I know this has been on here a LOT so sorry just a couple of questions.

1. The CM's really don't mind using a permanent marker to sign autographs with??

2. I plan to get DD one of the Disney autograph books, does the marker bleed through the paper??

Thanks!princess:

1. Don't buy a GREEN one.

2. See #1. (And only get autographs on the RIGHT HAND pages.)

Yes, they do bleed through.

Personally, I think there are better alternatives. An oversized pen works just fine. You can find them at places other than WDW.

When our family has gone with kids and done autogrpah books there are usually small kids involved. I worry about small kids and Sharpies. Pens, not as much.

I use the Staples Kooky pens. They have a clip to attach to backpack, autograph book, etc. They are thicker for the characters to hold.

Characters LOVE sharpies!

If you go with a pen they prefer dark colors, NO PINK!!!!

The best way to hand a sharpie to the character is to take the lid off and secure it at the bottom... then hold it straight up and down with the ink facing up (keep your hands on the very bottom tip to give them more area to grab). This allows them to grab it as needed and helps them to avoid getting ink on their hands/paws/gloves. Never point a pen/marker towards the character, they don't like to grab them that way.

We brought a thick Crayola washable marker and seemed to work out just fine. I was afraid that my DD4 would end up with marker all over the place. I agree with the last comments about having the markers out and ready for the characters. Have fun:)

I bought two pens from WDW last year and neither of them worked the entire time :( I am using a sharpie this time. The book I buy has thicker pages and one of the characters used their own sharpie and it didn't bleed through.

we brought clickable sharpies. don't have to worry about losing the caps, and they are thick enough to hold.

My almost 3 year old had no problem with the clickable sharpies last week when we met our barage of characters. There was one mishap with Donald at the Character Spot in Epcot but his handler had some special remover and got it off before the next kid.

We have always used Sharpies (retractable ones) and have never had issues of it bleeding through the pages. We buy our autograph books at Disney.

Another vote for clickable sharpies - they work really well...we also use the cardstock and haven't experienced any bleeding. I used a mickey photo album and DH cut 4x6 cardstock for me. We plan to put the picture of us with the respective character next to their autograph in the album. The sharpies and the album fit perfectly in my small bag in a medium ziploc...no chance of anything getting wet and ruined that way!

Any collector (my husband has a huge sports collection) will tell you that Sharpies are not desirable on anything porous. They will bleed over time. A ball point pen is the best for autographs on paper or baseballs. Sharpies are the best for things like footballs or basketballs.

If water can get through your singing material, a Sharpie will bleed over time.

We used an oversized sharpie with no problems with bleeding. I find the pages in the autograph books they sell at Disney to be a little thick. :thumbsup2
