Sharing a TS credit?

From our experience i can't see any need to share credits, unless it's to try more restaurants or eat at TS'es around the world of course. We always end up with way too many CS and snack credits left, we really have to struggle to use them all! And we eat a lot. Just in case you're not aware that 1 TS, 1 CS and a snack every day is a LOOOOT more than it sounds. :) :D

We ended up with leftover CS because we ate at extra TS retaurants in Epcot. Too many places we wanted to eat there!! So I payed OOP for a few and then used the CS for 3 snacks. We will be on the deluxe plan in November. Will be A LOT of food and snacks, but damnit, I will use every credit! ;)

We typically have to stretch our TS and our CS credits because DH likes a full meal for breakfast. So we typically do 2 CS plus maybe 1 Snack for breakfast, 3 CS for lunch and then some shared TS meals. We do usually have plentiful snacks, but not all that many extra CS credits. If we didn't use CS for breakfast and just paid OOP or ate food brought from home like cereal, etc - then we would have lots of credits. it's the breakfasts my DH likes to eat that gives me credit headaches!

The ability to use a CS credit for three snacks was discontinued this year.

Even though that was discontinued officially in terms of converting credits...we found some CS meals that we used as snacks. For instance, in France, we had a cheese plate, a pastry, and a slushie (entree, drink, dessert), but it worked as snacks for us. :thumbsup2

This way I could save actual snack credits for the all important Dole Whip Float.

so if someone could clarify: we are on the DDP for 4 (kids 10, 12 considered adults to disney standards)

Can we use TS for 2 and split between the four of us?

we have 18 credits total for the week. yes staying 6 nights on the delux plan. PLEASE explain to me exactly how we can stretch it out. I'm assuming breakfast is the way to use our one of our '2 snacks' as our morning meal.

Amazing how quickly we flew threw everything but like I said if I can share meals either betwen DH & I or between the 3 kids, than bring it on! Please share/explain.

Between Cinderella's royal table, hoop de-doo, La Celier that's already 6 credits! Wondering if I should cancel the royal table eventhough I hate to because kids are getting their hair done and heading to the castle (if I do cancel though, I'd get 2 credits because how similar is it to the breakfast at norway?) IF I do that, then we just keep Akershsus at epcot. Add in quite a few of the other character meals and the 18 are gone, LOL! I need to make this work. HELP, LOL!!! TIA :)

At most TS restaurants you will be able to use 2 TS credits and share between the 4 of you. Via Napoli is an exception - they are strict in their interpretation of the dining plan rules and do not allow 2 people to use 1 credit and share entrees or an individual pizza.

You cannot share at buffets, all you care to eat family style meals or the skillet on the Whisp Canyon menu. Everyone will be charged regardless of how much or how little they eat.

Also CRT, the dinner shows (Hoop de Doo, luau, Mickey's barbecue), Fantasmic and Candlelight Proc Dinner Packages, special events (Dine with an Imagineer, etc.) will charge everyone attending.

I had no idea that the sharing of a TS credit was even allowed. Not even something I had considered - but a very good thing to know!

I know, I didnt either:cool1:. We always seem to waste a lot so now this is definitely something to explore.

Of course with the exception of buffets, family style.... but awesome
:goodvibes

I never knew you could do this! This will work out great for us because even though all three kids are "Disney adults" there is no way they can eat three adult meals. I was going to try and pay oop for kids meals for the non-buffet, non pre-plated meals, but it might work out even better to order 4 ts meals for the 5 of us!

Thanks for the information.

I shared with my son at Via Napoli over the summer. No problem.

This is the first report I've heard of Via Napoli allowing sharing on the DDP. They have a reputation for being very strict about not allowing it.:confused3 I know when I was there this past Dec, a large table next to me wanted to share and was told no. The only reason I noticed it, is that I heard the lady raising her voice arguing with the waitress and the waitress saying they had 'a very strict no sharing policy for people on the DDP'. The only reason it caught my attention, is I then wondered if they allowed sharing if the party was not on the DDP.:confused3 I didn't ask, but definitely heard the waitress telling them that everyone at the table had to use a credit.

