She turned 3, but the DDP's Free, a WL Bounceback PTR

Yay! Mulan! My DD's favorite DP. Is Allie excited about this outfit or did she cry? Love all your embellishments. I'm sure there's a more appropriate term, but I don't sew so...

Allie hasn't tried this one on yet, so no crying yet... She did help pick out the princesses and is pretty excited about it, so hopefully there will be no tears.

The embellishments are fun, and on this one I used trim that I got on Clearance at WalMart two years ago. It finally found a home.

You are so talented!!!!
I am blushing, but a big part of it is finding the appliqué files and patterns online. I just get to put the pieces together. Now I am working on the Cinderella dress for BBB.

Love this thread! You've inspired me to start sewing again
My youngest NEEDS cute coordinating dresses for our park trips :)

That makes my day!:cool1:
We're glad you found the thread and are enjoying it.

Seriously these dresses are amazing!

Funny enough my husband has a good hand for sewing so he said he would sit down with me and a simple pattern and we would see if we can have some dress making success! Thanks for the inspiration.

Allie is beautiful! I would love to have dresses like this for my Ellie! I'm so excited for our trip now!

That is a really cute outfit. I love the added touch with the ball fringe. I hope Allie is wearing it when she meets one of the princesses.

How fun! My dad was actually the one who taught me how to sew. He was the one who would make our halloween costumes and things. One of my favorite pattern books is Little Girls, Big Style. The patterns are fairly simple and the clothes are super cute. Here is a link from Amazon http://www.amazon.com/Little-Girls-Big-Style-Boutique/dp/1607051885/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1373156340&sr=8-1&keywords=little+girls+big+style I also really like this pattern shop as well http://www.fairytalefrocksandlollipops.com/ Good luck! Drop in and let us know how it's going

Thanks! This is the outfit she'll wear for Akershus so we'll definitely see some princesses princess:. I will however never use that ball trim again! It came out super cute but it kept getting caught in the presser foot and was a huge pain in my side.

This isn't totally Disney related, but it does explain what we're up to and why we might be away from the DIS (gasp!) for a bit. We are headed to the Coral Pink Sand Dunes in Southern Utah for 10 days. We have made this trip this time of year for 19 years now, and we have a great time. Usually it is the highlight of our year, except for the years when we are lucky enough to go to WDW and it is relegated to second place.

We go up there with my parents and a few other families from our off road club. Melissa's family has been with us before, but won't be making the tip this year. We spend 10 days camping in our 26 foot trailer that hauls our dune buggy up there but converts to living space when we are there. It is so beautiful up there, it is a great place to visit and to drive around and explore.

We built our dune buggy ourselves and Allie even has her own seat and joins us for the slow rides. .

I'm bringing some Disney projects with me and I'll be visiting some of my favorite fabric shops (like the one where I found the Alice in Wonderland fabric for one of last year's dresses) on the trip. I'll share my finds and finished projects when we get home.

We won't even have cell phone service at the campground, so we will be Internet deprived for a bit but we will check the DIS when we go in to town.

What fun! I never knew there were 'other' vacations:scratchin

I love your DOOM Buggy (had to throw a Disney reference in there). It has lights and fits a car seat - how cool is that?!

I hope you all have a safe and fun holiday. I'd love to see more photos of UT when you come back to civilization. What will Allie be wearing?

We are on our way home now, and on our way back through Nevada. We had a great time, and Allie mainly wore play clothes so she could get dirty.

She would have rather worn pretty dresses though.

Here are a few pictures of where we were:

Melissa bought 23 yards of fabric and painted another pair of shoes for Allie (more on those later).

The best part about our vacation being over is that now we are just over six weeks away from heading to Disney World!

Why does that seem like it is right around the corner. Melissa is going to have to run that sewing machine at high speed. ;)

It is beautiful in Utah. I love the name of your dune buggy. :goodvibes

Ahh yes, finishing up the sewing will help make the six weeks fly by.

The buggy name fits me and my personality (not to mention my job working for a structural analysis software company...)

Well it's time for an update! We are back from our trip to Utah which was so much fun. I promised I'd share what I got and what I made so here goes. Firstly I came home with 23 yards of fabric! I purchased 2 more yards of that super hard to find Alice in Wonderland fabric I used last year. I'm not sure I'll make anything with it for our WDW trip this year but I'll have it if I have time. I also got some neat fabric with the names of different countries to possibly add to the bottom of the Small World dress, or to make a completely different dress for Epcot.... we'll see...

I also finished painting one pair of Toms. I thought I'd have time to get both pairs done but we were way busier this year than I thought we would be and I didn't get much down time. I started with a pair of natural Toms and after going back and forth over designs I finally settled on copying a coloring book page out of a Disneyland coloring book. I cut out Mickey and Minnie then traced the outline of their bodies in pencil on the shoes. Then I filled in the details in pencil eyeballing it until it looked right. They looked like this after the pencil sketch.

Then I just started "coloring" them in. Starting with lighter colors first and working my way darker until I got to the black. I think they came out super cute and I am kinda jealous... I want a pair too!!

Allie's favorite part about them is that Minnie has a pink baloon.

I also found a dress for one of our Ohana meals at a childeren's consignment store in St. George. It was on sale for only $3.68! I am thinking I might add a Stitch applique to it if I have time.

Our trip is coming up so fast and we have some busy weeks planned ahead. I am almost done with the Cinderella BBB gown but it is on the back burner for the moment while I finish up a dress for one of Allie's friends birthday but after that's done it's all Disney!

I don't have much to add to this update, but we're all super excited that the trip is getting closer. Here is one of my favorite pics of my girls being creative, with Melissa painting the shoes and Allie playing with stickers at the tables in the campsite.

Wow those shoes are awesome!!! What did u color them with?

You make everything seem so easy, Melissa, which is a testament to your high skill level::yes::

I'm placing this on the record for you to show Allie when she's a teenager:

Allie is very lucky to have such fun and creative parents. Not a dull moment and what great skills she's learning, too. Not to mention, she goes to DLR, WDW and WL - and is the best dressed kid, too.

Aww thank you so much! In all honesty though I only share the projects that work. Maybe sometime I'll share the misses. I will definitely show that to Allie when she gets older, I'm terrified of the teenaged years.

That really is nice. We just try to show her that if she figures out how something works, she can do it herself. Results may vary, but trying is fun. Thanks so much for your comments.

The shoes look great, Melissa. I don't think I could have painted a pair of shoes without a slip-up somewhere.

I love your collection of fabrics. Some of them have an antique look to them. The beige one with the children playing in the sand is rather sweet.

Have you ever made a quilt? I used to make them and it is a big addiction for people who love fabric. ;)

I can't wait to see Allie's wardrobe for your trip. :goodvibes

I don't know how I missed your PTR but definitely subbing!! Your daughter is absolutely adorable and I am in awe of your creativity & sewing skills! I can't sew to save my life but everything you have made is so cute! Can't wait to see more!!!

Who says I didn't mess up? The beauty with paint is you can paint over your mistakes :). I actually started really getting into sewing before Allie was born by making quilts. I don't have as much free time now though and I like the faster pace of making clothes. When everything is done for the trip I'll recap what I've made.

Welcome! We are so glad you found us. I'll be getting a lot more sewing done as we get closer to the trip. Less than 6weeks to go!
