Shareable size meals?

At Flame Tree BBQ, DH and I both ordered the ribs and chicken combo plate and split our meals with the kids (both 8). I think we also ordered a side of fries or onion rings? We were stuffed.

We stayed at Sports, and for our last morning we shared breakfast at the food court. We ordered two bounty platters and two bagels.

My suggestion is try to find meal pictures or watch the trays people are carrying in front of you. Thats what we did at Flame Tree. A guy ahead of us ordered the combo and we saw how much food it was.

It all depends on appetites but we have shared at Flame Tree..the chicken is a half chicken with 2 sides. Pizza Planet we got 2 pizza with 2 side salads--it was 8pieces of pizza with 2 side salads. TRex had huge portions too. You can also consider bringing chips or fruit in to supplement the meal too.
We also noticed with the heat at midday we did not eat too much and rides too.
This trip we are planning 2-3 meals per CS to share.

The best place we found for sharing a meal is The Plaza Restaurant at MK.
DD and I will get a burger or other sandwich and fries and the staff will split
it for us in the kitchen. Plenty of food, especially since DD17 will often get ice cream or a milk shake. We do snack a lot, however, since I can't eat a lot at one time and DS20 needs to eat frequently - has a metabolism we all envy.

I'm surprised at how many people share the pizzas from Pizza Planet! To us, those are the tiniest personal pizzas ever. Even with a salad, to me, it is not shareable. We rarely have been served a meal at WDW that we could've shared. The biggest portions for us were Wolfgang Puck Express (those individual pizzas are definitely shareable...they are HUGE for one person) and any meal we gotten from the Rainforest Cafe, especially their kids' pasta meal. There was enough pasta there for 2 adult servings.

Agree with WPE - the portions are huge - great value for a CS credit. This past December we wanted to eat at 9 TS places with only 7 nights of DDP credits, so we shared at almost every meal that wasn't a buffet.

LTT lunch - split 2 turkeys and 1 pot roast between 7 people.
Teppan Edo - DD and I split the steak and chicken - we each got our own rice.
Sci-Fi - DD and I shared the steak. DDs split a burger.
T-Rex - I think we shared 4 meals plus DS got a kids meal.

In the past we've also shared Chicken Parm at Tony's and meatloaf at Plaza.

We also split a lot of CS meals. And we were never hungry! Plenty of food to go around!

Whether you snack a lot will make a big difference. We are snackers, I'm going to want to share a dole whip, something from the bakery, even an order of fries just while waking around the parks, or I might eat a granola bar or some beef jerky we brought with us. By the time we sit down to eat I'm doing it because my feet hurt more than because I need to refuel, lol! As a result I eat a few bites of DH's meal or get a kid's meal and I'm good to go.
I HIGHLY recommend bringing a backpack of snacks with you each day. During the lean years that was a way we saved a lot of money and still had a great time. Now we do it for the savings but also the convenience.

Well, it's great for all of you that can share because you find the portions 'huge' and sometimes have 'tons' left over, but dh & I could never do that with any of the ones pictured, or mentioned. The one exception was the nacho platter - we did split that one - it was just so filling - plus we just got tired of one type food.

We are neither normally big eaters and we are small people, but we don't snack constantly and after all that walking we are good and ready to eat our 'own' meals!! ;) We also do not drink sodas or have desserts with meals (which are both filling) so that would make a difference also.

If you look at what those who consistently share meals have written, you'll see that "5 people" actually means one grown up and 4 young children, and that there are rarely any men included and that at least one (if not more) of the people who are eating has a very light appetite (as in "two spoonfuls and she's done").

I don't consider myself or my husband to be a big eater. I know that I can't finish a platter at any of the QS locations, but he can. And as long as I'm not eating seafood (which he hates) he will also finish my platter for me.

I know that people manage to get by with sharing meals but honestly, when I see that someone declares that they shared 3 meals between 7 people, I always check their signature to see how old those 5 kids are...because I know that those 7 people were not full-grown adults and one of those kids is probably just old enough to start walking!

I think something that factors in to sharing meals is when people eat. My husband and I share almost all our cs meals, but we eat at 7am, 11:30am then again at 5pm. After dinner we are done for the day. We are not small eaters but we don't space our meals out too far either.

