Sharing MB's with off site guests?

The soon to be 5 year old, might not remember the number itself, but she definitely could tell the CM the phone number is on the inside of the band. A variation on using a sharpie on the child herself.

I am sure Disney has a plan and that they have it down to a T. But, having my number with the child does not seem to hurt.

Let the 5 yr old have a laminated card in a pocket or something and teach that child if lost to go to a CM Point out the different costumes and remind the child to tell the CM he/she has the number to call and have them hand it to a CM

Disney will NOT call. Period. CMs don't have phones. Even if your kid hands a cm your business card, they won't call. If you lose your kid, tell the closest cm and they will radio each other and find them. You will not get a phone call. That said, if they have had the kid for a few hours, I guess they may try to call, but if you haven't figured out your kid has been missing for 3 hours, there is a bigger issue.

If I found a small child crying and they told me they were lost but the they had the telephone number on the band, I wouldn't think twice, lawsuit or not, to check it and ring the parent. Yes I would also take them to a CM but while I was ringing the parent.

Also while I might not hear my phone as someone previously mentioned, I would think if my child was missing the first thing I would do would be checking it and have it in my hand.

If you find a kid you should probably hand them over to a CM ASAP and not try to call. Someone once posted that they found a kid and as they were trying to talk to them the distraught parent came up to them and started yelling at them. Not sure what the parent was thinking.

As posted above they have a procedure where they walk the kid around the area I think 3 times before taking them to the Kid care (or what ever its called) station. At that point the parent should have already talked to a CM and the station should be looking for the kid.

When my 7 year old was lost, they had him call me from the baby care center as soon as he arrived. He turned himself in to a cast member almost before we realized he was missing It was during that messy parade/street party hybrid they had at the Magic Kingdom.

If you are expecting to receive a phone call and that's not going to happen, it could hurt you emotionally. It could scare you. It's far better to understand that themeparks like Disney and Universal have been doing this for a LONG time and have their procedures down. Even if you do get a call, it's going to be much later and the child will be in the lost child center, not just standing there.

That's YOU. That's not the CMs. And you are putting yourself into a danger zone by doing anything but finding a CM. You *want* to have a parent think you were trying to take the child? Because that is what it *can* look like to distraught, scared parents. Don't do that to yourself.

We were at Seaworld in San Diego and there was this little munchkin all by himself, happy as a clam, just wandering. He was right near their big merchandise sales area so it was likely that his parents were in there, not aware of him being away yet. There was a whole group of smart adults just sort of around him, watching him, watching out for him, all while trying to find an employee to alert them. It was so cool because no one approached him (he didn't know he was missing) but we were ALL making sure nothing bad happened to him. And because none of us were touching him, when his dad came out from the merchandise area and saw him, there was no one for him to take his fear out onto, and it was all fine. Of course, he didn't notice the whole crowd of parents and just sort of nodded to the closest one, but that's OK.

Good for your kid! He knows what to do. I bet you talked about it with him ahead of time. Yay!

I'll take the risk, and say again if a crying child tells me they are lost yes I will take them to a CM but if they also tell me to call their parents I will do that as well.

I would try and call a parent if I found their number on the child. I would also try and look for someone to help. But if you have a phone number of a parent, why wouldn't you call them? There is no reason not to try and call someone if you have their child unless you ARE doing something wrong.

We have 4 small girls (6.5, 4, 4, 2.5). They will all have lanyards with phone numbers. If they get separated from us, we've been "training" them to stop where they are and walk over to the nearest wall or fence. We will know they are missing within seconds and they'll probably be found pretty quickly. Step 2 if we don't come back to them for a few minutes is to find a mom with kids and present their "I'm lost" dog tags with phone numbers or to tell a CM.

Before someone tries to tell me how dangerous it is to tell my kids to approach a stranger for help, we believe the world is generally 99% good and know that child abduction is actually far more rare than the media and our own paranoia lead us to believe.

That being said, we have 2 double strollers for a reason and plan to use them!

I am so sorry OP that a comment I made about the band possibly allowing Disney to know who my missing kid was got this thread completely off track. I just assumed since when u scan for FP getting on a ride the CM can see your name that might be helpful info. Also disney called us about a camera we left behind with no phone# on it by looking at our account, I thought maybe if they would call for a camera they might call for a kid, sorry.... Enjoy you trip and sorry you can't reuse some of your bands for traveling companions.

I didn't realize that once you deactivate a band, you can't reactivate it. Now I know.
