Ok, thats how it sounds, not how its spelled, or Shermans kyposis, or something. Has anyone else out there had a teenager with it. We are going to the World next month and I am wondering if anyone else has every been with a family member with it. TIA.

Truth be told, I had never even heard of it till I searched it after your post. It seems to be very comon tho. I obviously have had no experience with this, but from what I was reading a trip to the World should be a lot of fun and no trouble at all. The only issue I could find might be that after treaatment has began (such as braces or surgery) the person may become tired when walking. If this is the case I would grab a wheelchair and then that would no longer be a problem. I hope aht I was able to help some.

Wow, that is so nice of you to look it up!!! I am worried about her back hurting her and was thinking of looking into renting a scooter, but I can just imagine the looks I would get of having a "normal" looking 13-year-old child on a scooter.

If you think she need a scooter or ECV I would say get one. Who cares what other people will think, you'll probable never see them again anyway. Disney has the EVCs and wheelchairs for rent as soon as you get into the park. People mightnot pay as much attention to a person in a wheelcahir as they would the EVC, but then someone would have to be pushing. Either way, don't let what others think take away from your trip and your daughters comfort is far more important than a strangers thoughts. Please have a wonderful time.

You will probably have to rent a wheelchair for her. Most places don't rent a scooter to people under 18. If you really want a scooter instead of a wheelchair I would try renting one at home and taking it with you.

Well they would actually being renting is to us, welllllllllllllll over 18.:rotfl:

they usually make you sign a contract stating that no one under 18 will use it... CMs know all the rental companies in the area, and may say something if they see her...

also, most 13 yr old will not be able to control a scooter - you need stability it hands, arms, and shoulders - she would need to be able to hold her arms straight out in front of her for hours - sounds like that may be difficult for her (i know it is for me - that is why i cannot use a scooter)...

i would suggest a WC - no difficulties, much cheaper!
