looking through some old notes, obviously keep using the same notebook for my wdw notes (lol), and we were told to get to the dessert party at 8:40. Wishes would have been at 10pm.

Yeah Wishes is at 10pm the night we are there, we got reservations for 9:15pm. I am still undecided. We will know better how late we can push the kids after this trip. But the standing at the rail is another negative on my list :worried:

When I stayed at YC/CL-GV, I requested 'Gazebo View', but didn't get it. They upgraded us to a view overlooking SAB which was very noisy and I disliked it. I also requested (as I always request), 'no connecting door.' I highly recommend this if you like it nice and quiet like us. Oh I need to add "no connecting door" to my reservations ::yes::

As for the wine and pain killers, dont you worry, I am a pharmacist's daughter and know all about the drug interactions :thumbsup2 I figure the wine will come in handy when I try to make the switch to motrin and tylenol :duck:

When we went to Cape May for dinner one night DH said how happy he was that we were at YC, he really liked the feel a lot more than BC. I think as a family we just like a more "relaxed" atmosphere.

Wine. Yes. And Disney plan finagling. Sounds like a nice way to recover..

Made the call to request a Wedding Gazebo view. Yikes. I hope the "Family from the River Styx" doesn't stay next to us.

Oh they were soooo the Family from the River Styx :lmao:

Disney truly is magical pixiedust: I am glad you can just be Sarah there and escape the reality for even a short while. Sending you lots of  My mom has fought 3 times so far and even though it has been brutal for her, she keeps fighting so we can keep making memories!

Well ladies, I've done it again. No surprise I'm sure. Thanks to it being pointed out that the slide is only closed for the top part, I looked and got a YouTube video of it and DD8 gave the thumbs up again.

You are too funny  Okay well at least I can walk to BC from YC ;)

Here's hoping for nice, sunny weather!

Hope everyone has a great day! to all the RC friends!

Sounds perfect!!! I know its a crazy time for you right now, but at least it is a happy crazy :joker:

 your recovery sounds :faint: tough.....I hurt for you already

Now I am nervous...I go into Mama bear mode...don't know if I should do it....we could always see it from the Poly :upsidedow

Considering the 2 other times I had surgery I didn't heal well, I am not looking forward to this one either :sad2:

Yeah I am questioning the dessert party, I really dont want to pay that money just to have to fight for a spot at the rail. I am thinking if the kids are awake we just may grab some desserts from Contempo Cafe and watch the fireworks from the CR observation deck :confused3

-------

Hope everyone is having a great Friday :goodvibes

I think it should be a fairly quiet weekend here, then lots of running around next week before we head to Disney :hyper:

Yeah Wishes is at 10pm the night we are there, we got reservations for 9:15pm. I am still undecided. We will know better how late we can push the kids after this trip. But the standing at the rail is another negative on my list

Melissa  I even debated just doing fireworks from Poly!!! But the MVMCP fireworks are different, right? Then DH mentioned I should take the girls to the CR Observation deck (mind you he doesn't know about the Poly) Wishes is 10pm, our reservation is 835p...that's a long wait and a LOT of rides we can hit:confused3 I'm keeping it for now, but IDK we can always do the cocoa and cookies at the party and the girls would be fine with that :goodvibes

I really hope third times the charm for you my friend....

I do think the fireworks are different on MVMCP, but I am sure you'll be able to see them from wherever you decide. Which just made me remember when we were there last month we were on the Great Goofini when the fireworks started and then stayed down by the new splash area in MK and had a great view of the fireworks :)

Thanks for the hugs and well wishes :)

Miss- I just replied to the LC cheeseburger question on the WL thread instead of this one!

Anyway, I have not had the the cheeseburger, but picky Justin ate all of his and it was probably only the second burger he had in his life !!