For breakfast, we share a bounty platter with an extra side of potatoes. For lunch we will share a larger combination plate like at Flame Tree BBQ or Sunshine Seasons. For dinner we get our own meal at a TS restaurant (although we always have food left). Typically if we share a burger and fries, we will have to buy one extra side. We hardly have snacks except last time we did since I'm pregnant. Or when it's super hot during labor day we share a smoothie or dole whip with our 2 year old who makes sure he gets his 1/3 too!

We don't share with our 2 yr old though. We bring food for him or get something small to supplement what we brought for him. But we wouldn't be able to share meals if we had a very small breakfast or if we spaced our meals out more.

We (one middle aged female/two girls 10 and 13) didn't plan to share at first. Our first "Disney' meal was the Fantasmic Dining Package at Mama Melrose and we literally left more food than we ate.

That night at the resort both girls wanted chicken nuggets so I only ordered two, thinking we could always get more-we didn't need it.

We would have shared at the BOG lunch but the oldest wanted a kids' meal and the youngest the beef sandwich. I rarely eat red meat (and couldn't face any more fries!) so I ordered the turkey with the green beans. I couldn't finish my meal there and the ten year old left 75% of hers. I gave her sister (clean plate!) my dessert and shared the grey stuff cupcake with our non-eater, I only had a bite-not worth the calories IMHO.

We found the Beef Lo Mein at the Yak and Yeti counter service very filling. I'm pretty sure DH and I would be just fine sharing that and he's definitely not a light eater.

We also shared a pizza and Caesar salad at Wolfgang Puck Express with a cheesecake and creme brûlée-ate ALL of that ;-)

We were on the regular Dining Plan so got desserts with our meals. The girls did share a frozen lemonade at Y&Y but the popsicle thing from Mexico got dumped after a few bites. We got grapes and fruit cups with our meals at the resort food court to save for breakfast where we shared one Bounty Platter. I had planned on ice creams and things but we were just too full! I brought breakfast stuff from home but ended up bringing most of it back with me.

Our family is one that usually shares when we go to WDW (and at restaurants at home too.) It is me, DH, DD22, DD18.

DH & I have shared one individual pizza at Via Napoli and got the house salad to share.

The four of us shared one tempura appetizer, one potsticker appetizer and one plate of sushi at Kimonos for dinner.

At Wolfgang puck Express we shared a pepperoni pizza and a marghareta pizza between the 4 of us and had lots left over that we took back to the hotel.

At Kona Cafe, we shared between the 4 of us one Ahi Tuna, one terriyaki steak and a couple appetizers (potstickers and a volcano roll sushi).

At Via Napoli the 4 of us got an appetizer of mozzarella caprese and shared a large pizza. (Not too big of a deal because the large is supposed to serve 2-3.)

At TRex the 4 of us got a flatbread appetizer, a TRexadilla appetizer and a kids meal chicken dino nuggets.

What usually fits us best is for DH to get his own meal, DD22 and I share a meal and Dd18 gets an appetizer. It fits how we eat (DD18 usually prefers appetizer stuff and DD22 & I usually can't finish our own entree). We are also NOT snackers and do not eat dessert. The only exceptions are I have to get a Dole Whip and the girls get something from the Bakery in France and we all share one Fudge mud slide at Beaches & Cream).

Really it all depends on how you eat. We don't share every meal at Disney, it depends on where we eat. But I know the kinds of foods we like and I have looked at enough pictures of Disney food to know the portion sizes.

For those that share meals, how do you decide what to order? Now it's only my DH and myself(but even when our DD's where still at home) we all have such different likes and dislikes. I think someone would always be upset at what was ordered.

I am trying to list things that I have shared and with who.

Myself and my DD (24) shared the 1/2 chicken plate at Rays, we did get a extra side of mashed potatoes. This was plenty of food for us.

DH, DD and I have shared 2 adult chicken tenders plate several times, In each of the parks QS spots without any problem.

POFQ & POR - DD and I have shared the make your own pasta

POFQ & POR - My mom, DD and I have share the make your own salad and pasta.

DH, DD and I have shared 2 big breakfast combo ( the one with the French toast included) DD will eat the French toast and we eat the other items, This would be easy today with mickey waffle also.

My mom and I shared a spaghetti plate at Tutto's we were on deluxe dinning for lunch so we share appetizer, entrée and dessert. I am not sure if they charge us for the extra plate, they did divide it for us, and it was not a problem at all. It was lunch time so I don't know if this made a difference.

That's all I can think off right now pixiedust:

Found a kinda sorta picture of our Mexico sharing. The popsicle is missing and I didn't share my margarita with the girls. We had a few nekkid chips left.
