sheraton vistana resort kitchens?

We will be there in two weeks for the first time. What do they supply as far as dish detergent, paper towels, coffee filters? How about pool towels? Thanks for your replies. :D

Dish detergent is supplied. Dishwasher detergent is also supplied. Usually you get two rolls of paper towels to start----one on the holder and a spare under the kitchen sink. As I recall, the number of coffee filters provided is very limited. We usually pack our own. Washing machine detergent is not supplied though. All paper products are replenished at the midweek touchup.
Pool towels are supplied. You have to go to the Activity Center to get them---they're at each of the pools. You'll need to tell them your villa # when you pick them up and then again when you drop them off. We just bring our own because we prefer oversized "beach" towels.

What type of coffee filter is needed? Is it a regular one or a cone shaped one?

We always bring a nonstick pan and a good quality paring knife. The coffee cups are small and I bring a mug.

We're also happy Springs requestors. Since it's less popular, I've never had problems getting it. I request a second floor pond view. We like springs because it's on the main side, and is larger than the cascades units. We like the dated turquoise/peach look and prefer to call it vintage :-)

the Springs have master baths big enough to be an entire room in themselves, and i like the jacuzzi in the bathroom

Are there safes in the room like in a hotel room? Are napkins and/or kleenex provided?

The only sections, I believe, that have safes in the rooms are Fountains II, Lakes and Cascades. We really never stay in the older sections, but I don't believe the one year when we stayed in the Spas there was any safe.
No paper napkins supplied but you do get the cloth napkins with the table set-up (placements as well).
They do provide paper towels and kleenex.

Thank you, I just have so many questions because we were never at a timeshare resort before. I don't know how much we will use the kitchen, but having a refrig, blender, washer and dryers is a plus. I just thought of something, we are booked thru spg.com with no maid service, but do you know is we get a one time clean up in the middle of the week? :chat:

Yes, depending on your check in day...checkin:Friday- clean:Tuesday, Saturday-Wed, Sun- Thrus

Do we need to bring our own garbage bags with us and also since we don't have housekeeping, is there a dumpster close by that we put our trash in?
The closer we get the more things I keep thinking about. :rotfl:

There are kitchen size trash bags, which are quite thin, with a few extras. It would be easy to flag down a staff member to get some more. I bring sturdier kitchen size ones, as these break easily. There are dumpsters close by.

Re coffee: when we checked in 2 days ago, there was a 12 cup pot, and 4 bags of coffee--the kind you get in a hotel room, with the sign "the first pot's on us." The coffee packs make a 4 cup pot, LOL. I set them aside immediately, and moved in my basket filters and my starbucks french roast, and I'm blissfully happy in the mornings.

I just thought of another question - which bathroom has the blow dryer in it? I will be using the master bath, I am the only one who needs to use the blow dryer and I hate to bring mine from home.

I do bring my own hairdryer... Actually my husband has one of the few travel-sized (fold up handle) that works as great as a full sized! I do not think the little wall mounted dryers at the resort will put out very much air....

Also, just one other thing that I do not think has been mentioned. I am not sure of the particular order, but the priority, as far as granting requests, like for the newer units, seems to be owners/exchanges, weekly rentals, then at the bottom - skyauction. I have heard that they consider skyauction requests only a few days prior to arrival, where our requests, as exchangers, was considered 2-3 weeks prior.

No matter where (except for a few possible units that might need some renovation) Vistana is a great resort! We loved the Cascades pool!

Beware the blow dryer--
the unit we are in this week, in the Springs section has been recently renovated....and they still left the blow dryer. These things look like vacuum clearners mounted on the wall, with hoses attached like used to go into ladies hair dryers in the 60's. the output is almost zilch. If you don't bring you're own, you will be going to Walgreens across the street to buy a travel one. I guarantee it.

Has anyone recently used a blow dryer in the newer sections like cascades? Just wondering if there blow dryers are better.

I can't confirm about the blow dryers in the Cascades, but I did use a Lakes blow dryer 2 years ago. It was just as enrich reports----a vacuum cleaner hose with very little power to actually dry. It's not that good. I'd bet most people who know about these bring their own.

For what it's worth-we stayed at the Poly/Hawaii builidng in 2002 and at Vistana/Fountains last Feb. It was the same terrible hairdryer! I felt like it was following me! I'd love to be in either place right now, though!!! Take your hairdryer and have a wonderful time.

We just returned from a stay at the Fountains (near the gate to the back section). The hair dryer is one of those huge old vacuum wallmounted variety. If you really need one, I would pack my own. I did bring one and never used it our whole trip. It was so hot that my hair dried on it's own very quickly.
