Topolinos terrace breakfast side items?

I’ve read several posts and a video that you can order your main breakfast item and also a small side item. However I saw somewhere else this is not offered. A bit confusing since the newer video I saw allowed for side item.

What is the consensus on this? I am hoping to grab a small side waffles with a main entree.

Seems like it’s dependent on the server if they will provide side items?

We plan on going next month. Any recent diners can comment?

has anyone also seen any evidence of RIV reopening the bar on the Topolinos rooftop?

Ok we

It really seems to differ day to day depending on your waiter. Last year my husband and I both got the steak and eggs with potatoes and were offered a side, so he got toast and I got a waffle. This April no such offers were made and I noticed the tables around us weren’t getting sides so I asked if I could replace the eggs in the steak and eggs and potatoes with a waffle and our waitress obliged but kind of seemed taken aback and didn’t offer it to anyone else. It’s definitely worth a try - read the room and negotiate if necessary hahaha!!!

It used to be pretty common. People would order one main dish and parts of another one to try. The waffle seemed especially popular, since it's not the standard Mickey waffle you get at other breakfast locations. Disney put a stop to ordering whole extra entrees, but you can usually ask for something like toast or bacon.

When we were there last June the server let us get toast and a side order of waffles. I offered to pay extra but he said "no charge"!

I recently saw a vlog, can’t remember who, who talked with a server off-camera, who said it varies by how busy the kitchen and the server is. There is no set answer. 😵‍💫😳

Yikes, sounds like there is no consistency. I'll be there early June, hoping it goes smooth. We usually do breakfast @ Ohana but decided to switch it up this year since we are staying at Rivera resort.

I’m sure it will be great!

The breakfast is very good and the character interaction is fantastic, so it should be a win even if you aren’t able to get extras!

I think I watched the same video, might have been WrightDownMainStreet, really not a good policy to have it be random, you are paying a huge premium to eat there and maybe or maybe not get a side with your meal

is the consensus that this is a good place for a Donald fan to have a good moment with him?

I’m bringing a total WDW neophyte but he asked to meet Donald 🥺. I was hoping to save Nomad Lounge for AK and not eat at Tusker House (plus want to take him to Boma!)—is there one I’m missing?

This would be a new restaurant for me, too. We are just two adults!

Donald is in his artist costume at Topolino. I'd try to (also) meet him in his traditional blue suit. Not sure where that is these days. Maybe Epcot?

Donald is all 4 parks without having to character dining

Yes, I was just trying to recommend somewhere to see him in his original blue suit.
I think Hollywood he is in standard costume. Definitely not Epcot , AK. MK is circus themed. Topolino’s is non standard costumes

I don't know about a side of waffles but I'm almost certain we ordered a side of bacon for our child.

But the side is not part of what they say you are getting, and the food provided was ample. The premium is for the characters.

I know it's many months later, but wanted to update on ur trip back in June.

So we weren't initially told about the options to order sides, but when I casually ordered the side of waffles with my steak/eggs, the server started to disclosure that current policy of 1 side for the "whole" table. So for table of 4, we were able to get 1 waffles. I pushed back a little, and she explained she worked there since day 1 and policy has been a yo-yo. right now this is the rule. From what I got, issue is to many side orders sometimes overwhelm the kitchen and slows the process.

I honestly feel that this side ordering changes from day-to-day and based on the server.

For sure server to server. Mine didnt tell us the hacks but I saw another waiter telling the table nearby. We had the dinning plan but still painful paying 4-5 times the price for the same meal as downstairs for the kids. Just the tip on the meal is the same price as the downstairs on lol
Plus, the kids menu is very limited and some kids like the more expensive items. I understand it’s the experience though, but at other character meals everyone gets the same food and the prices are different

Thanks for the update! I remember going when the resort first opened and ordering was like the wild west. You could order one entree, then another if something else caught your eye, or multiple smaller versions of entrees to try. It was amazing, and a big reason why it was as popular as it was/is (a character breakfast that was actually worth the price with good food). The food is definitely still good, but the value has taken a hit when they started tightening the reigns.

One question I do have for anyone that knows: the menu says that kids entrees are for anyone under 9, but typically you don't need to pay for kids if they are under 3, so if both our boys are under 3, do we still need to pay for them, even if they don't order an entree? Or do we only need to pay if they are getting their own meal?
