"She exploded into glitter so I swept her up into a Jar" A May 2011 PTR (UPDATE 5/7)

Subbing! We are going around the same time! I am going to be at WDW May 9th - 13th at CR! It's nice to see another cosplayer/conventioner on these boards! :goodvibes My trip is the week before my home convention ACen and I need to finish up my cosplays. It's coming too fast! :rotfl: You should go to YoumaCon if you are near the Michigan border. It's in Detroit at the beginning of November!

Enough of my rambling. I can't wait to read more! :goodvibes I recently got my Magical Express mail! I cannot wait!

Yay, other costuming/convention geeks who are also Disney-philes! Totally subscribing.

(Jay) Woo! Glad to have you with us!! =D Moar costumers~!! =D Awesome.

Ohhhh, thats awesome! (I've always wanted to go to ACEN... maybe someday!) One of our home cons, Anime North, is only like 2 weeks after we go ourselves! Good luck getting everything done! I know I'm hoping to have all my stuff done for AN before Glitter, but who knows how likely that'll be

Youmacon! We love Youmacon!! XD We went in 2009, didn't go last year sadly, and are possibly planning to go again this year!! (aka I really really want to) I'm kinda happy they've moved it off of Halloween ^^ And that new hotel looks really pretty...

And aren't we just so close? So excite!!

YOUMACON!!! My fave US con!! Missed it last year because of work will def be down this year!!!

Glad to have you with us~!

I've always wanted to go to AN, but of course, it's usually a week or two weeks after ACen so it makes it harder for me to go. That would be awesome if you could go one year. And I totally agree. I've been planning so much for my trip that I haven't really been working on my cosplays. Maybe I will eventually get on it. :rolleyes1

I'm glad to hear you like it! If you do go to Youma this year I definitely want pictures! :)

More of an update for our Costume/Cosplay followers: The Rapunzel wig survived her first debut into the con scene...and is thusly retired XD. Poor Malkin, she stayed in the wig for about 40 minutes before I could get her back to the room to save her poor neck from the wig.

Masquerade went really well! Ended up winning Best Recreation @ the Master level which Malkin and I renamed (albeit a few years ago with my Battlesuit) the "Holy crap you're crazy why are you that accurate you know you can cut corners" award.

photo cred to pxlbarrel <3 love forever! The photo is coming to WDW with us so we can get Rapunzel to sign if for Malkin!!

In PTR news: I AM ADDICTED TO VINYLMATIONS OMG the manager at the Barrie store has gotten me into them! I have 4 from the villain's set: Jafar, Cruella, Radcliffe, and Madame Nim I WANT THEM ALL. I think I'm possibly more excited to trade these at the park than the pins we got.

It looks phenomenal you guys!! Congratulations on winning an award WELL deserved! I might beg you to do some extensions for me too!! :lmao: But not as large as that... Id have a neck like a football player walking around in that wig all day.

Trip is getting closer by the minute!

The irony in all this is when I started University I chopped all my hair off, and have gone shorter in the back almost every year since (my hair in reality is a curly version of Rapunzel at the end. I get rashes from my own hair at the back of my neck and keep it shaved, so having a braid that long was a little insane. The concept of extensions in my real hair just terrifies me.

I'm pretty sure I got a serious workout this weekend wearing it, but boy am I glad we won, got a beautiful picture and retired it. Her short wig and beautiful dress princess: is more than enough for me!

25 Days away! Mondays are hard as it is, I can't imagine what May 2nd will be like (besides being our National elections), I doubt I'll be able to concentrate at all!!!!!:cheer2:

Alright, so it's Countdown Day 22 (The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, which is Canadian --- kinda -- sorta) which means it's officially 24 days to Beach Club.

Here's my dilemma. I haven't gotten our official Mickey Mail (not to be confused with the Magical Express Mail) yet and am a little concerned. I assume since we got ME mail my address is not confused in their system but we are in Canada and all shipping from the US frightens me in terms of when it should get here and when it DOES get here.

Now I love calling Disney as much (possibly more) than the next person. So far for this trip I've called 4 times.

Call #1) To book the Garden View Tea. 15 minutes on the phone with dining discussing all the different options for Tea. And by discussing, I mean that she tried to get me to go to Princess Tea (hard because there's no one young enough in our party to go) and the Wonderland Tea (which Megpie would love. Only she'd be double the age of the oldest person there, except the CM). When I finally persuaded her that there was a THIRD tea that was for adults, and that I wanted a booking for before I left Disney (going after my plane took off on the 14th just would not work), I was pretty sure I could do the whole thing faster and wished it was available online to book.

Call #2) To tell them that I can't read instructions and put down Jayuna's abbreviated name not full legal name. Since the TSA requires that I spent almost 1/2 an hour on the phone as the Disney agent liasoned with Delta and confirmed that because Jay has a popular abbreviation she would be allowed on the plane and I would not have to have a heart attack at my desk.

Call #3) To ask for a room request on my room. We wanted a possible view of Epcot in our standard room and I had a lovely conversation with the women on the phone.

Call #4) To tell Disney to stop calling my damn phone and telling me my flights had changed as well as to ask if I had to pick up our luggage during our layover between Buffalo and Detroit on the way to Orlando. The gentleman clearly was not a happy Disney human and Tux got the play by play when I did.

So do I call AGAIN and ask about my package or wait it out until Monday (actual Day 20) to see if it shows...

I would call on Monday, but it doesn't hurt to call now. I've called dozens of times. :rotfl:

You can book the Garden View Tea online. I did it. Maybe you just missed it or something? Here's how I did it:

Go to "Make Dining Reservations" then put in "Grand Floridian and Spa" in the Location then pick a date and time and it should come up if there is availability.

