My son has been recently diagnosed with shellfish allergy, but has never reacted. It was found when testing for something else. Anyway, we plan to eat at O'hana's, WCC, Le Cellier, Chef Mickey's B-fast, and Mama Melrose, and a few CS. Can/will they accomidate? I know not to give him actual shellfish, but I read somewhere not to ever eat fried foods at restaurants due to cross-contamination, but he has been eating fried foods for 6 years without a reachtion so I hate to do that if not necessary. How do you handle this allergy??

My 6 YO nephew has a severe shellfish allergy and we took him to Disney in December. His allergy is so severe that we are not supposed to eat any shellfish in his presence because of the risk of him touching our face or fork etc. and then having a reaction.

Disney is very accommodating to those with allergies. We had dining flag all of our reservations with his alllergy in advance. At the restaurants, they acknowledged his allergy when we arrived and pointed out what he could or could not eat (he is also allergic to eggs, which made things a bit more complicated). They will happily substitute foods for you to accommodate his needs. For example, when we ate at California Grill, all of the desserts had egg, so they brought him a beautiful fruit plate.

As far as fried foods, we only let him have that at places that assured us the oil was not cross contaminated. So, he could have fish and chips at Raglan Road, but not at Rose and Crown. (that may have been due to the egg allergy though).

We carried an epi pen with us but never had to use it thank goodness. Have fun!

I have a severe shellfish allergy...I had it noted in my reservation and then made sure to remind the server at each ts meal. They were very accomodating and informative. If they thought there was even a slight chance of cross contamination, they let me know. At most places, the chef personally came out to talk to me and ask if I needed a special meal prepared so as to completely eliminate the chance of cross contamination.

They were great. Make sure you let yur server know, and they will take care of it for you.

When you make your ADR's let the CM know, the Chef @ each rest. is supposed to call you & discuss your need/spec. accom. required. Good luck.
