Well DD and I went for a last minute short break to the shareholder preview of the new rides. On 2nd June we arrived at the Disneyland Park entrance at about 8.45 am and Donald's Desk had been open about 15 minutes but had a very long queue. We decided to enter the park and come back out later which worked well as there was a short queue and it only took about 10 minutes to get our free tickets and wristbands. We were offered two time slots 2.00 pm - 3.00 pm or 3.00 pm - 4.00 pm and we picked the former as we had been up at 4.00 am the previous day to catch our flight and thought we would be dead on our feet by the later time. Our plan was to go back to the hotel for a rest before heading to Disneyland Park for the evening.

The Cars ride has been open to the public for a little while now and DD and I were lucky enough to ride this on 1st June about an hour before the park closed with no queue. Very cool ride. Similar to the tea cups it is quite fast and it feels as if the cars are going to crash but fortunately they don't. Each car is designed to accommodate two adults and two children and each passenger has a seat belt. We also rode it once at the shareholder preview with about a 20 minute wait and once the following day during the AP preview with about a 10 minute wait.

Crush's coaster seems to be kept under wraps until its official opening on 9th June with the exception of the special previews to various groups. The photo of the empty shell entering the outside bit of the ride was taken on 1st June when it was being tested by CM's.
On 2nd June we started queuing to get into Toon Studios at about 1.45 pm just after we had watched the Parade. As we had tested out Cars the previous day we headed straight for Crush and managed to ride it with only about a 20 minute wait so not bad. What can I say - it's VERY VERY fast with sharp drops and sudden turns and not my type of ride at all! The shell seats 4 people - 2 on the front and 2 on the back and DD and I were seated on the back : not a good start as I don't like going backwards. Well going backwards you have absolutely no idea of what is coming up. First of all you go around the outside bit then enter the dark and slow down to see Nemo and Crush and then you go VERY VERY fast with sharp drops and sudden turns and in a couple of places it feels like you're going to be tipped out and you also meet Bruce the shark at some point! It then slows down and spins before returning inside to end the ride. Each seat has its own bar and a separate handle although both DD and I found it hard to reach the handle around the bar and held the bar instead. This is now DD's favourite ride!
DH normally does the fast rides but as it was just a girls trip I was persuaded to try it again and I said only if I sat on the front. The second time the queue was much longer and we waited about 45 minutes and yes the CM was nice and let us sit at the front. I'm not sure whether this was better or not! At least you could see when some of the drops are coming but it makes little difference in the fast, dark section. The second time our shell seemed to spin a lot more! It's certainly not a ride for the faint hearted but I don't normally do RNRC or SM although I really enjoy BTM. Having said that I'm glad I tried the ride and I especially liked the seagulls you can see on the Angel's Cove photo which are very funny with their sounds.
There is a height restriction and the smaller kids are tested for height and a French family behind us the second time got very cross because from what we could gather one of their kids was very slightly too short and not allowed on.
DD also persuaded me to try one more ride the following day (Sunday) - how brave am I and now I'm the best mum in the world for taking her and going on the ride with her.
I think Toon Studios has added a lot of appeal to WDS.
I would say that since you had to register for the shareholders event, Disney knew how many people were expected and they did not seem to cope well with the numbers. There were queues to enter Salon Mickey and once inside sometimes only standing room. I think the area in WDS was even worse although we didn't try it. On the Sunday Salon Mickey's hot drinks machine had broken and they only had coke and water left as cold drinks.
DD and I had a very enjoyable trip although the parks were very busy and it was very hot.
I hope you enjoy this little taster - I'll post other photos of parade etc when I get time but now it's time to do the