For our August trip, our party is my sister, myself and my 11-yr-old DD. We plan on using 2 TS credits or 2 CS credits for most meals (with the exception of Akershus and WCC) because DD is a fairly light eater and between two meals, the three of us will have plenty of food. It's my goal this summer to NOT be stuffed with food after leaving a WDW restaurant!

How can you cancel CRT if the kids are getting their hair done :goodvibes Even if similiar to AKershas I'd keep them both, isn't that why you chose to do the deluxe plan ;)

If you don't have all your credits used for dinner shows or buffets, then on the meals that you do that are not either of those, that's where you can do the meal sharing. If you are doing any counter service meals, those are the easiest to share.

EX: We ate at San Angel Inn for the 3 of us we ordered 2 TS using dining plan but ordered appetisers OOP.

We did the same during lunch at Le Cellier and Chefs De France. The 3 TS credits we saved we used to do a dinner show (adding those 3 saved TS credits to the 3 we already were going to use for dinner = 6 TS credits).

On Deluxe you use a credit for either TS or CS, when you go to a counter service meal, just order a meal to split among 2, cut the sandwich in half, share the fries, split the dessert and simply order an extra drink to pay OOP unless one of the 2 will just drink water (or use a snack credit to get another drink).

Where there's a will, there's always a way :cool2: HAVE FUN!

P.S. Yes, you are correct in using the snack credits for bfast or as snacks! Use the meal credits for character bfasts (only for a character bfast IMO), your lunches or most preferably TS dinners (since those are your more expensive meals). You'll get the hang of it quickly after using it a day or 2

Ok, so what are your thoughts on the week? Doesn't seem to be a heck of a lot of sharing opportuities. so where/how can we make this work? :D

I know, I know, I know. My head is spinning from trying making the week perfect. HA, then I stop and say am I overthinking all this? LOL.

this is what i have, and now to juggle around just one MORE credit for the new be our guest. UGGGH, what to do, what to do?!?!

day 1: land, check into hotel and who knows what we'll do for lunch. Narcoossees for dinner that night!
Day 2: Breakfast at H&V. Then a late lunch/early dinner w/the Mama Melrose/fantasmic package
Day 3: snack credits for breakfast? CRT for lunch and dinner at Hoop Dee Doo
Day 4: Breakfast Akershsus Royal Banquest. La Cellier Lunch w/the candlight package for 5pm show. No dinner planed and I'm worried we'll be hungry that night =(
Day 5: Breakfast at Tusker House. Dinner at 1900 Park Fare
Day 6: Chef Mickey for breakfast. Crystal Palace for lunch. Dinner at the Yachtsman steakhouse
Day 7: breakfast at Ohana

If I do do the math right, total of all these should equal 18 credits for our 6 night stay. So lay it on me. how/where can we stretch this out? Paying OOP seems like a lot of $$$ especially w/3 kids (all under age of 10) especially when it comes to the character meals. :D

Does any one know if you can share TS at Beach Club? I've heard they let you share, but only if you pay OOP. Thanks

day 1: land, check into hotel and who knows what we'll do for lunch. I would use 2 snack credits each for everyone to make a brunch out of them using your resort food court & your refillable mugs for the drinks. You could order OOP sandwich or pizza slices to share to make the snack credits combined with those fill everyone up Narcoossees for dinner (1,2)that night!
Day 2: Breakfast at H&V. (3) Then a late lunch/early dinner w/the Mama Melrose/fantasmic package(4,5) plan on using snack credits during fantasmic show, everyone should have 2 for the day again, use 1 or both
Day 3: snack credits for breakfast? Yes,use 1 each and save the other CRT for lunch (6,7)and dinner at Hoop Dee Doo(8,9)
Day 4: Breakfast Akershsus Royal Banquest (10). La Cellier Lunch w/the candlight package for 5pm show (11, only 1 credit, right?). No dinner planed and I'm worried we'll be hungry that night =( there are sooo many snack choices in Epcot, use the 2 daily snack credits for dinners and possibly a left over from day 2 or from day 3 or both for total snacks of 3-4 each, honestly that should be allow plenty of eating around the world to make everyone happy
Day 5: Breakfast at Tusker House.(12) Use snack credits for lunch, 2 each, see arrival day suggestion how to stretchDinner at 1900 Park Fare (13)
Day 6: Chef Mickey for breakfast (14). Crystal Palace for lunch (15). Dinner at the Yachtsman steakhouse (16,17)
Day 7: breakfast at Ohana (18)

