I have read all about the pillowcase/t-shirt signing from guest services and hope to get this done when we cruise in 2 weeks :cool1: :cool1: .

My question is, do sharpies fade over time after many washings?

What are the recomendations from experienced folks? Would a rub-a-dub fabric marker be best? Or do sharpies last? Or someone even mentioned fabric markers (that I assume can be bought at a Hobby Lobby/Michaels/JoAnn Fabrics?).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

TIA.

i use a sharpie laundry marker. we have pillowcases and tshirts that go back 8 years (the orignal picture is looooooooong gone but the autographs are still there).

We used fabric markers that I purchased at Michael's. There were 6 different colors and they looked great on the kids' t-shirts. We had family t-shirts made for the trip, and I turned the kids' shirts in to guest services at the beginning of the trip for signing. We got them back on the last night with autographs from all of the characters in all of the different colors on the back of the shirts. They looked fantastic!

I had a t-shirt at my husbands 40th birthday party that everyone signed when they arrived. I have washed it several times and all autographs are still there. The darker colors do work better though

If you leave a pillow case to be signed do you need to supply the marker?

What are the best colors for a white pillowcase. It's for my DD5 and I would love to use pastel sharpies but I'm not sure if that's a good idea.

Need advice! Thanks!

We have 1 week from today!!!! :cool1: :cool1:

I just got an 8 pack of Sharpies fine point- found them in Walmart for our pilllowcases. I 4 pillowcases for the 4 kids in our group- do I just put them all in one bag with the markers or a ziploc each with their cabin numbers on them?

We used multi color sharpies on my daughter's pillowcase. Within a few washings the colored autographs were terribly faded. The black worked out. Now a year later the color ones are basically gone.

I'd never again use a color but use a rub a dub or a pen especially for laundering.

We had a black sharpie for them to sign my DS pillowcase and it has almost faded away. Started fading right away after first wash.

I plan on getting fabric markers for our next cruise! We want the next one to last and stay nice and bright!

When we cruised in September, Guest Services wouldn't take the colored Sharpies I brought with me. We were told they had plenty of markers, all of our signatures are in black.

I bought the 6 pack of fabric markers at Michael's for autographs at WDW and it stayed on t-shirt fine so far (hasn't been that long) BUT the markers themselves (i.e. the tips) don't hold up nearly as well as sharpies which keep their point pretty well, IMHO. It is hard for the characters to write so sometimes they push hard and squish the tip of the marker. I'm going to look for a better product for next time. I'm interested in anyone's experience with rub a dub. ?????

Not to spoil the magic, but I wonder if the characters are "in character" when guest services requests the signatures because if they are not, that may put less pressure on the marker and less smushing!

We sailed the Magic in October, and even though they accepted my markers, they didn't use them. I specifically left the yellow out of my bag, and there are yellow signatures on my photo mat. At least it is a photo mat, not a shirt or pillowcase, but you still can hardly see any of the sigs in yellow.