Call on Monday. If they haven't already sent it to you, they can still rush it to you by courier if they have to. You can also call them if it eases your mind .... it's not like you get the same guy all the time so they're not sitting there going, "Ugh, not HER again." LOL ;)

That was totally not there when I tried in early December. Oh well, I taught the CM something at least :D

I would believe you more if that wasn't EXACTLY what the guy sounded like when I called last time! I think I'll wait for Monday and call before Passover. Then I'll threaten the 10 plagues on them instead

At least you know for next time! :)

Threaten them with the 10 plagues! XD Passover is coming so fast! I can't believe it's already here. Can't wait for those matzoh balls. Mmmmm~ :cloud9:

There's a tea for adults at the GF? I might have to look into that. I wonder if I can convince any of my party to go with me?

Anyway, I would call back just in case. Maybe they have some way to track your package?

There's the Afternoon Tea which is held starting at 2:00pm some weekdays. It's not very well documented as something offered and I've started judging how good a Disney source is by if they mention it or not.

I'm going to try and call today at work or Sunday (are they open Sunday? I feel like I called once on a Sunday) and require some sort of response as to whether it's been sent or not.

"How We Scammed CoinStar or Sad and Empty Now"

So, truly this trip has been a year in the making, but for this chapter of our PTR I do believe a little backstory about the user account's name.
Moonies, if you google search or Wikisearch will bring up a rather interesting cult... which I can assure each and every dis-er is not what we are (Though Malkin may argue that point). Jay: Tight knit group of friends, yes, cult, definitely not XD

Some of you may have noticed, if not from our PTR photo, but the various photos in earlier posts of wigs and costumes that we're costumers/cosplayers. Jay: For those who don't know what this means, we pretty much create different costumes from a variety of sources: movies (ex: Disney), TV, video games, anime/manga, etc. Myself, Chibi and Tux can sew and we make most of our stuff ourselves (and make stuff from Megpie and Malkin :P), and wear them out to different events! =D It's a ton of fun~!!!The name 'Moonies' comes from one of the initial meetings between one part of Maki, and Tux and Chibi (which later led into the claiming of Maki pt 2 Me! and Malkin) this was a giant SAILOR MOON gathering we had at a small convention, the first time any of us had met. Now the details are a little fuzzy, but somehow the name Moonies was tacked onto us as a group, and to this day, has stuck because of our shared love of Sailor Moon and costuming.

No fast forward to August 2010, a large convention (and a fail one at that :( epic fail) in Toronto, and I do believe the only thing that Malkin purchased from the convention other than Stan Lee's autograph was a giant chibi piggy bank of Sailor Moon. Instantly, Malkin decided that not only did she have to own the hideous piggy bank, but that from that date forward (August 30th)she would be dumping all of her change .25 and smaller, into Sailor Moon to save for the trip to Disney (which at the time we hadn't even booked).

Fast forward -agan- to today. Today was the day Malkin decided enough was enough. Many stubbed toes later, Sailor Moon would be making a trip to Metro and the CoinStar!! After a quick elevator dash up to Malkin's to get Moon, amusing a nice lady in the car behind Tux, we were off to Metro and I was giving Malkin the head's up on CoinStar and their fee for using it. Something like 11 cents per dollar, so not horrible if you have a lot of unrolled coin.

Bets were taken on just how much she'd saved, certain that she had maybe $40 and no more, we started to dump the coins into the machine. It was soon discovered how very very wrong Malkin was. After some difficulty getting out the last bit of coins from Sailor Moon, the total in the end came up as $133.02, with the fee of $15 dollars (give or take) to be taken off when we went up to cash in the voucher.

Now I suppose the girl who was taking the voucher looked a little terrified at what she had to give us and had to call her manager to approve of the transfer. However as Malkin, Tux, and I were walking away I very quietly asked her to a) count her money and b) check her receipts. As it turns out...the nice girl at the Metro FORGOT to take off the CoinStar fee! So now Malkin just has to convert to American funds and she is set to go.Which is still in "our" favor this week, so I will make even more money!!!!:rotfl:

The running joke now is:

Sailor Moon had enough in her to do any one of the following;
1) Pay for the gas for the rental car
2) Pay for the rental car one way
3) Pay for half of a plane ticket from Buffalo to Orlando
4) Pay for the stay in the Buffalo hotel 4 times over
5) Pay for our photopass!
6) Pay for 1 night at the Beach Club at the 35% off rate...give or take
7) Pay for one person's ticket into Universal Studios
8) Buy us a lot of Butterbeer! XD

(I am sure the girls and Tux will keep adding to this as they think of things!)

Geez, how big was that Sailor Moon bank anyway??? LOL

I vote for ... using it on a photopass CD. :D

I started a Disney Saving Fund, too! Although mine is a box on top of the fridge decorated with Disney stickers. It would be great if we could save up $100+!!

Photopass is a great idea, but I'm sure our funds will go to a few souvenirs and quite a few beverages! :drinking1 :rolleyes1

Well we already co-bought the photopass CD so I think it'll go towards some souvenirs, or possibly all the Quidditch equipment we "need" for Polaris.

This will likely not show off how ridiculous she is, but she weighed as much as my hair when about a 1/4 full yesterday and is probably about 20" - 25" tall. She's like a larger (but not jumbo size) stuffed toy from Disney.

Coincidently, I'm pretty sure we bought it when I was prowling with Jayuna looking for Dr. Who stuff. And obviously being the convention of fail I got this instead. It summed up the whole weekend.

Mmm!! Beverages! That is a good plan! :drinking1 See I know that I have a very hard time getting rid of change in my purse, so I experimented putting every piece of change I received under .25 into the piggy bank. Except the occasional tip that's what I've received back in coins since late August. And now I get to start it all over again for our "Apocolypse Trip" which I have almost three times as long to save for!
