We will be checking in there next Sunday, after reading some reviews on the RCI site I am nervous. It sounds like it all depends where you are placed. How are they about requests and where should I request? we will be having a 2 bedroom.

Hi Melissa,
Are you staying at Sheraton Vistana Villages or Resort?
www.starwood.com you should find info about both on here.

I'm an owner at the Villages and it's a perfectly lovely place although i have never stayed at the Resort so i cannot comment in it.

Hope this helps you a little :goodvibes

Hi Melissa,
Sounds like you are staying at the main Vistana.
There are 9 different sections ranging from the oldest Courts to the newest Cascades. The good thing is that Sunday check-ins are not placed in the Courts---but the Falls is still a possibility. Usually your reservation will state 6/6 occupancy if you're going to be placed there because there are only 2 twin beds in the second bedroom.

I'm assuming you exchanged into this resort. Unfortunately, RCI exchangers seem to be given the least priority for requests. I strongly recommend you fill out the Diamond Lane online form : https://www.svosecure.com/starwoodvo/diamond.jsp?resortID=5
Checking in early also will get you a leg-up on room selection.
The Cascades & Lakes are the only elevator buildings. So if there are mobility issues in your party request that or a ground floor in the older sections.
I own in the next oldest section (Fountains I & II). Fountains II is set up just like the Cascades and Lakes with the jacuzzi in the master bedroom (not bathroom).

Good luck and let me know if I can help any further.

Okay, I don't mean to butt in on your post, but just made me wonder...we're checking in on a Wednesday-does anyone know where we would generally be placed for that day? Thanks :flower3:

By the way, we're in Maine too!-(Southern)

Thanks for the info Maria- we will be getting there around 4 and I'll do the diamond lane thing and hope for the best!

Fingers crossed for ya Melissa !
JMLBrats.....check-in on a Wednesday is open season. You could pretty much be placed wherever there is an opening. Good luck to you. Definitely fill out the DL form. Are you renting or exchanging ?

Thanks, we are renting on a timeshare type promo-so we got a really good deal. Don't know if they normally try to put you into the newer buildings under those circumstances to encourage sales but we have wanted to check out Vistana for a long time now. We're DVC members but have thought about doing a Vistana "add on" for more time in the Orlando area.

We were put in Cascades, absolutely beautiful w/view of fountain:cool1: .

What deal did you get?

We had hoped to be asked back this year.:rolleyes1

Hey Melissa, we're checking in on Sunday as well (the 5th). I'm hoping for a newer place too, but we'll see. It's my mom's RCI exchange and I had the option of 8/6 2 bedroom or 6/6 2 bedroom, but she booked the 6/6, which kinda sucks because it looks like I'm limited as to where I'll be placed now :(.

JMLBrats,
I think you have a great choice of getting the Cascades or Lakes since you're renting. Make sure to mention it on your ressie just in case.

razz05....a 6/6 is most like the Falls. Only two twin beds in the second bedroom and Sunday is the only check-in day slated for the Falls. But you can try a request ?

Sorry for the butt-in, also:) .

Maria,

We are looking to go through RCI and have a Friday check-in. Do you know where the placement is for that check-in day?

Thank you:)

Hi Mick ~
You could be placed anywhere except the oldest Courts (Sat) and Falls (Sun). The Spas would be the oldest section with a Fri check-in. Hope this helps.

Melissa,
I am thinking it would be the Falls, as they are the only sleep 6 (one king bed, two twin beds and a fold couch). How RCI is thinking 8 could fit in there (comfortably), is beyond me ? I honestly don't have alot of experience with RCI lately though. We used to be Members years ago.

Hi, I have the same concerns as many others seem to have on here, we'll be checking in on Saturday the 6th May and are RCI exchangers with an 2BR 8/6 unit. Are we likely to get the Courts section? We were thinking about calling ahead but I'm not sure if that would help or hinder us. My mother is registered disabled and would be unable to climb stairs, would this mean we will be placed in specific sections?

Any info would be great!

Thanks,
Becky x

We just called the resort and they said we had been allocated the Palms section - can anyone give me any information about this area? I'm having trouble finding much about it on the net.

Thanks, Becky

Becky, the Palm section is the 3rd in line of oldest to newest. Since you have mobility issues in your party, you'll need to request ground floor for medical reasons. The Palms are 3 stories high. You'll have a nice pond/water view. The Palms are at the front of the resort so you'll have SR535 beyond the wall they built around the resort. I have never stayed in the Palms, but I did in the older Spas. I do have pics from the Spas but they are from 1999 and I'm afraid they won't do justice to the unit 8 years later. Vistana has rehabbed all the older sections in the past 3-5 years so my pics might not be representative of what the Palms/Spas look like today.
If there is anything else I can help you with, please feel free to ask.
Have a nice stay. And please take pics and post back here upon your return because there are many requests for info/pics on the older units. Most post pics from the newer areas.
