Sheraton Vistana Resort ? Orlando?

I stayed in the Fountains II area and I also liked it. Is there anything specific that you were inquiring about?

Nothing specific - looking for the "we will never stay there again" or the "it's great!"

We got an offer in the mail today to stay there for 4 nights for $169.

Good deal?

Scroll on down to the couple recent threads...looks similar to deal we accepted.

What are your specifics?

 thanks for the pics - are they views of a 1 BR or 2 BR?

Did they pressure you excessively for TS presentation?

We booked under the condition that none was required: "...we just want you to come and have a good time...".

Haven't gotten our confirm in the mail yet, will be interesting to see. They do add on the FL room taxes, etc. approx. $14/day. IMO an exceptional deal.

one of the older 2-bedrooms.

the 1-bedrooms are the newer units. so they will be much better! :thumbsup2

it was an exchange so I didn't do their timeshare presentation.

We stayed there for 4 nights almost 2 years ago. I did not like the stairs. We had no elevator in our building. The room was nice and clean. The resort had fun things for the kids. For that kind of money it sounds like a steal.

The Lakes and the Cascades are the two newest sections and they do have elevators. All other sections have stairs and are 2-3 stories high. You can request "ground floor" on the Diamond Lane online form if you have handicap, traveling with elderly or very young etc. They do their best to accomodate your needs : https://www.svosecure.com/starwoodvo/diamond.jsp?resortID=5
Here are some of my pics (there are some of the newer units as well) :

The resort is fairly large.....you will need a rental car (even to get around the resort itself). The Fountains and Lakes are in a seperate area from all the other sections and parts of the resort. You could walk, but it can be a hike from the General Store back to the Fountains/Lakes section, especially if you're carrying groceries.

Hi!!! MiaSRN62..... I noticed in your pics (they were great, thanks), that there is a mini golf at Vistana..... is it included in the price of the room, or do you pay as you play? My DS 12 loves to play mini golf, and when we were in Cozumel 1 1/2 yrs ago he could play free at the resort as much as he wanted.... I am hoping the Vistana does that too, so I won't end up spending a fortune on putt-putt!!!! Thanks!!! :)

I'm new to the board and gonna be a Disney first-timer. We also picked this hotel and from what I could find online it looks nice. I wish I would have found this board before I ever booked my tickets even. Nothing was said to me about having to go to any TS presentation. Is there anyway to get out of the presentation?

Thanks,
Mary in TX

Hi Scanmom !
Unfortunately there is a fee.........I don't feel there should be either.....but I *think* it's like $5 or $6 ? Someone else might have some more current info. We haven't played there in several years. It's a very basic course.....nothing fancy. Thanks about the pics....glad u enjoyed looking at them.

Hi Mary and WELCOME to the DIS
Did u book a promotional offer that requires a TS presentation ? If you didn't, then you are not obligated to attend. Not saying they won't bug you to, but you have the right to say "no". When you check in at the Front Desk they'll tell you to go to the back counter to pick up your "free welcome packet and discounts". Do not. Just head directly out the door. The welcome packet is a guise to get you to attend the TS breakfast. And fear not ;) ....if they don't "get" you there, they'll call you on your villa phone. You really need to be very firm with them because they will dance around whatever you say to try and get you to attend.
So not sure if you agreed to a TS tour via a promotional rate or not. Feel free to ask any other questions you might have. Have a nice stay there !

I got a promotional offer that included a TS presentation of no more than 90 minutes at a great rate. I'd like to hear from anyone that did the TS presentation.

Is it really 90 minutes, and that's it? How "high" is the pressure turned up? Any other obligations once you get there?

I've actually never accepted one of these offers before, but this one is hard to turn down.

Serene,
I haven't done a TS presentation at Vistana since 2000---when I vowed to never do one there again. It easily dragged to over 2 hours and the salesman was EXTREMELY rude and pushy. We got paid a whole $40 for that one and it was not even close to being worth the stress and aggrivation we went through.
Even though I have not gone to any TS presentations at Vistana since '00, I suspect they are still very aggressive/pushy in their selling tactics because we got no less than 4 phone calls during our weeks' stay there last year trying to convince us to attend. This year I plan to unplug the phone line when we get to our villa. I won't put up with that again.

I was wondering what incentives they might offer if we do the timeshare presentation? We will be there anyway, so if they offer enough, we may do it. Does anyone know what they might offer?
