Sharing a meal at Rainforest Cafe?

Just planning our meals for this coming weekend trip and one of DS's favourites is the rainforest cafe. As veggies we both love the vegetarian pasta dish but neither of us can ever finish it as the portion is huge. Has anyone ever shared a meal here? There will only be the two of us (both adults) so I feel it is a bit cheeky to ask for this but it is a waste of food and would save us money too. Would asking for a spare plate and cutlery be a step too far?

I get around this by ordering a starter - and ask for it to be bought out at the same time. Then I don't feel silly as I am not a big eater either, but get bored of eating the same thing :)

I think I would just mention it when ordering...
'we aren't very hungry so would it be possible to share a dish?'
I can't imagine they can say no?!
I wouldn't ask for a spare plate (that's just me though. I know my mum would have no problem doing this!), although if they use some common sense they will bring out an extra plate and cutlery anyway!
I love Rainforest Cafe but it definitely requires you to be very hungry before eating there!

I think for me it would depend on how busy it was when I was there. We ate there just on the afternoon of our last day in february and there were only about 10 or 15 tables being used - although we all ordered a main course I would not have hesitated to share or just order a drink. However I don't think I would be brave enough to do this when it was obviously very busy with people queueing for tables - I would just feel too cheeky lol

However I very much doubt they would refuse you sharing regardless of how busy it was - you may just get a snotty look from the waiter:rotfl::rotfl:

That's a good compromise, thanks. :goodvibes Not as cheeky as only ordering one dish!

Thanks, I'll put it like that if I can pluck up courage as half a bowl each would be our normal portion size. Having said that, I did once ask to share a portion somewhere because DS can refuse to eat anything at all in a new environment (he has multiple disabilities including some autistic traits) and on this occasion he ate the whole lot and I was left feeling stupid and hungry! Fortunately he is well accustomed to the Rainforest Cafe in the Village.

Good point, I was planning on eating here Saturday evening so perhaps Lisa's suggestion would be best. :)

:) The starter doesn't have to be fancy either - something small so you have an extra plate and cutlery - and a bit of variety!
