Has anyone stayed here recently? Are all the renovations done? I have free SPG points and am planning to stay there the first night - late flight arrival . I have read mixed reviews on this property. Any info you can give is appreciated...

DH and I stayed there for three nights at the end of our last trip. We also had SPG points and were upgraded...I thought it was a very nice hotel and conveniently VERY close to DD.

My DW and I stayed at the Sheraton Safari for a professional conference she had at the hotel earlier this month. The rooms are adequate (we later moved to a suite because there were no King beds available) and the grounds are OK. It certainly isn't a Disney property (the second part of our stay we spent at POFQ which was cheaper and better than the Safari).

The biggest hassle with the Safari was the lack of adequate transportation. The shuttle to the DW resorts runs only several times per day, is often late and stops at every hotel (the three days I used it, the 'other' bus driver called in sick resulting in the driver telling passengers that we would have to make a few additional stops).

When we asked the transportation desk for a cab, we ended up paying $20 to go to DTD and still having to make stops out of our way for other passengers.

Does anyone know if the Suites at the Sheraton Safari have been renovated recently?

thanks.

We stayed there last December ($40 - priceline). We like you arrived late in the evening and didn't want to pay the on-site price for the 1st night. We were upgraded to a suite when i showed my SPG card. We arrived around 10:00 pm and were gone by 8:00 the next morning, had to go get breakfast and check into the Swan and get to the parks! It was clean an sufficient for a night. The pool area looked nice. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again in similar circumstances. I'm an on-site girl though, so I'd never stay for more than one night!

We stayed three nights. Made ressies thru SPG and were upgraded. We liked this property and enjoyed the pool too. If I were staying offsite I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. I can't comment on the bus schedule as we had a rental car.
