My 9 year old son will be joining us at WDW for part of our trip (his dad is dropping him off to us but isn't very reliable). We will have the dining plan. If I don't add him on the reservation and he does come, can I share my meal with him when on the DXDP? For example, can he share an appetizer and little bit of entree (he'll eat nowhere near even half because he's a very small eater) and then I can purchase a drink for him? Anyone done this before? I'd add him but don't want to have him on the ressie and have to pay for the plan if something comes up and he doesn't join us.

I'm sure you can share your meals with him. You can also pay out of pocket for his meals :).

I am closing this now, as it is DIS policy to comply with Disney's written rule that your dining credits may not be used to provide meals for guests who are not part of your dining plan.
