Day 4 at the fort-
I woke up this morning at 10:00am....Ahhh. It was nice to finally sleep in on this vacation !!
Cassie (10 yr old dd) didn't get up until then either. Hubby had been up for 2 hours and washed 4 loads of laundry.
We each only brought 2 pair of jeans and long sleeves. I thought we would only need them on the way here and back, lol !!
It was gloomy and cool this morning but we did all play some catch out front. We went over to the Lodge again for lunch and decided to make it interesting. Cassie and I rode our bikes and the rest of the gang took the golf cart to the settlement area and caught a bus over. We beat them by 5 minutes. It wasn't very crowded over there today. We all seem to have our favorite lunches there. The girls and I like the pizza, Jack(6) the pb & J and Chad(hubby) likes the fresh turkey sandwiches. After lunch Cassie and I rode our bikes back and this time the rest of the gang took the boat back. We beat them by a good 10 minutes.
We had planned on renting kayaks this afternoon, but it started raining on our way over there and they told us they couldn't rent them out if the forecast called for chance of thunderstorms, darn it. But the Meadows pool was open (go figure) so the kids spent a couple of hours swimming while Chad and I sat under an umbrella trying to keep dry and played cards. At one point a CM came over and tried to get some kids to go play kick ball...but she had no takers. So she got into the pool and played "Mickey-Pluto" with the kids (like marco-polo). They all seemed to really enjoy that. Jack is doing great with his water wings.
We dragged the soggy, tired kids back to the site about 3:30 so they could dry off and Chad could sneak in a little nap before the Hoop Dee Doo !! It was STILL raining so we had to wear our ponchos to the Hoop Dee Doo. We ended up sitting right next to the piano in front of the stage. The kids were thrilled to be so close to the action. We thought the show was good...the food was pretty good, though it was hard to grab our server for refills. My son was cracking up almost uncontrollably during the "Hokey Pokey" when "Six-Bits" had to put his backside in and they tooted the horn. The look on my son's face made my day, rain or no rain. He said it was the funniest show he has ever seen (six year old humor, lol).
It was still raining pretty hard after the show. The campfire program was canceled. We considered going over to the Lodge arcade for awhile, but decided to come back and hang out at the rv for awhile. We played some games, took showers and got the kids in bed fairly early.
Tomorrow we are going to The Magic Kingdom !!
Forecast is 88 degrees and 30% chance on isolated thunderstorms. I am hoping for the best, but taking our ponchos just in case. Luckily most of the rides we are interested in are indoor. Do they cancel the MK parade or fireworks if it rains ??
