When I called to book my package last week, I had a fabulous guy helping me. He took the time to price several options for me and seemed very knowledgable. When he quoted me the price, including insurance, I wanted specific info about what the insurance covered. He told me it would be better to wait until I got the info packet and I could cancel within 14 days if I did not like the coverage.
I got the info and knew that it was overpriced for the coverage. I called to cancel and the woman I spoke with told me I couldn't! She said that once you make a deposit, the insurance is not refundable. I explained that was not what I had been told and she indicated that the guy was wrong. I explained that it did not cover what I needed it to and she asked me what that was. I told her I didn't want to discuss that and she got snippy with me. Mind you, I was calm and friendly the whole time.
So then the law student in me kicked in. I turned over my receipt and calmly read her the terms and conditions *Disney* sets out: "vacation insurance is nonrefundable if not cancelled within 14 days after booking". She then rudely put me on hold for several minutes. When she came back, she said that a supervisor had "managed" to get it removed from my account.
I had intended to put a room request on my reservation but decided I didn't quite trust this woman to put down what I wanted, so I'll call in a few days. I did check my account online and the insurance was taken off.