I think you've got the math right, 18 credits :thumbsup2

In your case, since all your meals are TS dinner shows or character meals, sharing will not be an option for your plans ;) But the good news is, IMO, is that you have a FANTASTIC line up of meals for your family. The only way I see you fitting in the Be Our Guest restaurant is to pay OOP or substitute another TS for it, that will be a tough choice because all your choices are good!

We have not done deluxe, but I thought it included 2 snack credits per day and I highlighted in pink how I'd use those 2 snack credits per day to fill in the other meals

I think you're going to find everyone is going to be STUFFED and satisfied without having to pay anything extra OOP unless you squeeze in Be Our Guest as an additional TS without swapping it for another one OR if you choose to buy a sandwich or pizza slice or something to go along with the lunch plans for arrival day and day 5.

Have a wonderful trip!

TwiddleDeeTwiddleDum SUPER helpful! thank you so much! Duh, didn't even think that we had snack credits on the day we arrive. so 2x snacks per person for a family of 5. That totals to 10 snacks as a family per/day right? Yup, we'll have a lot of yummies for the week. THANKS again for taking the time to explain/help me out. really appreciate it!!!

IF and WHEN I can get an ADR for BOG, then I may cancel chef Mickeys. We'll see. :)

Yep... if you pay OOP you will be allowed to share. Via Napoli is just very strict when it comes to using the dining plan because of the way the restaurant is reimbursed from Disney. Honestly, I don't blame them.

But if you are paying OOP, you can share. Mom and I have done this. 2 appetizers, 1 pizza, and 2 desserts.

won't be able to share buffets but other meals probably could until WDW has to crack down on the sharing....asmost places here in town we live in charge a flat fee to share a meal $5.00.....

Wow! I have never heard of restaurants doing that. I wouldn't think that many people split meals to make it worth doing this.

You are quite welcome :goodvibes You are going to have a maaaarvelous time :cool1:

I'm guessing from your plans you're doing 1 park only per day tix's which is why you're thinking about canceling Chef Mickey's if Be Our Guest becomes available? That would make good sense if that's the case.

However, just to give you something else to drive you mad thinking about :rotfl: (rotten, aren't I - lol) you are already doing 2 princess meals at CRT & Akerhaus, if you add Be Our Guest (don't know if Belle is here or not :confused3 that would be 3 princess meals ) then adding Park Fare, that's 4 princess meals - pehaps your children are all princess loving girls?

If not, you may consider dropping Park Fare IF you could get a Chef Mickey dinner to do that night instead of Park Fare. No park entrance req'd and you have the fab 4 at Chef Mickey's (Mickey, Donald, Goofy, Minnie) - again, depends on your groups personal preferences & since you're doing Tusker House, you'll see Donald's fab 4 (Donald, Mickey, Goofy & Donald's girl, Daisy  )

Let me just end by saying what happens to me :teacher: I obsess over all the ADR's too, but then a point is reached where I realize "That's it" and I know then that everything is just right. That'll happen for you too :flower3:

ENJOY!

Our agent booked about 5 meals & I switched, added, cancelled & as you know, rescheduled. She put the week & a great calendar together for us. Rinse, lather, repeat. You know how it goes. Lol, seriously though she set up one meal in the park we're at to keep us from bouncing around. With that said, we have a 6 day park hopper. Now I need to decide & figure out what do do where each night. Lol, any suggestions? ;p

The snack credits are per night so you would have 60 snack credits over the 6 nights you are there. That should be plenty to use for lunch on arrival day, breakfasts, and any other in-between goodies. You may want to check out the confirmed snack credit sticky to see what items at your resort can be used for meals.

A cup of water is free at CS places. Bring packets of koolaide/lemonade/crystal light with you so you don't have spend snack credit on drinks unless you want somehing special. Many places have SC items that make great small meals. It just takes a little planning and a bit of adventure.
