We are planning our next trip to Disney World and plan on getting the Dining Plan. Can we share a non-buffet meal at TS and still use just one TS credit? I want t do a number of signature dinners, but also have a TS meal per day.

Most restaurants do not allow sharing when on the DDP. YMMV.

Not so! You CAN share, at many places. You can NOT share at a buffet, or all you can eat place (such as the skillet meal at Whispering Canyon, or 'Ohana). You also can not share at Via Napoli. Many others you can share at.

Most TS restaurants allow sharing (i.e., using one credit to feed two people), but Via Napoli has a strict "no sharing" policy. I've "shared" at several of the Signatures (e.g., Narcoossee's, Artist Point, Le Cellier, Yachtsman, HBD) and at some non-Signature venues (e.g., R&C, LTT, Raglan Road).

As you noted, you cannot "share" at buffets (e.g., Chef Mickey's). Additionally, you cannot "share" at family-style/all-you-care-to-eat restaurants (e.g., 'Ohana), fixed priced meals (e.g., CRT), dining shows (e.g., HDDR), or dining packages (e.g., Fantasmic dining package).

should be noted that Via Napoli has a restriction about using a single credit to feed multiple people. Every guest on DDP is required to spend a credit there. Once you've spent the credit you can share the food around if you like, but you can't have just one credit spent to buy an individual pizza which 2 guests then share.

Thanks again! This information will make a big difference in our planning!

To clarify,

At VN, can DH and I each use a credit for ourselves, for our own pizza or pasta, and then pay OOP for a larger pizza for the kids to share? I know the larger pizzas aren't on the DDP.

Thanks!

Yes, you can! :) Just make sure to let your server know.

Just to confirm.

We have 'free' dining and I've upgraded both kids to adults. So at the GFC or Kona, I can have them share an adult entree no problem?

Whether the DDP was 'free' or not, will not impact whether or not you can share. I have not tried sharing at Kona, but I haven't read reports of folks not being able to. So I think you'll be fine. I have shared at the GFC and it was fine. The only caveat is that if you do 'share' and both people want a drink, you will have to OOP for one drink. Also, if you are only using one DDP/DxDP credit, you cannot order the GFC Dessert Sampler; to order the Sampler, two people must be using DDP/DxDP credits and it will count as both of their desserts.

We have split a credit many times on the DDP. You are not allowed to share with people who are not on your plan. As the PPs have said, exceptions are buffets, character meals, dinner shows, VN, VA. We have never had a problem at Kona.
