We will be at WDW in Sept for Free Dining. I originally made my ADR's and planned on 50's Primetime for one of the DDP meals, but when the Playhouse Disney Meal came out I HAD to add it! Now we are one ADR over our DDP--but that is no problem I will just pay for 50's OOP. I actually was debating doing that anyway because I don't think we will eat much there--certainly not an appetizer, entree and dessert for each of us. It is just my 2 girls and myself. We are doing the Playhouse Disney meal for breakfast and will probably need a small CS lunch or snack before our dinner ADR at 50's.

In looking at the menus and the reviews and WONDERFUL photos I think we will HAVE to order the Fried Cheese appetizer and the Smore's Dessert. With this in mind I am thinking that we would have plenty of food for the 3 of us if we just order one Cheese, one Smore and one entree (probably the Fried Chicken) and share it all. DD's are not real big eaters and the app and dessert with a piece of chick will be more than enough for them.

Is this rude to only order the equivalent of one meal for 3 people (2 of them children)??? Do they have a shared portion charge? (I don't mind as long as it is reasonable) We will all order drinks and I am a decent tipper as long as service is good. I just hate to order and throw away a bunch of food.

Not rude at all. I might tip a bit more than usual, but if you are eating less, you will probably not take as much time, so it should not be a big deal.

My DH and I share a lot of meals since we aren't huge eaters and we always like to have dessert later on. We've never felt like we were doing something wrong. In fact, most places will split the meal onto 2 plates before bringing it out... :goodvibes

:goodvibes This is not rude at all. DH and I often share meals as we arn't big eaters. This is better than throwing away good food. Have a wonderful time. Shirley

...if you are ordering simply enough for one person, you should be sure to tip as if you each ate complete meals. Many people stick to a strict "percentage of the bill" mentality; if you follow this structure you could wind up shorting the server for service rendered to three people.

As for the meal, most places do not mind sharing of food with children (even adults can share).

I would make some effort to assure your server they will get a fair tip even with the smaller check; this could affect the quality of service in the negative and the positive.

:thumbsup2

If they think it's rude, your server will loudly reprimand you and tell the people sitting around you. Then you will have to stand in the corner or sing "I'm a Little Teapot." :)

I can handle that! Of course they will regret it if they make me sing! Think Roseann and the National Anthem-- I can't carry a tune with a bucket!!!

Thanks everyone!

We split everytime we go there because the portions are super sized. You'll be fine! =)

When we were at primetime, we had so much food, it was a wasted embarrassment, they don't care if you share, when I go back, and we will because the food was so good, we will be sharing, the fried chicken was enough for two grown adults and the smores fed our whole table of 5 . This
is one meal I would share in a heartbeat.

When we were there last week, the people next to us told our server "Cousin Stephanie" they wanted to share, and she said "No problem, you know what we say, Sharing is caring!" I agree that the tip is the key though- we always tip as if we all ordered something, even though we share meals frequently. You will have a ball at the 50's!
